With a budget of $43 million, it is the most expensive animated film co-produced in South Korea. The film received moderately negative reviews, although it grossed $120.9 million worldwide against a production budget of $43 million. A sequel titled The Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature was released on August 11, 2017.

The Lego Movie premiered in Los Angeles on February 1, 2014, and was released in the United States on February 7. It became commercially success, grossing $468.1 million worldwide against its $60–65 million budget, and was critically acclaimed for its animation, acting, story, and humor. The National Board of Review selected The Lego Movie as one of the top films of the year. It was nominated for Best Original Song at the 87th Academy Awards, and received numerous accolades. The Lego Movie is the first entry in what would become the franchise of the same name, which includes three more films—The Lego Batman Movie (2017), The Lego Ninjago Movie (2017), and The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part (2019).

The Wind Rises was the highest-grossing Japanese film in Japan in 2013. It was critically acclaimed and nominated for several awards, including the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and the Japan Academy Prize for Animation of the Year.

This was also the final Rio film to be produced by Blue Sky Studios before its closure on April 10, 2021. A sequel is in development.

The film won six Annie Awards, including Best Animated Feature. The final installment in the trilogy, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, was released on February 22, 2019.

Planes: Fire & Rescue premiered at the El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles on July 15, 2014 and was theatrically released on July 18, 2014 in the Disney Digital 3D and RealD 3D formats. The film received mixed reviews from critics, with many calling it an improvement over its predecessor, and grossed $147 million worldwide on a $50 million budget.

The film was released in the United States on September 26, 2014 by Focus Features, and received mixed-to-positive reviews from critics. It earned $108 million on a $60 million budget. It was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, a Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film and a BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film, but lost to Big Hero 6, How to Train Your Dragon 2 and The LEGO Movie, respectively.

The film received positive reviews and was financially successful, grossing over $657.8 million worldwide and becoming the highest-grossing animated film of 2014. It won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and the Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Animated Movie. It also received nominations for the Annie Award for Best Animated Feature and the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film. It was also nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Animated Film, but lost to The Lego Movie. Big Hero 6 was released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on February 24, 2015. A television series, which continues the story of the film, aired from 2017 to 2021 on Disney Channel and Disney XD. Another series, Baymax!, is set to premiere on June 29, 2022 on Disney+.

Penguins of Madagascar was released theatrically on November 26, 2014, in 2D, 3D and RealD 3D formats making it the only film in the Madagascar franchise to be distributed by 20th Century Fox as well as the final DreamWorks Animation film to be produced by Pacific Data Images prior to its closure on January 22, 2015, as well as DWA Glendale taking over. While the film received generally positive reviews from critics, who praised the humor, animation, soundtrack, voice acting, and action scenes, it was a box office bomb, grossing $373 million on a $132 million budget and resulted in a write-down $57.1 million for the studio.
