Pierce Brosnan has revealed how Robin Williams saved one of his most dreaded Mrs Doubtfire scenes.
The actors starred together in the 1994 comedy, which was directed by Chris Columbus, with former Bond star Brosnan reflecting on the experience in a new interview.
Discussing his past credits in a recent interview with GQ, Brosnan, who will next be seen in Black Adam, spoke specifically about a scene in the film in which he has a lime lobbed at the back of his head by Williams’s character, Daniel Hillard, while he is carrying a drinks tray.
Hillard does this after Brosnan’s character, Stu, the new boyfriend of his ex-wife (Sally Field), calls him “a loser” under his breath.
Explaining what happened to Stu, Hillard says: “Oh sir, I saw it! Some angry member of the kitchen staff – did you not tip them? Oh, the terrorist, they ran that way; it was a run-by fruiting.

When Lisa Jakub showed up to audition as the oldest daughter of Robin Williams and Sally Field in Mrs. Doubtfire, she was introduced to a matronly Scottish woman. Jakub thought she was talking to the mother of director Chris Columbus, who was in production on the movie that turned out to be an enduring classic comedy after opening Nov. 24, 1993.
“I remember being introduced to Chris Columbus’ mother and thinking I had to really make small talk and be charming because this was my boss’ mom,” said Jakub, who was 14 when she made the film. “I wanted to make a good impression. It wasn’t until later that I realized [it was Williams]. I totally fell for it.”
It didn’t take that long for Matthew Lawrence, then 12, to realize that something was going on. “I started to catch on because I was a working kid. But definitely for two or three minutes I was sitting next to Mrs. Doubtfire...

Lisa Jakub, played the role of Robin Williams' daughter in his classic movie hit 'Mrs Doubtfire'. She was only 14 years old then. However due to the demands of filming, her high school kicked her out of school.

Mrs. Doubtfire star Mara Wilson reacts to Robin Williams' tragic death.
It's no secret that child actress Mara Wilson had a unique bond with the late Robin Williams given that she played his youngest daughter in 1993's Mrs. Doubtfire, and on Thursday she took to her personal blog to express her intense grief over the news that the beloved actor died Monday.
"Everybody grieves in their own way. When I heard about Robin's death, I was shocked, confused angry, regretful, and above all, sad," she writes. "All I wanted was to talk to my family and friends and cry. A few news outlets asked if I would be willing to talk about him on the air, and while I usually like interviews, I knew I wasn't in a good place to do that. I still (a whole three days later) don't want to do any. It's too soon, and I need my own time to process...

Robin Williams’ death has, most likely, put an end to the potential sequel to his 1993 hit Mrs. Doubtfire.
Mrs. Doubtfire Sequel Likely Cancelled
Mrs. Doubtfire, one of Williams’ most beloved roles, is a family classic, and talk of a sequel has been around for years. Mrs. Doubtfire 2 was reportedly in early stages of development, with director Chris Columbus tied to the project. Elf screenwriter David Berenbaum was working on the script for Fox, but neither Williams nor Columbus had officially signed on to the project. However, the film is reportedly unlikely to get made in light of Williams’ passing. Fox has yet to make an official decision regarding the project, but it’s unclear whether or not Columbus would return to the story without his star.
Following Williams’ death, Columbus released a statement calling Williams “one of this generation’s greatest actors.”
Columbus went on to praise Williams as a true comedic genius,...

Heartfelt tributes to Robin Williams continue to pour in from his friends and former costars. The common thread in all of them is that he was not only an amazing talent but also — as his Mrs. Doubtfire costar Lisa Jakub wrote in a moving blog post after his death — an "incredibly kind human being." Jakub, who played Williams' eldest daughter in the 1993 comedy, took to her website following his death on Aug. 11 to memorialize the late comedic actor. In her post, she recalled [...]...

For so many of us, Robin Williams was part of our childhood through his movies. But for Lisa Jakub and Matthew Lawrence, he was a part of childhood through their work on one of those movies, Mrs. Doubtfire. Lisa, now 35, played Williams' oldest daughter Lydia in the beloved 1993 film, while Matthew, now 34, played his son Chris. Just as Robin's real-life children Zak, Zelda and Cody were touched by his kind and generous soul, so were his onscreen kids. (You can read the reaction of Mara Wilson, who played Robin's youngest daughter in Mrs. Doubtfire, here.) In a heartfelt blog post written Monday, Lisa, who retired from acting in 2001, remembered Williams as "an incredibly kind human being." She...

Before retiring from Hollywood, Lisa Jakub played Robin Williams's teenage daughter in Mrs. Doubtfire. Recently, she took time to look back on that part of her life and offer a personal, heartfelt farewell to Williams on her personal blog. Here is what she had to say. "When I was 14 years old, I went on location to film Mrs. Doubtfire for five months," Jakub writes. "My high school was not happy. My job meant an increased workload for teachers, and they were not equipped to handle a 'non-traditional' student. So, during filming, they kicked me out." "When I arrived at work the next day,...

Should Robin Williams’ Mrs. Doubtfire sequel become a reality, there is one actress who will definitely not be reprising her role in the classic 90s comedy: Mara Wilson.
Wilson, now 26, was just five years old when she got her breakout role in Mrs. Doubtfire as the youngest of three children, Natalie Hillard. Wilsen went on to earn a place in pop culture history when she played Susan Walker in the 1994 remake of Miracle on 34th Street, and is perhaps most beloved for her starring turn in Matilda (1996) After the 90s came to a close, Wilson left professional acting behind, and says she has no intention of picking up where she left off in Hollywood should she be asked to participate in a Mrs. Doubtfire sequel.
“For the record, no, I do not have anything to do with the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel, nor will I,” Wilson proclaimed on Twitter Thursday, April...

Get those dinner reservations in order - a sequel to Mrs. Doubtfire is in the works. Robin Williams and director Chris Columbus are attached to the 1993 family comedy's sequel, which is in development at Fox 2000. Elf screenwriter David Berenbaum is writing the script, which means you can possibly expect a scene where Mrs. Doubtfire's engines are revived by the power of Christmas. As the project appears to be very early in the development process, there is no word on a release date, nor which children Williams will need to pose as an elderly Scottish woman caring for them. Mara Wilson,...

Maybe these child stars are the smart ones — the ones who escaped Hollywood before their fame trains collided. They're the ones who could offer Amanda Bynes some advice. Before anyone calls these former stars has-beens, consider paying regards to their success at finding stability. Still, we miss you guys! The world isn't the same without Kimmy Gibbler and Ferguson Darling.

We love a good where-are-they-now story. Apparently so does Lisa Jakub, who you probably know better as that girl from "Mrs. Doubtfire" and "Independence Day." Not wanting to leave us confused as to her whereabouts, Jakub has quenched our desire to follow her post-child star moves by creating a blog in which she provides updates on her life after Hollywood.
A recent photo of Lisa Jakub.
Jakub, now 34, calls it "A blog about acting. And then not acting." In a nutshell, she abandoned her pre-pubescent Hollywood fame upon realizing "there must be more to life than premieres and pretending to be other people." On her blog, which she started in March, Jakub writes that she didn't want to become a "cautionary tale," like the many other child stars who've veered down paths of drug abuse and eating disorders -- an appropriate missive given the recent party antics of Amanda Bynes and Lindsay Lohan.
