Born in New York and adopted at birth, Joanne was raised in Northern New Jersey, just outside of New York City. Early on, she excelled in athletics, often displaying her gymnastic talent on the peak of the roof of her house, much to her parent's horror and later, in high school, as a state ranked athlete in track and field. She attended the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, studying Marine Science and Physics, but decided to follow a much different path to become a stunt performer and made the move to Orlando when Universal Studios had actual working sound stages and often filmed television shows and movies. After working "stunt / game safety" and as the "Resident Mermaid" on Nickelodeon's GUTS, she moved to California on January 14, 1994. On January 17th, the Northridge earthquake occurred making it nearly impossible to find safe housing. A few months later, she moved back to N. NJ to pursue a stunt career in the New York City market. Upon Meeting Danny Aiello III, at a wrap party for a film, he told her that he could use her on a show he was running and less than a week later, Danny called, giving her, her first professional stunt job and ability to join the Screen Actors Guild. Joanne still owns a winter home in Florida where she enjoys the ability to SCUBA right off the beach, kayak the rivers and bays and where she can easily train with her firearms, but remains mostly in the NYC area where she enjoys the theater and often says if she had "real talent that didn't involve gravity, she would have loved to perform musical theater".
She is an advocate for adoptee rights to obtain original birth certificates and documents in closed record states and for abused and neglected children.- Stunts

Rochelle became a member of and competed internationally for the Great Britain Gymnastics Team at the age of 10. In 1996, she became the Great Britain National Gymnastics Champion and retained the title for 3 consecutive years.

At the age of 14, BBC produced and aired a one hour documentary called 'Going for Gold,' focusing primarily on her goals of competing in the 2000 Olympics. Unfortunately, her dreams fell short when the International Gymnastics Federation (FGI) announced that a competitor must now be 16 years of age to compete in the Olympics. Rochelle was turning 15, and sadly, was one year shy of being eligible to qualify.
With the Olympics another 4 years out of her reach, her family decided the best thing to do was pack it in and return to Canada, in the hopes that she would continue her career on the Canadian National team. Rochelle, however had other plans. She resigned from gymnastics, attained a B.Sc. degree in Psychology from the University of Northern British Columbia in 2006. She graduated amongst her peers a year early, both in high school and University. After completion of her degree and graduation, Rochelle worked with and counselled children and youth with developmental disabilities, mental illnesses and cognitive & behavioural issues in and outside the school system for several years.
In an effort to keep challenging herself physically and mentally, Rochelle journeyed into the world of martial arts; training and competing in the disciplines of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai and fulfilling an amateur and professional Boxing career. In 2008 she went down in history as having the first, female professional boxing bout in British Columbia. She also attained a Personal Training Diploma and began helping others achieve their fitness goals. Rochelle is also the founder and was the co-owner of a successful and very well known MMA gym located in Vancouver, BC, Canada formerly known as, Tristar Vancouver Martial Arts
Rochelle's books and motivational talks focus primarily on guiding others on how to stand in their power through overcoming their adversities and turn their pain into power. After facing and conquering a life full of hardships and adversity and succeeding, Rochelle has become an advocate for women empowerment and helping others to heal their childhood wounds and traumas; she speaks to our youth, future generations and adults and is a walking example of how one can turn a life of adversity into a life of diversity and abundance. She teaches others that light can be understood through the wisdom of darkness, and through introspection and self-love we are all capable of becoming the best versions of ourselves.
