Exclusive: Sp Media Group, a production and entertainment company led by veteran producer and Special Advisor to Hollywood Ambassador Jon Voight, has acquired Avenue Six Studios, a production facility in Van Nuys, CA. Deadline first told you this was in the works earlier this month and part of Sp Media’s plans to boost local Hollywood shoots following their U.S. film and TV production incentive proposal to the President Donald Trump White House.

The 1970s saw a variety of musical movies, of which many have now become classics, among them Grease, which has two very dark Elvis Presley coincidences, one of them the result of a tragedy. It’s not unusual for stage musicals to be adapted into movies, and in 1978, it was Grease’s turn. After Wayne Osmond‘s death, The Osmonds are mourning a loss in their family.

Breaking her nine-month social media hiatus, Marie Osmond paid tribute to her late older brother with a heartfelt statement Wednesday on Instagram, after Wayne died at age 73 on New Year’s Day in Utah after suffering a stroke.

“I’m so grateful that just a few weeks ago, I was able to take a long drive to spend time with my brother Wayne,” she wrote in the post. “I really felt the Spirit compel me to go see him, and I’m so thankful I listened to what I was feeling. I will cherish those hours I spent with him for the rest of my life. I didn’t know that just a few days after my visit, he would have a massive stroke.

“I haven’t done any interviews or issued any statements until this post.

Golden Globes: Viola Davis, Ted Danson to be honored by Meryl Streep, Mary Steenburgen

On Friday, Jan. 3, the Golden Globes will host a special dinner at the Beverly Hilton honoring the Cecil B. DeMille Award recipient, Viola Davis, and the Carol Burnett Award recipient, Ted Danson. Gold Derby has learned that Meryl Streep will present to Davis, while Mary Steenburgen, Danson’s wife, will present to him. Other celebrities expected to be in attendance include Carol Burnett and Jane Fonda.

The Cecil B. DeMille Award was first created in 1952 and honors film artisans, while the Carol Burnett Award, which celebrates television stars, was first doled out in 2019. Looking ahead to Sunday night’s main ceremony, both Davis and Danson will present an award on CBS’s broadcast of the 82nd Golden Globes.

Wayne Osmond, who co-founded the Osmonds, scored four Top 10 singles with the group and was a regular on the hit variety show Donny & Marie starring his younger brother and sister, died January 1 in Utah after a stroke. He was 73.

The news was confirmed in a Facebook post by his brother Merrill Osmond, who wrote in part: “I’ve never known a man that had more humility. A man with absolute no guile. An individual that was quick to forgive and had the ability to show unconditional love to everyone he ever met. Until I see him again, know that he was loved.”

Born on August 28, 1951, in Ogden, Utah, Wayne Osmond began singing with his siblings Alan, Merrill and Jay in a barbershop quartet called The Osmond Brothers during the late 1950s. The boys’ father, George Osmond, got them an audition on The Lawrence Welk Show, but they weren’t hired.

Wayne Osmond, who provided a strong baritone voice to the harmonious pop group that became known as The Osmond Brothers and then The Osmonds, has died. He was 73.

Osmond died Wednesday night in a hospital in Salt Lake City after suffering “a massive stroke,” his brother Merrill Osmond reported.

“I’ve never known a man that had more humility. A man with absolutely no guile. An individual that was quick to forgive and had the ability to show unconditional love to everyone he ever met,” he wrote on Facebook.

“His legacy of faith, music, love and laughter have influenced the lives of many people around the world,” his family added in a statement. “He would want everyone to know that the gospel of Jesus Christ is true, that families are forever and that banana splits are the best dessert. We love him and will miss him dearly.”

Sheryl Underwood, Amanda Kloots, Jerry O’Connell, Akbar Gbaja-Biamila and Natalie Morales bid farewell to “The Talk” on Friday as the CBS daytime show aired its series finale after 15 seasons.

Kloots, in particular, found herself tearing up over the emotional episode, as she offered a message to their loyal audience through tears.

“I live with a child, you know, so coming here every day and being able to talk to five, or four people, obviously — five, I’ll include you guys [the audience], cause you’re a part of it — about really fun, silly topics to important topics, but to be able to talk … I’m so grateful for that,” she shared. “I think we can’t forget that. Listen to each other, talk to one another, don’t fight with each other, really appreciate each other’s opinions, because that’s what we got to do everyday. And it was so beautiful.

After 15 seasons (“2,993 episodes to be exact,” according to co-host Natalie Morales), CBS aired its final episode of The Talk on Friday, and the gang did not go quietly.

