Actresses Over 50 Who Still Rule Hollywood
I hate it when Hollywood is sexist and ageist as to not give primary roles in movies or TV to women over 50. Rita Wilson feels that women get the shaft all the time. Luckily, these women survive the sexist curse and still lead very successful careers two decades after their Logan's Run expiration date and avoid the shaft of which Rita spoke. Hopefully they have also been able to negotiate equal pay unless we didn't know they already had it. Despite no longer being the same adorable hearthrob they used to be, women like Jamie Lee Curtis and Kathy Bates still get plenty of good roles much later in life. They are still going strong in 2020. I got the first 50 women on my list from this article: https://www.thewrap.com/actresses-over-50-who-rule-hollywood/ but I have found more actresses like them since then to add to my own list here. Even common voice actors can be included if the current productions they are in are high-profile enough. For example, Debi Derryberry is a common voice actress who is in F is for Family with Laura Dern, a celebrity not known much for voice acting, and they are both primary characters in that series. To determine if a women actor is still getting good parts, or not allegedly too old to be in front of the camera, quality and quantity both matter.
Note: In another timeline where they survived into 2020 and were still around for the Will & Grace revival and the later half of the Star Wars sequel trilogy, I would make Debbie Reynolds #101 and Carrie Fisher #102 on this list, and Alexis Arquette after the other 2 Arquette sisters. She died the same year on 9/11. Rest In Piece, my friends. Do not rest in pieces, but rest with your body in one piece. I also give out my condolences to Kelly Preston, an actress over 50 who died in the middle of 2020. Alexis and Kelly both had breast cancer.
