Around the time, I was watching Gotham, which I found more entertaining. The first 4 seasons are really good, but I lost attention later on. Plots are usually uncreative, filled with scenes just to drag it out. But the dialogue was really good. I really need to rewatch this now that I have a greater appreciation for dialogue-based shows. - CreatorMichael HirstStarsKatheryn WinnickGustaf SkarsgårdAlexander LudwigVikings transports us to the brutal and mysterious world of Ragnar Lothbrok, a Viking warrior and farmer who yearns to explore--and raid--the distant shores across the ocean.9.0

Nearly perfect. Jinx was a meh villain as she just kind of went crazy which is just a trope I don't like all that much. Jayce was sort of a Mary Sue throughout. Jinx and Echo's relationship wasn't fleshed out nearly enough for the impact it was trying to bring. But apart from that, this had everything I ever wanted in a tv series. The use of music is amazing. The action is superb and the emotional moments hit. - CreatorYoshihiro TogashiStarsIssei FutamataMegumi HanCristina ValenzuelaGon Freecss aspires to become a Hunter, an exceptional being capable of greatness. Still watching right now, and I must say this show has great characters, scenarios, and fights. But it has a lot of boring stuff for me. Some episodes have too much exposition and some arcs have too many characters. There is some bad stuff, but it is very addicting. I hope I don't become a disgusting weeb.
Edit: This show will take me a while to finish. I'm currently playing Dark Souls 2 for the first time and watching several movies. So this show might take me longer than expected to finish.
Edit: I'm only halfway in, but I'm starting to watch it with my 8-year-old brother. *TRAUMATIZE SPEEDRUN*
Edit: OML Yorknew Arc got amazing by the end. I'm bumping my rating to a 9.4 (used to be 9). The tragedy of the Phantom Troupe is so well done. It's just so amazing. Nearly cried.
Edit: Greed Island arc is soo underrated. It was cute with amazing world-building. It had some great fights and some amazing characters. Too much exposition kills some parts of the arc. It starts pretty rough, but it gets better.
Edit: I'm at around episode 120 and this arc is amazing yet flawed. Too much narration, Too much exposition, and just overall it takes a while to get good. Im currently loving it. I think after I finish both AOT and HXH I'll watch Good Omens.
Edit: OML I finished Chimera Ant arc. This arc kinda broke me. Incredibly emotional with complex storylines and deep characters. This show started out as a 8.9 and now its a 9.7 making me round this to a 10.
Edit: I'm finally done with it and it was amazing honestly. - StarsJessie James GrelleBryce PapenbrookTrina NishimuraAfter his hometown is destroyed and is traumatized, young Eren Jaeger vows to cleanse the earth of the giant humanoid Titans that have brought humanity to the brink of extinction.9.6
Well, I've been watching Hunter x Hunter with my younger brother and The Office for some comic relief. But I wanted something more like Arcane that I could watch alone. So I started this show. I'm currently loving it. I have tons of tests and am learning Japanese as my fourth language so I might not have much time for movies and shows as I used to. But I'll usually be able to watch at least one episode of this per day.
(Spoilers)
Season 1; Ep 1-4: The first episode is one of the best pilots I've ever seen. Sadly they went for the "future shows before it happens" approach. The whole first episode was predictable, but I still felt emotions. The second episode is nice ig. It builds on the first in a great way and I see it just as an extension of it. Episode 3 introduced too many characters. I liked Shasha. The fourth one disappointed me in the beginning. I feel like they skimmed over the training which could've helped care even more about the characters. But the ending was awesome.
Season 1; Ep 5-13: What an arc, really. The first episode of the arc shook me to the core. This arc really knows how to terrify you and make you feel hopeless only to turn everything around in the last second. As soon as the Titan-eating Titan appeared, I knew it was Eren. This got a lot of development out of characters even while being action-packed. Some problems I have with this arc are predictability and how long it takes to be proven right about it. Like I know something will happen and it takes a whole 15 minutes for that to happen. It severely dulled it for me. The arc's idea of build-up is dragging everything up x100. Primal Desire is just a straight-up MASTERPIECE. From the animation to the tension, it's perfect. Favorite episode so far.
Season 1; Ep 14-16: I actually really like this arc because it actually slows down to focus more on worldbuilding and character. Some characters are still lacking in motivation such as Sasha. She doesn't have a strong reason to join the scouts. Again this show has the problem of overextending things we know won't happen. It's obvious Eren won't die so it's better not to put that as the biggest tension so many times. The best episode of this arc was Hazi's one. It was all just excellently thought out world-building.
