Aditya Pancholi first came into the limelight with the angry young man role of a Thakur in Maha-Sangram (1990). He was critically acclaimed and widely accepted.
Before acting in films, Aditya did approx. 10 video films produced by Hiba films. Hiba was owned by Nari Hira the owner of Stardust Magazine.
He initially gave critically acclaimed performances as a lead actor with films like Kab Tak Chup Rahungi (1988), Qatil (1988), Sailaab (1990), Laal Paree (1991), Naamcheen (1991), Yaad Rakhegi Duniya (1992), and Chor Aur Chand (1993) but failed to find commercial success.
His biggest commercial success as a lead actor and his most well-known performance was in Mahesh Bhatt's Saathi (1991).
In 1985, B.R. Chopra had decided to restart his film Chanakya Chandragupta with Dilip Kumar and Aditya Pancholi. Chopra was earlier making the film with Dilip Kumar , Dharmendra, Praveen Babi. The film was shelved for unknown reasons.
Aditya Pancholi was the first choice to play the lead in Tezaab(1988).N. Chandra had narrated the film to Aditya Pancholi. He loved the film and was ready to sign the film . A week later he learnt that Boney Kapoor played some dirty games and got Anil Kapoor in the film. Aditya never forgave Boney and finally bursted out during the Trimurti controvery.
Starred in the shelved film "Jadoo" (1992). Starring Aditya Pancholi,Pooja Bhatt, Anupam Kher, Directed by Mahesh Bhatt. The film was a remake of the Hollywood movie Cocktail.
In 1993 Aditya Pancholi turned Producer with romance action film Chor Aur Chand but despite getting Critical acclaim the film failed and it became his only film as Producer.
His Performances in Aatish: Feel the Fire (1994), Khilona (1996), Jung (1996),Hameshaa (1997) and Millitary Raaj (1998) were critically acclaimed.
He received a Filmfare nomination for the Best Performance in a Negative Role for Yes Boss (1997).
He won the GIF award for Best Performance in a Negative role for Striker (2010)
