Futurama Had A Hidden Crossover With Eddie Murphy's Forgotten Claymation Show
Image
In the "Futurama" episode "I Second That Emotion", the crass alcoholic robot Bender (John Dimaggio), having become fed up with Leela's pet whatsit Nibbler (Frank Welker), flushes him down the toilet. Leela (Katey Sagal) is distraught, but Bender is fecklessly unapologetic. The Professor (Billy West) finds that Bender may be incapable of empathy, and solves the issue by hammering a high-tech emotions chip into his head. The chip psychically links to Leela, and Bender begins feeling horrible. To solve their mutual sadness, Bender and Leela decide to go into the sewers to rescue Nibbler.

In the lore of "Futurama," the ruins of Old New York are deep underground and the city of New New York was built on its ruins.

Before going into the sewers, though, Leela finds a nearby manhole cover and removes it with a manhole hook. The manhole cover bears the face of a bored-looking man,...

‘Past Lives’, Celine Song triumph at 2024 Spirit Awards

The rain stayed away from Santa Monica Beach on Sunday (February 25) as Past Lives was named best film and Celine Song best director at the 39th annual Spirit Awards.

While the legacy studio and streamer contenders have dominated much of the big-ticket awards shows this season like Saturday night’s SAG Awards, last weekend’s Baftas, the Golden Globes and Critics Choice Awards, this was a good opportunity for the Oscar-nominated A24 romance and Song to earn gongs for a film which has done well among critics groups since its world premiere at Sundance just over one year ago.

Dear Mama debuted on April 21, 2023, with new episodes of the five-episode series airing on Fridays at 10pm Et/Pt.

“It’s only fitting that Allen Hughes’ definitive piece on Tupac and Afeni Shakur delivered a record performance for us, and it speaks to Tupac’s enduring legacy,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment. “Allen’s examination of Tupac viewed through the prism of his mother Afeni is a fascinating take that really gets beneath the education and experience that shaped his life and inspired him to become one of the greatest artists ever.”

‘Dear Mama’ Sets Premiere Record for FX Unscripted Series
Dear Mama (2022)
FX’s docuseries Dear Mama set a new ratings high for an unscripted series debut on the Disney-owned outlet.

The chronicle of the lives of Tupac and Afeni Shakur, which premiered April 21, passed Welcome to Wrexham as FX’s most watched unscripted debut in cross-platform viewers. The full cross-platform figures aren’t being released, per FX policy, but the majority of Dear Mama’s audience likely streamed the show on Hulu.

The two-episode premiere of Dear Mama, directed by Allen Hughes, averaged about 185,000 viewers for its on-air debut (episode one drew 196,000). That trailed Welcome to Wrexham’s linear premiere in August 2022 (it averaged 271,000 viewers for its first two episodes), but Dear Mama made up the difference with streaming and other delayed viewing. Streaming often makes up the majority of viewing for series that originate on ad-supported and premium cable outlets.

“It’s only fitting that Allen Hughes’ definitive piece on...

‘Dear Mama’ Becomes FX’s Most-Watched Premiere Ever for an Unscripted Series
Image
FX’s latest docuseries opened on a high note, the network reveals. According to multi-platform ratings, the “Dear Mama” debut scored FX’s most watched premiere for an unscripted series ever. The show opened on FX on April 21 and became available to stream the following day on Hulu, which combined for the record setting performance.

From director Allen Hughes, the five-part docuseries explores the lives and legacies of mother and son, Afeni and Tupac Shakur. A renowned revolutionary, Afeni became a feminist figure of the ’70s, a female leader in the movement amidst the macho milieu of the Black Panther Party. Tupac, a rapper and poet, also became a political visionary, philosopher and one of the greatest rap artists of all time. “Their story chronicles the possibilities and contradictions of the United States from a time of revolutionary fervor to Hip Hop culture’s most ostentatious decade,” reads the official description.

The Jacqueline Avant Children and Family Center Unveiled in Watts: “It’s a Safe, Clean, Beautiful Space”
Image
Jacqueline Avant, the late wife of music executive Clarence Avant, was a brilliant bouquet of things: mother, philanthropist, community activist, art collector. But during her life — which was tragically cut short in December 2021 — she was also quietly a bridge between the palm tree-lined streets of Beverly Hills and those of South Central as president of Neighbors of Watts, a support group for the South Central Community Child Care Center where she committed her time and resources to at-risk youth.

“My mom was almost the ambassador to South Central,” Nicole Avant, daughter of Jacqueline and Clarence Avant and former U.S. Ambassador to the Bahamas, told The Hollywood Reporter. “She lived in Beverly Hills all her life. The first time she touched down in LA, [she and my dad] moved to Beverly Hills. That was it.”

What was once known as The MLK Child and Family Well-Being Center has now been renamed the Jacqueline Avant...

Lil Wayne Pissed Off With Court Result
Lil Wayne is very pissed off with the fact that he lost his lawsuit against Quincy Jones III. He tells sources, however, he is not upset because of the money but because of the fact that he thinks that the judge should have given him enough time to recover from his health problems before the said ruling.

Wayne is positive that the jurors were pissed off at him because he didn't show up and testify. What the jurors didn't know was that he was sick at the time and couldn't fly to La.

One weird thing though is the fact that he was too sick to go to a court hearing but he wasn't that sick when he was out sitting in Miami at the courtside for the Heat game.

In an unexpected turn of events, Grammy Award-winning rapper, Lil Wayne has lost his lawsuit against Quincy Jones III, resulting in the rapper forking over $2.2 million to the producer, according to TMZ.

The site reports that a jury has ordered the multi-platinum Mc to pay the amount based on Jones’ countersuit that argued Weezy blocked the release of the docu-flick, "The Carter 3,” leading to lost profits.

David Banner Not Suing Producer of Lil Wayne's Documentary
Rapper David Banner has shot down reports he is suing producer Quincy Jones III for using his music without permission in a documentary about Lil Wayne. Banner, real name Lavell Crump, reportedly teamed up with music producer Darius 'Deezle' Harrison to filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Jones over his 2009 film "The Carter".

The heavyweight star co-wrote Lil Wayne's "La La" and "P**sy Monster" tracks, while Harrison helped to pen the Grammy-winning hit "Lollipop" - all of which are featured in the movie, which was distributed by Jones' QD3 Entertainment firm.

Reports suggested Banner and Harrison were seeking up to $150,000 for each infringement - but the hip-hop star is adamant there is no legal wrangle. He tells XXLmag.com, "Me and Quincy talked three days ago. Quincy's my homie, Wayne is my homie, whatever's going on between them, I don't know what that is, but they are both very close friends of mine.
