The Summer I Turned Pretty will not return this year. Amazon announced during its upfront presentation on Tuesday that the next season of the show, based on Jenny Han’s bestselling romance trilogy, has been delayed to 2025.
But while fans have to wait a bit longer, the network sweetened the deal by announcing that the upcoming third season will include 11 episodes rather than the previously announced 10. This is up from seven in Season One and eight in Season Two.

We've been obsessed with "The Summer I Turned Pretty" ever since we devoured the first season of the teen drama adapted from Jenny Han's cult-favorite YA book series in 2022. The Lola Tung-led show was a massive hit and put its young stars like Tung, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, and more on the map.
"The Summer I Turned Pretty" is a multigenerational drama that focuses on the protagonist, Isabel "Belly" Conklin's, summer at the fictitious Cousins Beach, which serves as a jumping-off point for the teenager to not only explore the wondrous, confusing, and heart-stopping phases of young love, but also to find herself.
Season one sees Belly become entangled in a love triangle as her lifelong crush, Conrad (Briney), begins to reciprocate her feelings just as his younger brother, Jeremiah (Casalegno), also begins to pursue her romantically. Belly chooses Conrad at the end of the season, but the cancer diagnosis of his mother,...

Her character may spend summers at the Fisher family’s Massachusetts beach house when high school’s not in session, but actor Lola Tung put college on hold to play Isabel “Belly” Conklin. Just as music is a big part of The Summer I Turned Pretty, the Amazon Prime Video original series’ star, Lola Tung, used it to get into character. What the actor listened to for a fast way to get into Isabel “Belly” Conklin’s “headspace” and what she looked for in songs.

Kim Petras’s “You Can’t Do Better” might’ve blared through the speakers as Belly sang along on the way to Cousins with her brother Steven (Sean Kaufman), and mother Laurel (Jackie Chung) in the Tsitp premiere episode. However, the track may not have made the cut for season 2 based on Tung’s description of her own Belly playlist that helped her get into character.
“It was a lot of slightly more emotional songs — songs that felt nostalgic,” she told The New York Times.

The talented cast of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" takes us on an emotional journey throughout the eight episodes of season two. The season delves into the aftermath of Susannah's death as the Cousins Beach group rally to save the summer house from being sold by her sister. And while the season excelled in some aspects, like Taylor and Steven's romantic tension, it fell short when it came to sensitively handling how the ripple effects of grief play out in the infamous love triangle between Belly, Conrad, and Jeremiah. There was no shortage of moments to cringe at, including Jeremiah's one-liners and mischievous lip bites or Belly's emotional outburst at Susannah's funeral. But there was one thing that stood out from the other moments, and that was how Belly (Lola Tung) continuously compared her loss and grief to that of Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney), Susannah's sons.

Conrad Fisher (Chris Briney) has almost no filter after he catches Belly (Lola Tung) making out with his brother Jeremiah in “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season 2 finale.
Conrad knows that Belly has always pined for him, but Season 2 shows that they gave a relationship a shot until it got to be too much for him along with his mother Susannah’s (Rachel Blanchard) cancer. Belly tried to tell him about her feelings for Jeremiah the night before his biology final, but he had finally fallen asleep from the near-all-nighter they pulled helping him study. Cruising off the feeling that he aced his final and that his mother’s beach house was safe, Conrad walks back to the car to interrupt the heavy make out sesh, initiated by Belly.

[This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for all of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2.] Season 2 of The Summer I Turned Pretty has officially come to an end as Belly (Lola Tung) seemingly made her choice between the Fisher brothers, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad (Christopher Briney). But the finale, “Love Triangle,” was about more than the title of the episode implies as it captured touching moments between Belly and Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) and also continued to further the romance between Belly’s best friend Taylor (Rain Spencer) and brother Steven (Sean Kaufman). It followed a cliffhanger ending to Episode 7, which saw Conrad catch Belly and Jeremiah kissing after waiting for him outside of his college finals. Needless to say, the scenario made for an awkward car ride as the trio headed to Belly’s family home in Pennsylvania after their stop at Brown University. (Credit: Prime Video) When a ...