Season 1; Ep 17-22: This is truly some of the best tv I have ever seen. This arc took what I liked about the Trost arc and amplified and improved upon it. It's a desperate arc with deep themes. The action here is perfect and tense. Animation does have some dips in quality here and there. But my god, I was not ready for ep 21. The best thing about it is how we see Eren's mind process throughout the whole episode. The music and oh, the goddamn fight scene. It's a desperate and hard-to-watch episode that left me glued to the screen.
Season 1; Ep 23-25: Okay, this arc was great and all, but the twist was very predictable. The scene where Eren transformed was beautiful and my favorite scene in the show.
Season 1: Overall review.
The show is definitely not perfect right now.
The show lacks meaningful character interaction and development. It really makes emotional moments not as emotional. Whenever we need to care the story just flashbacks and tries to make us care right before killing that character. It really needed more time in its training arc. There is a lot of good characterization though. Now, this is purely personal but Shasha's eating disorder should have been explored better.
The Pacing was a little off especially in the boulder episode, but apart from that, it's amazingly perfect.
Season 2
Episode 1: This episode immediately established this season would be somehow more unsettling than the first. I don't really love this episode or anything, it's just a nice start
Episode 2: It fixed a little nitpick I had about Shasha and officially turned her into one of the best characters in the show. Such a horrifying episode.
Episode 3-5: This was an amazing arc, but kinda predictable as always. Let me teach you a trick. If anyone in the show says, "OMG we almost have them, we are so close to winning" they will all die. This arc desperately tries to fix the biggest mistake of season 1. Not enough time. Now the show will rely on flashbacks for most of it.
Episode 6: This being rated 9.9 gave me too much hype and it didn't really live up to that for me. It's a slow burner and the ending is pretty masterfully done. Pity, it was predictable. Too much obvious foreshadowing.
Episode 7-9: Close Combat is probably the best so far. The worst thing about it is the animation for the colossal. But at least Eren was competent. The two other episodes are great. They just serve to make me like Ymir and Historia more.
Ep 10-12: An emotional rollercoaster that won't stop till you are passed out. We are just left confused on what side we should be on. There are flaws on all sides. I really liked Reiner and I don't know if I still do. It's all just simply amazing.
So overall, It's an improvement over the first, but it might be too late in some elements.
Season 3 Part A: (I watched the OVAs before this season btw). The highlight of this part was definitely Historia and Levi. The show has gotten very good at character development, but worse in exposition. It's all very good, but the show flashbacks so much that some characters say, "I had a flashback." Historia is the best character in the show. The episode "Wish" is so goddamn amazing. I loved every second of it. Definitely a great part of a season ig.
Season 3 Part B: The best television I have watched since Arcane. It becomes a Japanese War Horror with extremely deep themes. The story is beautifully thought out in every element. The story is incredibly tense with a plot twist every few moments. This made me feel desperate and without hope. The episode "Hero" is probably the best episode I've ever seen on television. The only problem is that I wish Armin would have actually died. I would've cried for nights on end. The episode "That Day" and "Attack Titan" are very overrated sadly. Too much exposition. This show doesn't build up certain elements slowly, but instead flashbacks. The serum and thunder spears are perfect examples of that. Please show, learn to do buildup. The scene where they go to the sea is the best scene In the show.
Season 4 Part A: A downgrade in animation for understandable reasons, but still breathtaking in characterization and writing. The themes are beautifully written and the action is amazing if not for the terrible Cg (I know some call it good but it isn't believable for me). The atmosphere is so well made and it's balance of emotion is great. This is a downgrade from Season 3 Part B as there are many meh episodes where not much happens. Assault is massively overrated IMO and I don't see why it's such a masterpiece, but the episodes before and after combined make an emotional masterpiece. Savegery was my fave this part.
Season 4 Part B: Both the best and worst of the show. The first half for me is perfect. The revelations, the arcs, the characters, everything. It's perfect. The story is the best I have ever seen unfold before me. The second half I would call incredibly terrible in pacing and just boring. I know that isn't much of a criticism, but I'm not trying to critique. It just isn't as good as what came before and could've been much better paced. The dialogue is simplistic and the animation, though improved, shows how an actual art style goes a long way. But as soon as Traitor comes the show is back. It's viceral and amazing. The Dawn of Humanity is one of the greatest things I have ever seen along side Memories of the Future and From you, 2000 years ago.
Overall, can't wait for next season and this was just a great show. I do prefer Fullmetal Alchemist, Arcane, and Doctor Who over it.
From the future: WOW. Some of these takes I really disagree with now in hindsight. Attack on Titan gets worse the more I think about it, but it is still a great series. The recent episode was probably my favorite in the series. I'll leave my stupid review here... and oh god that ending was poorly written. - CreatorBruno HellerStarsSimon BakerRobin TunneyTim KangA famous "psychic" outs himself as a fake, and starts working as a consultant for the California Bureau of Investigation so he can find "Red John", the madman who killed his wife and daughter.8.4
I just started and it looks very fun. The lead Patrick Jane is seriously so charismatic and well-acted. It's like your average well-written procedural with an amazing lead, meh story, and great side plot.
