The other week radio personality Matthew Aaron broke the news that "Warrior" and "The Grey" actor Frank Grillo would star as the villain Crossbones in the upcoming "Captain America: The Winter Soldier". Said rumor was confirmed a few days later.
Now, Aaron claims the source who broke the story about Grillo's casting has some additional information. Apparently Grillo is signed on to play the character in three Marvel films including 'Winter Soldier', and the second is to be the upcoming "The Avengers" sequel.
That would most likely mean the third film in the deal would be a third "Captain America". Considering his mercenary character is also the one who carries out the assassination of Captain America in Marvel comics, it suggests that Ed Brubaker "The Death of Captain America" storyline from the comics would form the basis of a third 'Captain' feature.

About a week ago, radio host Matthew Aaron revealed that Frank Grillo (The Grey) would play the villainous Crossbones in the upcoming "Captain America" sequel, called "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." Then a few day ago, the story was confirmed. Now, during a recent episode of Aaron's show, the host called Grillo and asked if he'll appear as Crossbones in more than one Marvel film. The actor said "yes." After the interview, Aaron revealed that the same source who knew about Grillo's involvement a week ago is now saying that the actor signed a contract for a total of three films. The first will be "Captain America: The Winter Soldier." The next will be "The Avengers 2." And then finally, he'll play Crossbones in "Captain America 3." We already know that Thanos will be the main villain in "The Avengers" sequel, so it's not clear how Crossbones fits in. But it's possible...

Before we received confirmation that actor Frank Grillo was joining Marvel's anticipated sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, comedian and radio host Matthew Aaron had revealed, a week earlier, that the End of Watch actor was testing for the villain Brock Rumlow, Crossbones. Well, during a recent episode of Matthew Aaron's radio show, the host personally called up Frank Grillo, who was in the middle of filming Homefront, to congratulate him on landing the villainous role. And attempting to verify his “sources,” Aaron asked Grillo was he making more Crossbones appearances after Captain America: The Winter Soldier, to which Frank modestly confirmed. “Yeah, it's a good run,” Frank Grillo said. But more interestingly, after he left the chat to “finish beating [actor] Jason Statham's ass” for Homefront, Matthew Aaron said that, according to the same ‘Marvel rat’ that informed him of Frank Grillo's involvement, one of the future...

Update: Pluck it from the rumour file, he's in! Variety reports that Grillo has won the role of Crossbones. He joins a cast that includes Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Scarlett Johansson (at least according to Variety), Cobie Smulders and Samuel L Jackson.Though this remains one for the Rumour Files until the final decision is made, The Grey’s Frank Grillo has hit Twitter to drop a hint that he has tested for a role in a Marvel film. He followed that up with one about Marvel fans with #bones and then radio host / comedian Matthew Aaron Show added fuel to the fire, saying that Grillo is close to scoring the role of Crossbones, one of the villains in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. With Joe and Anthony Russo set to start directing the movie in March, casting is naturally in full swing. Grillo certainly seems to fit the physical type for Crossbones,...

The first full-length trailer for Iron Man 3 has arrived, along with several stills from the production.
Shown for the first time in the trailer (below) and the images is Ben Kingsley as the villainous Mandarin.
I'm not totally sold on Mandarin's look or voice, to be honest, and the trailer is very heavy on explosions and computer-generated carnage, but it's early days yet.
Unlike the comic book version of the villain, Kingsley is not Chinese - although his father is Indian so he does have some Asian lineage.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige explains that they wanted to blur the background of the big-screen version of the Mandarin.
"It's less about his specific ethnicity than the symbolism of various cultures and iconography that he perverts for his own end," Feige tells Entertainment Weekly.
Fans will notice a mix of warrior motifs including samurai hair, a royal robe and a...

See Ya La. It was a a good trip. Marvel was a lot of fun. Be cool if it works out. #CaptainAmerica.
The actor's tweet came shortly after a rumor hit Twitter from comedy talk radio personality Matthew Aaron to @Brianmbendis revealing that Grillo has screen-tested for Marvel and "is This Close to getting the role of Crossbones in the Marvel movies."