[This story includes spoilers from the season two finale of The Summer I Turned Pretty.]
Season two of The Summer I Turned Pretty brought tears, laughter, heartbreak and a whirlwind year for Belly, Conrad, Jeremiah and the rest of the gang. Amid Susannah’s (Rachel Blanchard) death, a complicated love triangle and strained family relationships, this summer was an emotional rollercoaster not only for the characters, but also for the audience watching.
Creator Jenny Han recently told The Hollywood Reporter that while season one was a “sort of fantasy of summer love,” season two was about learning that “nothing lasts forever” — a harsh reality for all.
In the Prime Video series, based on Han’s book trilogy of the same name, Belly (Lola Tung) is navigating life as a teenager, and young love. Kyra Sedgwick crafted a detailed backstory for her character Aunt Julia, who catalyzes the plot for Season 2 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”
Julia is Susannah’s half-sister who inherits the Cousins Beach house after Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) dies between the first and second seasons of the show. To thwart Julia’s sale of the house, Susannah’s son Conrad goes missing. His brother Jeremiah and their joint love interest Belly join in to make the sale a living hell.
“It was good to be somebody who comes in and affects change. That’s a great character to play. When it comes to teen romance, Jenny Han is a force to be reckoned with. Her first onscreen success — Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before adaptation — played a pivotal role in reviving the romantic comedy genre back in 2018. Last year, Han took her storytelling prowess to television with another heartfelt book-to-screen adaptation: Prime Video’s The Summer I Turned Pretty.
The teen drama follows Isabel “Belly” Conklin (Lola Tung), a 16-year-old girl who has spent every summer at Cousins Beach. Unlike the first season, which introduced a debutante ball not present in the original novels, Season 2 caters more to book fans and remains fairly faithful to the source material, give or take a few changes. It matures in tandem with the characters, tackling heavier themes as everyone grapples with the weight of Susannah’s (Rachel Blanchard) death.

While viewers impatiently wait for new weekly episodes of “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” Jenny Han has another show and a set of movies available to stream. “Xo, Kitty” and the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” films contain similar themes of teenage love and coming of age. All three heroines in Han’s different works come from her books — “The Summer I Turned Pretty” trilogy or the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” trilogy.
If you want to go chronologically, it depends on whether you go by the books’ publish dates or the order in which they were adapted. For adaptation order, start with “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.” From there, you can either watch the spinoff show “Xo, Kitty” or break for Season 1 of “The Summer I Turned Pretty.” Plus, Han makes cameo appearances in each installment of her film series and shows.

When it came time to film a key musical scene in “The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season 2, star Chris Briney found relief in knowing that his character Conrad Fisher didn’t have to be a good singer, but the actor isn’t sure he ever wants to watch the scene himself.
In the third episode of Season 2, Belly (Lola Tung) flashes back to Susannah Fisher’s (Rachel Blanchard) funeral, specifically to the part where Conrad plays a song on the guitar that his mother always asked him to play.
“Figuring out what that moment was — Conrad’s not a singer. I didn’t want him to have this angelic voice,” he told TheWrap in an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike. “I haven’t seen it so I actually don’t know what it sounds or looks like and I really don’t think I ever want to.

It’s not summer without “The Summer I Turned Pretty.”
Prime Video’s hit teen drama has returned for Season 2. The first three episodes, which dropped on July 13, re-introduced its rabid fanbase to the world of 16-year-old Belly Conklin (Lola Tung), who spends summers with her family and friends at an idyllic house in Cousins Beach. Caught in a love triangle between two brothers, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) and Conrad Fisher (Chris Briney), Belly navigates romance and friendship — and, in Season 2, grief, for the first time.
A New York Times bestselling series written by Jenny Han, “The Summer I Turned Pretty” debuted on Prime Video in 2022, where it became the No. 1 show on the streaming service in its debut weekend. Han is also the co-showrunner of the series, alongside...