Amanda Kloots, who became a co-host in 2021 when The Talk was still being done over Zoom, was the first to break down as she reflected on what the show — specifically its title — has meant to her over the years.

That’s how host Jerry O’Connell kicked off the final episode Friday of The Talk, which is signing off at 2,993 episodes and 15 seasons on CBS. After receiving raucous applause from the studio audience — a handful of whom have been attending the Studio City, CA. taping of the daytime talk show since day one — host Amanda Kloots choked up as she reflected on how important it’s been to listen to one other and “really appreciate each other opinions.”

“That’s what we got to do everyday,” Kloots said through tears. “It’s about talking, not fighting, and being apart of each other’s family.”

For host Sheryl Underwood, her 14 seasons on the show has been about “fashion evolution.” “You’ve seen things happening for me,” said Underwood, who later admitted off-camera that she never really learned to walk in heels.

“The Talk” executive producer Rob Crabbe is getting a little too familiar with TV goodbyes. A year and a half after his previous talker, “The Late Late Show With James Corden,” signed off, he’s now doing the same thing on Friday with “The Talk.”

It’s a different kind of show, and therefore a different kind of goodbye. But still, there are similarities to the sign-off. “The emotional undercurrent of what the shows were trying to accomplish is the same,” Crabbe told Variety. “You’re trying to express joyfulness. Eric Gardner, Chairman and CEO of Panacea Entertainment who began his career coordinating tours for Jefferson Airplane and the Grateful Dead before pivoting to talent management for such clients as Paul Shaffer, Donny Osmond, The Sex Pistols, as well as members of The Rolling Stones, The E Street Band and The Who, died at his home in Camarillo, California, July 19 from complications of pneumonia. CBS has canceled The Talk. The daytime talk show has been on the air since 2010 and will end when the show concludes in Season 15. It has been a long run for the show, one that started out talking about motherhood but has become about much broader topics in later seasons.

CBS announced the network has canceled its daytime talk show The Talk. The show features a panel that includes Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Jerry O’Connell, Sheryl Underwood, and Natalie Morales (as the moderator). The group talks about the latest headlines and human interest stories while having an open conversation about the issues.

Rumors of the show’s end have been swirling for months, but CBS made it official to the show’s cast and crew on Friday morning. The news comes as CBS and the NAACP are developing a new daytime soap opera under their content partnership, “The Gates,” a partnership with P&g Studios, a division of Procter & Gamble. “The Gates,” which “follows the lives of a wealthy Black family in a posh, gated community,” is seen as a potential replacement for “The Talk.

The Talk is coming to an end: CBS revealed Friday that its daytime talk show has been picked up for a 15th and final season and will wrap its run in December.

Star Wars fans will truly get to feel A Disturbance in the Force when a documentary about the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special — which debuted 45 years ago today, on CBS — is released.

Citytv has announced the cast and shared a first photo for Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent, which is being made in partnership with NBC’s Universal Television and was ordered to series in June.

Marie Osmond is reflecting on how an emotionally traumatic experience as a teenager led to a painful struggle with self-esteem and body dysmorphia.

Speaking with Page Six, Marie, 63, recalled how she was berated and insulted by a TV producer while filming her variety show, “Donny & Marie”, in which she starred alongside her brother from 1976 to 1979.

“It was on that lot that I was taken out to the back by some head of the studio — and I’m like 5′ 5″ and about 103 pounds — and he basically said, ‘You’re an embarrassment to your family. You’re fat,'” Marie recalled.

She said that the was told that that producer screamed at her and told her that “250 people were going to lose their jobs because you can’t keep food out of your fat face.” Marie said she was subsequently spurred on to undergoing a dangerous diet regimen.

Media baron Rupert Murdoch is in a relationship with Ann-Lesley Smith, 25 years his junior, less than six months after his “brutal” split from Jerry Hall, it has emerged.

The 91-year-old was pictured holidaying on a beach in Barbados with Smith, 66. The pair were also photographed holding hands at an airport.

They were reportedly being hosted in Barbados by British billionaire and Jcb chairman Anthony Bamford, the Daily Mail reports.

Smith was previously married to country-western musician and business entrepreneur Chester Smith, with whom she recorded an album in 2005, titled Captured by Love. He died in 2008, aged 78.

The Independent understands that Smith and Murdoch met in November before making their debut as a couple at Christmas, when she attended a dinner at Murdoch’s home in Mayfair.
