The Judd Family: Truth Be Told, premiering May 10, “reveals the complex story of the Judds’ including their triumphs and tragedies across several decades,” Lifetime said in a synopsis.

Lifetime has released a new trailer for the four-part documentary series “The Judd Family: Truth Be Told,” which premiers on Mother’s Day Weekend from May 10 – 11 at 8pm Et/Pt (stream on Philo).

According to the announcement, the doc profiles one of the greatest country music families of the modern era and the late Naomi Judd’s complicated relationship with her daughters, Wynonna and Ashley. Directed by Alexandra Dean, the documentary “explores the complex mother-daughter dynamics and intergenerational trauma as seen through the eyes of the Judd Family.”

In addition to exclusive interviews with Ashley, Wynonna, close family members and friends, the documentary features rare photos, home videos, unreleased songs, and audio.

A&e and Lifetime have ordered a number of new projects including a new movie starring Precious’ Gabourey Sidibe and renewed shows including Storage Wars.

It comes as the parent company has rebranded as A+E Global Media ahead of its annual Upfront.

Storage Wars is back for its 16th season. The show, which aired Season 15 in 2023, will expand from its traditional half-hours to a one-hour format. The ten-part series, which will air this summer, features teams of bidders on the hunt for valuable abandoned and repossessed storage units and with only a few minutes to see inside, they must decide whether they’ve spotted trash or true treasure that they can turn into big profits. Together, the sisters worked through the grief. At the same time, Wynonna had a big decision to make. She and Naomi were set to hit the road as The Judds, something that had not done in years.

In an opinion piece for USA Today published on Friday, Ashley Judd called on Joe Biden to “voluntarily, gracefully step aside” so that a “talented, robust Democrat” can run for the presidency.

She wrote that Biden demonstrated during the debate he was “incapable of countering Trump, while he, unchecked, gushed a firehose of galling lies.”

Judd visited the White House in April to help the Biden administration promote its new national strategy to prevent suicide. She lost her mother, Naomi Judd, that way.

Judd has been an outspoken supporter for Biden and other Democrats. Her allegations against Harvey Weinstein also helped at the start of the #MeToo movement.

Judd said that time is of the essence for Democrats to replace Biden with a candidate who can defeat him.

“We do not have another day for distraction or division among ourselves,” she said.

Judd did not suggest a possible replacement for Biden atop the ticket.

By performing her first two solo albums — Wynonna and Tell Me Why — back-to-back in their entirety, the “Back to Wy” tour will be a celebration of the early days of Judd’s career. It will also be Judd’s first run of dates since last year, when she hit the road after the death of her mother, Naomi Judd, for a tour that was originally booked for the two of them. Dolly Parton has shared a new cover of the Beatles’ “Let It Be,” which features Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Mick Fleetwood, and Peter Frampton. The piano-led rendition is a showcase for Parton’s powerhouse vocals, with McCartney, who wrote the song, joining in on the chorus.

During Thursday night’s Academy of Country Music Awards’ segment remembering country music artists who are no longer with us, Parton took a moment to pay tribute to the “two women who were like sisters to [her].”

Ashley Judd’s birthday is a little more solemn this year.

The singer is celebrating her 55th birthday, her first without her mother Naomi Judd, who died last year.

Reflecting on the past year, Judd shared a somber post to Instagram.

“My birthday. Everyone who loves me is making it as soft (cake in bed) and precious as they can, as my mind can’t help but calculate that on my last birthday, Mom was a scant 11 days from her death by crushing suicide,” she began the post.

Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine is launching a bright new division: music.

The media company behind Amazon’s Prime Video musical drama Daisy Jones & the Six and the Apple TV+ music competition series My Kind of Country has named Alex Flores as executive vice president, music.