[This story includes spoilers from the first three episodes from The Summer I Turned Pretty season two, “Love Lost,” “Love Scene” and “Love Sick.”]
The Summer I Turned Pretty is finally back and Gavin Casalegno, who plays Jeremiah, is opening up about how the second season role came into his life.
Following the first season of the Prime Video series — which saw the beginning of what has become a drama-filled love triangle, as well as the return of Susannah’s (Rachel Blanchard) cancer — season two picks up after a year of trials and tribulations for the whole gang, including the death of Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah’s (Casalegno) mom.
Casalegno, Lola Tung, Briney, Sean Kaufman, Rain Spencer, David Iacono, Blanchard and Jackie Chung all return for the new season of the series from Jenny Han, who also wrote the book trilogy of the same name. This season also welcomes new faces, including Elsie Fisher and Kyra Sedgwick.

The television show of the summer for teens sprang from the pages of Jenny Han’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty” trilogy. Season 2 of the Prime Video series, which debuted July 14, takes on the events of the second book, “It’s Not Summer Without You.” As with Season 1, several changes were made to the adaptation for the small screen, such as the addition of new characters and the expansion of certain storylines. Other details, large and small, make the show a bit different from Han’s second book, but with the author also serving as showrunner on the series, these changes come naturally.
Season 1 had its own changes that ripple into Season 2, such as Jeremiah’s bisexuality, Laurel’s career as an author (she is a professor in the books) and more. Kyra Sedgewick and Elsie Fisher joined Season 2 as completely new characters that don’t exist in the books.

[This interview was conducted prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike authorization.] [Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2, Episodes 1-3.] The Summer I Turned Pretty is back and already breaking hearts with the up-and-down love story between Belly Conklin (Lola Tung) and Conrad Fisher (Christopher Briney), whose time together unfolds in two different timelines. The first timeline picks up during the summer of Season 1, just as Belly and Conrad’s relationship is beginning, and the second timeline kicks off at the start of the following summer, at which point Conrad isn’t even speaking to Belly, nor is his brother Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). With the reveal that Conrad and Jeremiah’s mother Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) has also died from cancer, this new summer doesn’t have the same kind of promise the previous one did. The structure is reminiscent of Jenny Han‘s books on which this series is based. As the creator and showrunner ...

While watching the first three episodes of "The Summer I Turned Pretty" season two - released Friday, July 14, on Amazon Prime Video - I came back to one thought over and over: can someone be nice to Belly?! Stop reading if you haven't watched yet, but when the show picks up, the school year is about to end, and Belly (Lola Tung) is bereft because their family friend Susannah (Rachel Blanchard) has died about a month ago. Susannah's illness has hung over the whole school year, with Belly's mom, Laurel (Jackie Chung), spending a lot of time going back and forth to the Fisher house to lend a hand to Susannah, Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno), and Conrad (Christopher Briney).
Belly, meanwhile, has struggled basically since the last summer ended. Her grades aren't as good. She underperformed on her volleyball team. Of course, this all makes sense given what she's gone through,...

‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ Star Sean Kaufman Explains Why Season 2 Feels ‘Crazy Different’ (Video)
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” Season 2 delves into some summertime sadness, and the actors found it tough to stay in the season’s dramatic headspace for too long.
“Whatever acting method people choose to use —replacement or method — it’s tough because it’s like I’m surrounded by funny people in a loving environment, and all I want to do — especially in moments of like extreme vulnerability like that — is to crack a joke to ease the tension or not let myself go there because it’s too painful,” Sean Kaufman, who plays Steven on the show, told TheWrap in an interview conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike. “To actually allow yourself to go there, especially day after day after day, like a lot of Season 2, it’s tough.”