Frank Grillo, who appeared earlier this year in The Grey , is rumored to be up for a part in Marvel Studios' Captain America: The Winter Soldier and reports suggest that the role is likely that of Brock Rumlow, better known as Crossbones. Grillo himself tweeted earlier today about a visit to Los Angeles and a meeting with Marvel along with the hashtag "#captainamerica". The tweets have since been deleted, but the official Twitter feed of The Matthew Aaron Show has repeatedly made the claim that Grillo was auditioning to play Crossbones and, what's more, that he's allegedly very close to getting the part. First introduced in the comics in the late 1980's, Crossbones is better known today for his major role in Ed Brubaker's modern arc on "Captain America."...

Fans might be a little disappointed or worried that Hugo Weaving doesn't want to return as Red Skull, but when it comes to the sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier, that doesn't seem to be a problem. Aside from what villain the title implicates (we talk a little bit about that in this post about Anthony Mackie playing Cap's sidekick The Falcon), it sounds like another bad guy will give Steve Rogers a run for his money. Comic Book Movie noticed a Twitter update from radio host Matthew Aaron indicating that Warrior and "Prison Break" star Frank Grillo had tested for the villain role in the upcoming sequel. More below! In addition to his own vague update, Aaron also sent a reply to comic artist Brian Michael Bendis saying, "Have it on reliable authority that Frank Grillo is This Close to getting the role of Crossbones in the Marvel movies.

Frank Grillo ("The Grey," "Warrior") posted a tweet on Monday indicating that over the weekend he at least met and probably screen tested for a role in the upcoming "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" at Marvel Studios.
"See Ya La. It was a good trip. Marvel was a lot of fun. Be cool if it works out. #CaptainAmerica" said Grillo. The tweet comes in the wake of a radio report by Matthew Aaron (via IGN) on Saturday that claimed Grillo is "this close" to scoring the role of Crossbones in the film.
In the comics, Crossbones is a mercenary who famously carried out the assassination of Captain America himself Steve Rogers. Filming on 'Soldier' begins next spring in Cleveland.

Now that The Tomb is gearing up with Mikael Hafstrom directing, the power combo/hospital buddy duo of Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger needed an adversary to fight against. Now it looks like they’ve found a bad guy in Jim Caviezel. You may recall that the movie has been through a few casting hoops, but has now settled with Sly playing Ray Breslin, the world’s top authority on structural security and a man who designs prisons for a living. Things take a turn for the difficult when he’s framed for a crime and locked up in one of the facilities he helped make escape-proof. Now he has to go up against his own design, with the help of Schwarzenegger’s fellow inmate Church.Producer Mark Canton went on the Matthew Aaron show for a chat (picked up by JoBlo) and revealed that Caviezel has signed on to...

Break out your "Arnold, Sly and Jesus walk into a bar..." jokes.
Producer Mark Canton let it slip on The Matthew Aaron Show (via AICN) that Jim Caviezel has joined the cast of The Tomb, the upcoming action-thriller that will again reunite actors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. The movie will follow Stallone as Ray Breslin, a security expert who is framed and must break free from a prison of his own design. With Schwarzenegger set to play another inmate, Canton said that Caviezel will play the warden of the prison.
Set to start production in Louisiana this spring under the direction of Mikael Håfström (The Rite), The Tomb was written by Miles Chapman, with a rewrite by Jason Keller (Machine Gun Preacher). Stallone and Schwarzenegger can also be seen together in this summer's The Expendables 2.

Back in the 80's, Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger used to compete for box office dominance. But lately, the two friends have been sharing the screen. Arnie made a cameo in the first Expendables and plays a much larger role in the sequel now that he's finished with his political duties. The musclemen recently signed on to star in The Tomb, in which Stallone plays the architect of a maximum security prison who is wrongfully incarcerated and must fight his own design to escape, and now the observant eyes at AICN point us to a story reavealing Jim Caviezel has joined the cast as the prison warden. More below! The Tomb producer Mark Canton (300, Immortals) spoke with The Matthew Aaron Show and revealed that the star of "Person of Interest" (one of the best shows on TV you're probably not watching) is set to join the cast as the warden.

