Sanjay Leela Bhansali turns 60 on February 24, 2022. He started his career as a director with the critically acclaimed Khamoshi the Musical (1996). His films often feature songs of Indian folk music and grand production sets. "Nimbuda", "Dola Dola", "Nagada Sang Dhol", "Pinga", "Dholida", etc. are considered to be some of the all-time classic songs.
He prefers colorful backgrounds and costumes as shown in his filmography, but he has presented black/blue with such a grandeur in Black (2010), Guzaarish (2010), and Saawariya (2007). Controversy has surrounded his more recent movies for their polarizing portrayal of segments of society and for historical misrepresentations. But, despite these issues, his movies have gone on to be among the highest grossing movies in India cinema.