Jenny Han’s “The Summer I Turned Pretty” television adaptation made a splash last summer with all kinds of young adult romance and drama. Lola Tung brought main character Isabel “Belly” Conklin to life as she returned to Cousins Beach, where she has spent every summer of her childhood with her mother’s best friend Susannah Fisher (Rachel Blanchard) and her sons Conrad (Christopher Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). Belly’s glow-up did not go unnoticed by both Fisher brothers, but she opted to strike up a romance with Cam Cameron (David Iacono) instead before things got a bit messy. A volleyball tournament and debutante ball drove last season’s plot, as did certain relationships.
Season 2 launched July 14 with new episodes rolling out weekly, expanding upon the events that drove the end of Season 1 home — Susannah’s cancer diagnosis, Belly and Conrad’s kiss and more. Kyra Sedgwick and Elsie Fisher...

In "The Summer I Turned Pretty" season two, the whole cast are reeling in the aftermath of the death of Susannah (Rachel Blanchard). As viewers watch what this first Susannah-less summer has in store for the characters, we also see flashbacks to the past year, including Susannah's funeral. In episode three, released alongside the first two episodes on July 14, Conrad (Christopher Briney) takes out a guitar and performs Pearl Jam's "Last Kiss" in honor of his late mom. Before giving his brief and heart-wrenching performance, he notes that Susannah always asked him to play it for her.
In the Jenny Han books the series is based on, Conrad does play guitar (though there's no mention of him singing). Although he doesn't play guitar or sing in the rest of season two, fans might wonder if that's really Briney singing the emotional song during the episode.

Belly Conklin is back in the official trailer for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2.
Unfortunately for Belly, the tone in the just-released footage is anything but pretty.
Ever since its debut on Prime Video last summer, the series has focused on the relationship between the characters as they try to come to terms with the pitfalls of being a teenager.
The new trailer has a somber tone that won't let up as we witness Belly's struggle about whether Conrad or Jeremiah is right for her.
There are also hints that Belly might be losing someone close to her, possibly for good, which leaves us with more questions than answers as we await fresh episodes of the teen drama.
To help hit you right in the feels, Prime Video included Taylor Swift's "Back to December (Taylor's Version)" and August.

Padilla began his agency career at ICM where he trained under agent Toni Howard before being promoted in 2007 in the Motion Picture Talent Department. He also had a stint at Greene & Associates Talent Agency before joining Buchwald. Padilla began his career in casting at Cfb Casting.

Jones, Poppy Liu, Louis Ozawa, Dar Salim (The Covenant), and Amanda Warren (East New York).
Kammer joined Buchwald at the top of 2021 after a 16-year run at TalentWorks, where she served as VP of Talent. Kammer began her agency career at Coast to Coast Talent Group followed by Gersh, and then eventually joined TalentWorks as an agent in 2005, two years after its launch.
Kammer’s client list includes Fernanda Andrade, Ray Cham (Sort Of, The Big Leap), Amanda Crew (Silicon Valley), Matthew Del Negro, Simone Joy Jones (Bel-Air), Parveen Kaur (Manifest), Jason Lee, Wentworth Miller (Prison Break), Ravi Patel, Tamara Podemski, Judy Reyes as well as Ted Field and his Radar Pictures.
“Angelo and Marion exemplify many of the qualities we value at Buchwald. Their promotions are a direct reflection of their consistent and ongoing commitment to hard work, collaboration, and leadership. One of the most exciting and gratifying components of our continued evolution is getting to acknowledge those who make an extraordinary contribution to our growth and success. In elevating them, we elevate the company,” said Julia Buchwald and Ryan Martin in a joint statement.
Buchwald recently upped Rob Kim to its management team as co-head of the agency’s west coast office, where he serves in this position alongside Ryan Martin and Julia Buchwald, who also serves as the agency’s president.