After playing Jesus Christ in Mel Gibson's notorious torture porn take on the man in "The Passion Of Christ," it seemed the career of Jim Caviezel needed a prayer. The actor mostly flitted around in a bunch of movies you didn't see like "Bobby Jones: Stroke Of Genius," "Unknown" (not the one with Liam Neeson) and "The Stoning Of Soraya M." He seems to be have a new lifeline thanks to the series "Person Of Interest" and now he's lined up what is easily his biggest role since he got up on the cross. Producer Mark Canton recently visited The Matthew Aaron Show (via JoBlo) where he revealed that the actor has lined up a pretty juice gig in the upcoming Sly/Arnie action vehicle "The Tomb": "[Jim] Caviezel will be playing the role of the Warden of the prison in which Schwarzenegger & Stallone attempt to escape from." There have been a lot of rumors over the years about a "Baywatch" movie. At one point Eli Roth and Richard Kelly took on the project and were planning to make a comedy. The studio didn't like their pitch, but still considered that the comedic route is the way to go. Now, during an interview on the Matthew Aaron Show, writer Peter Tolan (Analyze This, "Rescue Me") revealed that he recently handed a new draft to the studio in hopes of getting production going. "It's not based on the show in any way, though there are a couple of winks at the show," he said. "I don't know anything about the show. I didn't watch it in preparation for writing this." Tolan went on to say that his draft has roles written for both David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson, but they wouldn't be playing the characters they played on the series.

The time to do a Baywatch movie, if a Baywatch movie absolutely had to be done, was probably 1989-91, when the red-suited lifeguards were in their prime and audiences camped out in front of television sets to see Pamela Anderson, David Hasselhoff and Yasmine Bleeth running. In slow motion. For hours. Twenty years later, Hollywood is still trying to mount a proper Baywatch feature, and writer Peter Tolan may be the one riding to the franchise.s rescue. Now that his time on Denis Leary.s firefighter drama Rescue Me has drawn to a close (the show had its series finale earlier this month), Tolan tells the Matthew Aaron Show podcast (via JoBlo) that he recently turned a Baywatch script in to Paramount. Oddly enough, Tolan says his script has very little to do with the original TV show, which he did not watch in preparation for writing the treatment.

[1] The last time we reported on the Baywatch movie, Russ wrote [2] that he hoped it would "just dry up and go away." For a while, it seemed he'd gotten his wish, as the project didn't seem to be making much progress. But it's back now, with a script newly rewritten by Rescue Me co-creator Peter Tolan. And for better or worse, it's apparently totally unrelated to the show -- aside from a couple of planned appearances by David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson. More details after the jump. Speaking on the Matthew Aaron Show [3] (via Coming Soon [4]), Tolan revealed that he had just submitted a script for the Baywatch film to Paramount. Previously, The Break-Up writer Jeremy Garelick had been tapped to direct and rewrite the film (from a more action-oriented 2005 draft by Jay Sherick and David Ronn) as a comedy. Though Garelick is no longer attached, it sounds like Tolan's...

"Rescue Me" co-creator Peter Tolan tells The Matthew Aaron Show podcast that he's just completed the writing of the film adaptation of 90's syndicated hit "Baywatch".
Tolan says his version is “not a parody, it's not based on the show in any way, there are a couple winks to the show but that's about it. It's a whole new idea and new characters.” He went on to say “It's definitely a comedy, it's not camp, it's just imagining that that is a real thing and that it's a real program.”
Tolan adds that his film is more akin to "Stripes" and actors David Hasselhoff & Pamela Anderson have roles. The script was turned into Paramount Pictures a few days ago and is currently in development.

Peter Tolan has turned in a new Baywatch script to Paramount Apparently, Rescue Me creator Tolan has a new draft of the Baywatch script, but, according to ComingSoon.net (via JoBlo and Matthew Aaron Show), his version hasn't got anything to do with the famed David Hasselhoff starrer.