It peaked on Season 3 finale and I don't feel like watching more... - CreatorHiromu ArakawaStarsKent WilliamsIemasa KayumiMatthew LeonhartTwo brothers search for a Philosopher's Stone after an attempt to revive their deceased mother goes awry and leaves them in damaged physical forms.10

Season 1: I really like test shows where people do tests and stuff. I'm pretty sure it has a name but idk. The lightning is kinda terrible IMO and the story is kinda bland but enjoyable. The characters are good albeit predictable. 7.9
Season 2: This was great mostly. I feel like Stain was wasted, but he was still really good. It had some great episodes and fights. Also some amazing characters and character dynamics. 8.6
Season 3: This season was a great, having some of the best episodes of the show so far. But I still didn't love this. 8.7
Season 4: Mixed bag of a season. The female characters are so underused and there is a huge amount of fan service. A long streak of bad episodes, but the action and some arcs are especially amazing. 8.2
Season 5: Even more mixed than the last, but it reaches a greater height than the whole series combined. (Big Spoilers)
East Blue Saga: Some arcs were a bore, some were entertaining, and others were emotional. Arlong Park really stood out to me as incredibly emotional and just a great arc. The world of this show is mysterious and approaching. The characters all have great, unique motivations apart from Usopp, who feels bland in comparison.
Alabasta: A definite improvement for me. Drum Island while emotional had serious pacing problems and bad villains. The other arcs here also suffered from pacing. The worldbuilding is amazing and the animation is only good when the animators feel like it. The Alabasta arc is amazing in comparison to everything before. Setup and payoff galore. There are some of the best emotional peaks so far. All characters were improved in this arc with maybe the exception of Nami. She feels too money-grubbing now, but she has a cool weapon ig. I think the best part of this arc was the old man and Luffy. It's the most emotional thing in this arc. TLDR: I love Alabasta.
Sky Island: The best comedy so far. Skypiea arc drags on too much but makes up for it with some stellar world-building. It's creative and that's the best thing I can say about it. The whole of Noland's story really added a lacking emotional depth to the arc. G-8 was somehow better than Skipiea. It was short and sweet and really funny. It showed interesting interactions and showed what they do best without developing them.
Water 7:This arc is basically peak. There was nothing bad about it apart from one complaint. Since this is based on a manga during fight scenes people just stand around and wait for some dialogue to finish and waste time. It might be on me for not reading the manga, but good animation makes up for it big time especially now. The beginning arc with Foxy was the worst so far, but the show now being in HD is refreshing. But as soon as Water 7 started I knew it was a different beast. It's a masterclass in subversion of expectations. One thing I've always liked in shows is when they acknowledge that which I thought was too uncomfortable to mention and Ussopp's storyline was all that. This arc had a spark from the dramatic which I loved. Great fights, Great character development, and PEAK TV.
Thriller Bark: Mediocre, maybe even good. It had some of the best concepts and some great ideas, but it ended up being underwhelming and overlong. The fights were mediocre apart from Ussopp versus Pelona. Moria was a meh villain and had no depth in the slightest. It went for too long with barely anything actually happening. It did get better with the whole Zoro moment, but still pretty eh.
Saboady Archipelago: Masterful in all regards wit the best character work and emotion in the show so far. The animation was a lot better this arc and it felt like the fun concepts of Skypiea mixed with the emotion of Water 7 giving us something I never knew I needed. Also some great reveals.
Amazon Lily: A mixed bag with some of the SH focused episodes kinda eh with their plot and on Luffy's side we also have a mixed bag of a generic female-only island. It did give good comedy and Boa's crush was cute. It also gave some fantastic characterization for Luffy.
Impel Down: Hands down the funniest arc. This arc is the preparation for an Endgame of sorts. Old villains joining together with Luffy was just genius. It made the whole world feel more connected. The highlight was 100% Bon Clay and Luffy's friendship. Not much substance in the arc and the episodes felt like the same quality throughout.
Marineford: This arc was hyped up a lot and I think it was pretty great. It suffered from bad pacing and reaction shots galore. And even though Ace died it still felt like he had insane plot armor through most of it. But this is the arc that gives the most wow moments out of all the arcs. But I believe Whitebeard's death was more emotional than Ace's death. Ace just made everyone's deaths for absolute shit and I really only care for him after this arc.
Post-war: I somehow feel the flashback parts of this arc should have come before Marineford. Sabo felt kinda retconned in, but overall it was a really fun arc that helped Marineford greatly.
