Mahesh Kothare is an Indian actor, film director and producer of Marathi and Hindi films. He has worked in Indian cinema from a young age and acted in well-known movies such as Raja Aur Runk, Chhota Bhai, Mere Laal, and Ghar Ghar ki Kahani. The well known Hindi song Tu kitni achhi hai tu kitni bholi hai o maa from the film Raja Aur Runk features Kothare as Master Mahesh.
Considered a revolutionary figure in the Marathi film industry, he began his directorial career with the groundbreaking Dhumdhadaka (1985) and has since delivered many box office hits over a period of 20 years. Kothare's films are known for their technical nuances and fantasy concepts and he is one of the few Indian film makers who have made successful films in the fantasy genre.
Kothare made the first Marathi film in true 3D, Zapatlela 2, a box office hit which was released on 7 June 2013 and was the sequel to his 1993 box office blockbuster Zapatlela. Nagraj Popatrao Manjule (born 24 August 1978) is an Indian film director, actor, producer, scriptwriter, poet, screenwriter, filmmaker and he works in the Marathi Cinema. Manjule grew up in Jeur village in the Solapur district of Maharashtra. He belongs to the traditionally-nomadic Waddar community, a Dravidian tribe.
He earned his M.A. in Marathi literature from University of Pune, followed by a master's in communication studies from New Arts, Science and Commerce College, Ahmednagar. His first National Award-winning short film Pistulya is a reflection of his 'felt experience'.
His debut feature film, Fandry, was released in February 2014.
Manjule's second film, Sairat, premiered at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival. Like Fandry and Pistulya, it deals with caste discrimination and honour killing, a practice still widespread in parts of India. Sairat is currently the highest grossing Marathi film of all time.
Manjule is making his directorial debut in hindi films with Jhund starring Amitabh Bachchan. he known for his Marathi film Sairat, short-film Pistulya for which he received National Film Award in Non-Feature Film category.
At the 61st National Film Awards, Fandry won the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director. In 2018, Manjule published a book of poetry in Marathi titled Unhachya Katavirudhha which won the Bhairuratan Damani Sahitya Puraskar.- Writer

Ravi Jadhav, one of the most influential filmmakers in the Marathi film industry was born and brought up in Mumbai. His artistic knowledge comes from his years in Sir JJ School Of Applied Art where he studied graphic design and visual communications. He was associated with FCB Ulka as a creative director and displayed exceptional creative skills in his clutter breaking advertising work.
His first venture into filmmaking, 'Natrang' was a success and went on to receive many awards including the National Award for best Marathi film and was received well in film festivals around the globe. It was followed by 'Balgandharva' which won the national award for best playback singer, costume and makeup and then 'Balak Palak(BP)',which was applauded for handling the delicate subject of sex education. these three films dealt with sensitive topics that are relevant in the society. He brought variation to his style by directing romcom like 'Timepass' which was the highest grossing Marathi film of 2014, it was followed by its sequel 'Timepass 2'. He even ventured into Bollywood by directing Banjo starring Riteish Deshmukh and Nargis Fakri. Continuing with his artistic ventures he made a National Award winning short film called 'Mitraa' which deals with the freedom and rights of people belonging to the LGBT community. His latest movie is titled 'Nude' and deals with the lives of nude models who work in the field of fine art. The critically acclaimed film received the best film and best actress award at New York Film Festival.
Ravi Jadhav also produced three unique Marathi films namely 'Rege', 'Coffee Ani Barach Kahi' and '& Jara Hatke' which were critically acclaimed. He collaborated with Shekhar Ravjiani and wrote two songs 'Saazani' & 'Saavli'. Sachin Pilgaonkar often known by his first name Sachin, is an Indian film and television actor, director, singer and producer. Starting as a child in the Marathi film, Ha Majha Marg Ekla (1962), he went on to work in around 65 films as a child artist, before switching to adult roles, and being part of films like Geet Gaata Chal (1975), Balika Badhu (1976), Ankhiyon Ke Jharokhon Se (1978) and Nadiya Ke Paar (1982) as a lead actor, which were all successful. He has worked in Hindi, Marathi and also in Bhojpuri cinema, and has acted, produced and directed successful comedy shows on Indian television, including Tu Tu Main Main (2000) and Kadvee Khatti Meethi. He also directed several hit Marathi Films starting with Mai Baap (1982), Navri Mile Navryala (1984), Ashi Hi Banwa Banwi (1988), Amchyasarkhe Aamich (1990) and Navra Mazha Navsacha (2004).
Sachin Pilgaonkar was born in Mumbai in a Konkani family from Pilgaon, Goa. His father Sharad Pilgaonkar managed a printing business in Mumbai. His father was a film producer. He is married to actress Supriya Pilgaonkar (née Sabnis), whom he first directed for his debut Marathi film, Navri Mile Navryala (1984) and subsequently became successful pair in Marathi cinema. Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni is an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India and is one of the most important contemporary voices in Indian cinema. He has an immense body of work, having made critically and commercially acclaimed feature films and short films. His films like Girni and Three of Us have been screened in more than ten international film festivals including the Clermont Ferrand, Rotterdam, Oberhausen and Berlinale Film Festival. Girni has also won the National Awards for Best Short Film and President's Gold Medal for Best Direction. His first feature film Valu was a significant film for Marathi cinema. It is amongst the few Marathi films that kept the box office collection on an upward swing and also traveled to more than 30 International film festivals. He then went on to work on features like Vihir and Deool, which won three National Awards including the Best Feature Film of the year. Apart from that, he has been invited as a jury in festivals like Clermont Ferrand, Karlovy Vary Film Festival, Cairo Film Festival, Thai Film Festival, International Film Festival of Kerala. He also conducts extensive workshops and film clubs for young filmmakers. His feature Highway was critically acclaimed for its representation of the cross section of society through an ensemble cast and was screened in the New York Indian film festival.
