Seria Comisarul Moldovan și Comisarul Roman (1972-2008)

Set in post war Romania, a communist who was tortured by the fascists during the war is now a police detective and sets about clearing his city of gangsters and black marketeers.

Mihai Roman, the partner of the ex commissar Miclovan tries hard to see Miclovan's assassin, Semanca, portrayed by George Constantin, behind bars. Because the court didn't have enough evidence, Semanca is set free. In his desperate efforts to imprison Semanca, Mihai Roman receive another mission and another partner in the same time. The new partner, Oarca seems to be an ex servant who is good at everything, and he is one of the best at driving on serpentine.

After defeating some Iron Guard gangs in Bucharest, those who survived were hiding somewhere in the mountains. Several bloody events took place in one of the smaller villages. In the unequal struggle with criminals entered the former police commissioner who meanwhile became a Major in Romanian Comunist Police, Mihai Roman.

In the night of November 26-27, 1940, the Death Teams executed 40 political prisoners in the Viraga prison. The next day, other two Teams arrested and shot the former minister Virgil Madgearu and the world famous historian Nicolae Iorga.

After Iron Guard member Paraipan discovers that commissioner Moldovan had staged his own death, he kidnaps Moldovan's son in order to draw him out. Tensions build up resulting in a final epic confrontation.

The Moldovan commissioner has to solve the case of a robbery of the central bank, with the help of Petrescu, a novice partner.

After WWII "Comisarul Moldovan" (Sergiu Nicolaescu, Petr Falc) spent years as a political prisoner of the Communist regime. The favorite entertainment of the Russian Colonel in charge of the prison was to have the inmates play Russian Roulette. Only his unbelievable luck and survivor spirit helped Moldovan live through his detention. Out of the prison the ex-policeman joins an international Russian Roulette illegal gaming circuit. In the late 1970s, faith brings him to a Central European town where Goldberg (Vladimir Gaitan, Cristian Motiu), an old acquaintance of his, is organizing an "improved" version of the game--where two opponents shoot each other. Step by step Moldovan meets lots of familiar faces, both friends and enemies and feels like he's in a reunion of the 1940s Bucharest underworld.