Return to Sabaody: Short, sweet reintroduction. I personally don't like the new style and liked that smoother less detailed, but somehow more detailed animation of earlier.
Fishman Island: One of the worst arcs in the show. All the villains are mostly filler and it's terribly paced. It was enjoyable right at the very end, but incredibly mediocre overall. The scene were Jimbei gave Luffy his blood was chefs kiss
Punk Hazard: This arc is a big mixed bag of eh. The fight with Smoker and Law versus Vergo was a touch of fresh air and just beautiful. The animation feels like it's getting worse and watching scenes from Enies Lobby arc now just makes me feel that more. Also many of Luffy's fights are getting formulaic. He usually gets beat, then gets a powerup or just gets stuck somewhere for a while, then comes back (sometimes gets briefly beat again just to pad out stuff) then finally beats the villain. That applies perfectly to the next arc....
Dressrossa: This arc has one of my favorite moments in all of One Piece that being Law's flashback, but overall this arc is a drag. Way too many flashbacks and just way too much of nothing. If someone moves we get 10 reaction shots. It does have a lot of amazing moments sprinkled in between. Gear Fourth is underwhelming as a gear, but Ussopp's awakening was beautiful.Great arc that padded an already padded story with even more padding than paddingly possible to pad so that's a lot of padding.
Zoa: Great short and sweet arc with some great worldbuilding. The animation I feel was surprisingly good especially with one especially great scene where the Elephant got some action.
Whole Cake Island: A masterpiece that has several flaws. Sanji's character arc was beautiful. Last bit of the arc was really dragged on. A worthy succesor to Game of Thrones. The acting here is on par with the original and the cinematography is even better than in GOT. The lighting and atmosphere tops that in GOT. Some amazing episodes, but gets worse throughout. I really love the pacing of the episodes and some of emotional peaks throughout. Good show elevated highly be the last two episodes. The penultimate episode is an absolute masterpiece. I think the last episode sort of felt short of what I wanted. The opening scene was fantastic showing mental issues and such, but all the main character's mental issues just quickly went away in the span of a few minutes. There were no consequences for anything that happened in the penultimate which is really the only flaw I can say.
Second Season which I just recently watched was also amazing and better than the first. The episode "Forks" stood out to me. The celebrity castings didn't feel forced in the big family meetup. I just finished this and am reviewing it. Honestly, it is pretty decent. A lot of it is stretched out and it shows. I like most of the fights especially Rock Lee Vs Gaara and Sasuke vs Naruto. Horribly overrated, but it has a good mood to it all. It feels like you are in a constant hangover throughout all of it. It has some good action, but the animation is bad. I'm nearly 200 episodes in and almost done with Season 1. The action is incredibly well animated when it needs to be (and occasionally when it didn't need to be). I like the comedic/slice of life parts more than the dramatic arcs on occasion.
The serious arcs so far are very hit or miss. Arcs like Yoroshiwa in Flames (although I really enjoy parts of it) and Red Spider Arc are way too unsubtle. It has a tendency to make us forcefully sympathize with the antagonist. I'm sure the writer will improve in his writing of serious arcs.
I still really love the teasing of Gintoki's backstory and the emotional beats still do work. Currently comedy carries the series and I have no problem with that. - StarsMamoru MiyanoJ. I was forced to watch this with a friend and I sort of liked it? There were good elements such as world building and two really well written characters (Paul and Ruijerd), but damn this show can not write a protagonist. They are trying to do a slow redemption arc in a world that rewards him for him pedophilic mysogonystic behavior. It doesn't work and is just plain uncomfortable without much point. I could go on and on about that specific aspect. I quit the series in Season 2. The writing is just too godawful and rushed. Episode 3 (Technically 4) is just an abomination. It was a nice series. There were a lot of boring repetitive plot lines which brought it down. It started out really great, dwindled once season 3 came, and only reached its prime again at the end of the last season.
Some people say this series is "life," but it really feels unrealistic at many times. But I won't lie, I loved the characters. There are several characters the community hates, but they all feel real enough to the point I really can't hate them.
The finale of the series is often called the greatest ending to a TV series. It's really memorable and has stuck with me. I went through so many stages watching this show. I thought "This is cool" then "This is overrated" then "This is pretty mediocre and try-hard" and occasionally it had an episode I liked. I started to finally find what I liked about the series on episode 3 of season 2. And man it just got better from there.
So many episodes just had me thinking fiction peaked. Season 3 Episode 8 was one of the best episodes of television I had ever watched. And IT STILL GOT BETTER. Season 4 Episode 5, the iconic 9.9, and best of all the final episode of the series.
I can't see how the finale of this show compares to the "best ending of all time" being Six Feet Under. This blows it away by far. This is the best ending to a tv series I have ever seen.
