Peter Horton had good and bad news on Wednesday, March 13, as he updated fans on where things stand with the potential thirtysomething reboot. The actor, who played Gary Shepherd on the ABC drama that aired from 1987 to 1991, took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal that Amazon has backed out of plans to reboot the series. Horton had previously encouraged fans to “try blasting” Amazon Studios and MGM Studios about bringing back the series. However, all hope isn’t lost, as Horton explained in his tweet, “The bad news: Amazon has decided not to program our reboot. Good news: they gave us permission to take it out wide! Take it anywhere without encumbrance. This is big! So keep it up. Stay tuned for progress reports! Keep up the pressure!!!” His former co-star Mel Harris, who played Hope Steadman, also urged fans to keep up the pressure. “Keep posting using #whereisthirtysomething. It...

On March 16, 2020, Seth Rudetsky and James Wesley launched “Stars In The House” in response to what they knew would be an immediate need for funds in light of the Broadway shutdown.
Now, one year and over 375 episodes later, “Stars In The House” has raised over $715,000 for The Actors Fund, and an additional $200,000 for other charity organizations who have needed support throughout the pandemic.
“We can’t believe it has been a year! We continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity of our viewers, who send in donations from all over the world,” said Rudetsky and Wesley. “We thought that after the first few weeks, contributions would dwindle and the show would be more about bringing some joy and positivity during these dark times. But the fact that we have been able to do both – deliver fun and financial support – is beyond our wildest dreams. We are so grateful to our team behind the scenes,...

"I'm just sitting back and... letting life do what it does." Gravitas has released the first official trailer for an indie dark comedy called King of Knives, marking the feature directorial debut of cinematographer Jon Delgado. The title is reference to the tarot card (aka "King of Swords"). No relation to Knives Out, this one is about a New York City family the implodes over three days as they careen through mid-life and quarter-life crises. We've seen plenty of these dysfunctional family comedies before. Described as "a darkly funny take on the modern family," and a film "that two disparate generations can fully relate to." King of Knives stars Gene Pope, Mel Harris, Roxi Pope, Emily Bennett, Kara Young, and Emma Myles. I certainly can appreciate the honesty in this footage, and hopefully there's more of that during the rest of the film. Enjoy. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster...

ABC is making some big decisions about the future of some of its pilots.
The network has passed on the Revenge reboot, Thirtysomething sequel, The Brides, and Valley Trash.
Ahead of the Covid-19 pandemic forcing production to halt on all scripted series in the U.S., the Thirtysomething(else) was considered a shoo-in on the network's 2020-21 schedule.
The potential series first entered development earlier this year, with ABC later ordering a pilot presentation.
Here's the official logline:
Apparently, raising children -- even grown children -- never ends, but who could have known how hard it would be for them to raise their parents?
Reboot of the 1987-91 series 'Thirtysomething,' with emphasis on the original cast's children -- the new generation of thirtysomethings.
Returning original cast members include Ken Olin (Michael Steadman), Mel Harris (Hope Murdoch), Timothy Busfield (Elliot Weston), and Patty Wettig (Nancy Weston).

The new project will follow an ensemble of new faces playing the grown-up, 30-something children of the original cast reprised by Ken Olin (Michael Steadman), Mel Harris (Hope Murdoch), Timothy Busfield (Elliot Weston) and Patty Wettig (Nancy Weston).
Variety has confirmed Wood will star as Leo Steadman, Hope and Michael’s son and Janey’s brother. Wood recently appeared on the first two seasons of “Supergirl” as Mon-El. He is also known for playing Kai Parker on fellow CW series “The Vampire Diaries,” a role he recently reprised on the spinoff “Legacies.

Exclusive: Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick’s beloved 1987 drama series thirtysomething is making a comeback. I have learned that the duo is pitching a new incarnation of the show, which is garnering interest from multiple networks, including ABC, which aired the original series.
Written by thirtysomething creators Herskovitz and Zwick and to be directed by Zwick, I hear the followup series revolves around the children of the characters in the original show, which are now 30-something themselves. I hear the intention is for original cast members to reprise their roles but no one is set yet and there have been no formal talks.
The project hails from MGM TV, the studio behind the original series, which ran on ABC for four seasons.
Thirtysomething was a seminal series that captured the angst of the baby boomer generation and its struggles with real-life issues such as career, relationships, marriage, having kids and parenting.

“I’ve been married six times,” Harris, 60, says in an exclusive preview for Oprah: Where Are They Now? “It is what I am. Sometimes things work out, sometimes they don’t. Out of those I have two beautiful, wonderful children.”
