- DirectorChristopher SmithStarsEddie RedmayneSean BeanCarice van HoutenSet during the time of the first outbreak of bubonic plague in England, a young monk is given the task of learning the truth about reports of people being brought back to life in a small village. While not the black death, I do think that a story of the Spanish Flu pandemic of the late nineteen tens would be a worthy idea for a film. I'd probably focus in on one family trying to survive, going place to place and witnessing the devastation while trying to find a safe place.
- DirectorMichael AptedStarsSissy SpacekTommy Lee JonesLevon HelmThe fictionalized life of singer Loretta Lynn, a girl who rose from humble beginnings to become a country music star in the 1960s/70s.The story of the Hoosac Tunnel is a highly doubtful one, where it was alleged that within the mine the ghosts of miners that died while in the mine due to collapses, accidents, and medical issues. (black lung, otherwise being suffocated) While this is all improbable at best, I do think that a horror/mystery/drama set almost entirely in a mine would be thoroughly entertaining.
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsLeonardo DiCaprioA biographical drama about President Theodore Roosevelt.I mean, really. Roosevelt was/is one of the best presidents the US has ever seen. And definitely the most badass.
- DirectorMassimilian BreederStarsTobias SegalMarc MenchacaKarl MillerTwo young American soldiers, Peter Dewey and Adam Pierce, are dispatched to a remote military post at the edge of an unforgiving desert. Their orders are to protect a pressure valve system and prevent possible incursions by enemies coming from behind a vast mountain range. In the stillness of this extreme landscape, the monotony of the task is only occasionally relieved by the vague hope that one day an enemy attack will offer the opportunity for meaning and honor. As days turn into months, loneliness to isolation, boredom to paranoia, Peter descends into a dark and delusional reality. His entire journey is an existential meditation on the meaningless cruelty of war, trapped in a large diorama of symbols that range from the role of religion in todays warfare to the western "fear propaganda" machine. The story of the body on the reservoir. Brazil, 1988, a body was found with holes drilled under the armpits, several organs removed, eyelids cut off, left ear sliced off, jaw missing, lips removed, and neck mutilated. All of these injuries were extremely precise, however there was no indication that the man was sedated. The fact that he would have been conscious during most of if not all of this is astounding. A film investigating the man's death in the vein of The Autopsy of Jane Doe would be a great story.
- DirectorTony MaylamStarsBrian MatthewsLeah AyresBrian BackerA former summer camp caretaker, horribly burned from a prank gone wrong, lurks around an upstate New York summer camp bent on killing the teenagers responsible for his disfigurement. The story of Lawrence. A black man (I couldn't find his full name despite looking for a while) who worked his way up from the ghettos of L.A. and built himself a business that became successful, only for him to lose it all during the 1992 California riots. Rioters looted and burned his store with reckless abandon. A tragic and cautionary tale could easily be made, warning of the ineptitude people show when trying to make a statement.
- DirectorRick AlversonStarsTye SheridanUdo KierLarry FessendenThe story of a young man who, after losing his mother, goes to work with a doctor specializing in lobotomies and therapies. The battle of Blair Mountain, West Virginia, 1921. ~10,000 coal miners and ~3,000 strikebreakers were protesting notoriously terrible working conditions when the National Guard and military were called in. this resulted in the first explosive attack on American soil. (no it wasn't Pearl Harbor) Between 60 and 100 miners/strikers were killed and 958 arrested, where between 20 and 30 army/national guard members were killed.
- DirectorKeith SchwebelStarsRebecca CardonMark IrvingsenAlexa HavinsA sexy hitchhiker accidentally finds herself entangled in a criminal plot involving two low life crooks.Chronicling the military career of Erwin Rommel, from the end of WWI to his death while plotting an insurrection on Adolf Hitler. The man is a bit of a bizarre case, fighting the allies for his entire time of service, but still not respecting the man who commanded his military. A film similar to Valkyrie with a much broader scope and a more nebulous main character would be intriguing. In a weird way Rommel was a hero and a villain.
- DirectorJoe CarnahanStarsLiam NeesonDermot MulroneyFrank GrilloAfter their plane crashes in Alaska, six oil workers are led by a skilled huntsman to survival, but a pack of merciless wolves haunts their every step.A story about the Wolves of Paris. A pack of wolves ran rampant in the Parisian winter sometime in the 1400's. Throughout the winter they devoured 35 to 40 people. A film similar to The Grey and Ghost and the Darkness would make sense here. A story focused on survival, and the carnage that was caused throughout the wolves' winter.
- StarsJared ZeusNell MooneyBrian ProtheroeSimon Jarrett finds himself in a mysterious, ravaged facility after seemingly losing consciousness during a new, experimental brain scan which was suggested to him for his brain damage after his car accident.Don't look up the story, just play it! The writing is on par with any major thriller/horror/mystery film that has ever been made.
- DirectorDave AnthonyStarsJames C. BurnsEmmanuelle ChriquiIce CubeFormer Marine Captain and CIA operative Alex Mason, upon interrogation by an unknown party, recounts his violent experiences with the Bay of Pigs, a radical Soviet conspiracy, and the Vietnam war.An adaptation of Black Ops would be fairly easy, since the characters are so strong, the setpieces are fantastic, and the story is amazing, with a twist that next to no one saw coming. Honestly I think that M. Night Shyamalan and Chad Stahelski should write, and Stahelski would direct.
- DirectorDavid CageStarsPascal LangdaleJacqui AinsleyJudi BeecherAs a child goes missing, his father tirelessly works to rescue him, while a journalist, an FBI agent, and a private detective try to identify his kidnapper known only as the "Origami Killer".A beautifully written and devastatingly powerful crime drama that contains some of the best written characters and arcs of any medium. The story of Ethan Mars is draped in suspense and full of emotion. I do think that this would be better to adapt with a mini series or a tv show that only has a season or two. There's a lot that of story packed into the game that couldn't fit in a movie shorter than ~3 hours.
- DirectorHaden BlackmanSteve StamatiadisMartin StoltzStarsSam WitwerNathalie CoxCully FredricksenDarth Vader's secret apprentice, codenamed Starkiller, is trained in the Dark Side to defeat the enemies of the Empire, but must find his own path when his master betrays him.Despite any flaws that exist with the story (there are a small handful that could be rectified relatively easily) there's no way it could be worse than the Last Jedi or Solo.
