- DirectorMorris BarryStarsPatrick TroughtonClive MerrisonGeorge PastellKlieg attempts to do a deal with the Cybercontroller while the Doctor tries to find a way to refreeze the Cybermen permanently.Whilst some of the characters resort to stereotyping, they are all well defined and their interactions make for good tension. The horror elements are excellent, mostly due to brilliant direction. The pacing and production design are great. A somewhat generic plot was very well handled and as a result, a high quality horror story was made.
- DirectorDouglas CamfieldStarsPatrick TroughtonDerek PollittJack WoolgarThe Doctor and his friends are held prisoner by the Intelligence and their only hope lies with Jamie, Arnold and a reprogrammed Yeti. The direction is phenominal. The pacing and tension is built up so well and each character is well defined, yet through great dialogue a sense of fear is always present. The Great Intelligence poses as a great villain and has some great moments. The cinematography, production design and music are also great.
- DirectorDouglas CamfieldStarsPatrick TroughtonKevin StoneySally FaulknerThe Cybermen are here to take over the world, and for the first time, UNIT are here to deal with the threats of a global invasion of a very alien and robotic kind. With locations shots of a nineteen sixties London to enhance realism and a new and fresh, contemporary look for the Cybermen, these episodes were considered a landmark and turning point in the Doctor Who franchise that has a sinister industrialist working in league with the dreaded Cybermen. It is now up to the Doctor and the United Nations Intelligence Taskforce to thwart their plans in eight new exciting and action filled chapters'.For an 8 parter, the pacing is brilliant and the characters are all really well used. The production design and direction are great and the whole story is tense and engaging. The additions to the universe are well thought out and character arcs work very well.
- DirectorDavid MaloneyStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesWendy PadburyWith Jamie and Zoe having been turned into fiction, the Doctor must find a way to save them without suffering the same fate or becoming part of the Master Brain. This story is really creative in terms of how it plays with fiction and the themes that surround it. The direction is really good and there's a lot of creativity. The way each plot line strings together is good and the pacing is excellent. All characters are given a lot to do and the themes and villain are well executed.
- DirectorsDerek MartinusTimothy CombeStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesMarius GoringThe Daleks are poised to spread the Dalek Factor throughout the history of Earth and begin by implanting the Doctor.(Telesnaps) This story isn't what I expected, but it's still really solid. The production design, direction and pacing are all great. There are too many characters, some of which are uninteresting, but there was always tension. The music is excellent and the effects are great. I love the story and how it wraps up the daleks.
- DirectorGerald BlakeStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesDavid BaronWith the Great Intelligence on the verge of becoming corporeal, the Doctor challenges Padmasambhva to a mental battle in order to defeat it.(Telesnaps) I love the plot of this story and I think all the characters are well defined. The dialogue is witty and engaging. The production design is excellent and there's some great directing. The Yeti and the great intelligence are great additions, although they are used in a formulaic way.
- DirectorDavid MaloneyStarsPatrick TroughtonWendy PadburyFrazer HinesThe TARDIS is drawn to the planet of the Time Lords where both the Doctor and the War Lord are placed on trial. The concept and effect of this story are very well done. The character acrs, acting, editing, directing and production design are all fantastic as well, however this story has some major pacing issues and is at least 2 episodes too long. Because of this some plot lines are excess and don't serve a purpose. Parts 9 and 10 are fantastic and the concept is overall amazing, but it should've been shortened.
- DirectorChristopher BarryStarsPatrick TroughtonAnneke WillsMichael CrazeWith Bragen having taken over, the Daleks trick the rebels into turning them loose and only the Doctor can stop them wiping out the entire colony.(Animated) This did a really solid job introducing the regeneration concept, whilst also telling it's own story. The Daleks, once again are a great villain, the acting is pretty good and the characterization of the Second Doctor is really good. The side characters are mixed and the pacing is slow at some points, but the way the story goes is really well handled.
- DirectorDerek MartinusStarsPatrick TroughtonPeter SallisPeter BarkworthThe Doctor and Victoria attempt to force the Ice Warriors to surrender control of the ioniser before the ice flow destroys them.(Animated) The plot is really interesting and the direction is great. The Ice Warriors make for a fun villain and this leads to some great character moments. Some of the characters are weak and the production design gets tired quickly, but the pacing is all good and most of the acting is solid.
- DirectorJohn DaviesStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesMichael CrazeThe Doctor and Polly manage to save Jamie from the Macra and then try to show the Pilot who is really in charge of the colony.(Animated) The concepts and themes about society are really well done here. All of the direction and animation are well done. Some of the side characters are wasted and uninteresting, but The Doctor, Jamie and The Macra are handled well. Overall, it's a fast paced story with a lot to offer.
- DirectorBarry LettsStarsPatrick TroughtonMary PeachChristopher BurgessThe Doctor discovers the true link between Salamander and Kent while Astrid tries to convince the shelter inhabitants they have been lied to.The acting and dialogue make this episode really fun. The plot is creative and has some good ideas, but the themes aren't too well explored. The pacing suffers at certain points as well, however I was still engaged. The side characters and companions are good, as is the direction. It's weird in retrospect, but it works.
- DirectorHugh DavidStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesDeborah WatlingThe Doctor and Jamie rescue Victoria from Robson and realise they can destroy the Weed Creature with sound waves.(Telesnaps) The plot is really unique and the themes and conflicts of the plot are great. The tension is well built and the music and acting elevate this. It does have pacing issues and the characters are rather thin. It's not particularly memorable, however it's still good.
- DirectorMorris BarryStarsPatrick TroughtonPatrick BarrFrazer HinesWith the Cybermen preparing to launch a full attack, the Doctor and his friends must keep the Moonbase and the Gravitron out of their hands until help arrives from Earth.(Animated) The acting is all good and the dialogue is great. The direction and especially the pacing is good. The story doesn't really provide that much to the Cybermen and they feel like an unnecessary addition. The characters are rather thin too and there aren't any defining moments.
- DirectorMichael FergusonStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesWendy PadburyThe Doctor manages to create a rain storm to destroy the Martian fungus before trying to find a way to stop the Ice Warriors' invasion fleet. This story is fine. I wasn't very invested in the story, however I did appreciate the writing and dialogue. The directing was fine, however some of the characters were lacking and the acting wasn't great. The editing and production design are good. It's enjoyable, but nothing special.
- DirectorGerry MillStarsPatrick TroughtonMadalena NicolDonald PickeringThe Doctor and Pinto are captured by the Chameleons but the Doctor manages to use their dependence on their human originals to create dissent in their ranks.(Telesnaps) It's fine. The acting is good and the direction is fun, but pacing really drags and the plot was rather generic. The story had it's moments and the first 2 parts are entertaining, but it lacked investment as it continued. Jamie is well used in this story, but Ben and Polly were sidelined and their exit felt unearned.
- DirectorDavid MaloneyStarsPatrick TroughtonWendy PadburyGilbert WynneSelris succeeds in drawing the Krotons out of the Dynatrope but Eelek agrees to hand the Doctor and Zoe over to them in return for their leaving the planet. This story is a bad idea done fine. The premise isn't good and the direction is bad, hwoever the script is rather good. The characters are fine and the concepts are interesting, however the pacing wasn't great and the story was unengaging.
- DirectorHugh DavidStarsPatrick TroughtonMichael CrazeFrazer HinesBen manages to join up with the Doctor, Polly and Kirsty and together they work to free the Highlanders from Trask's ship before Grey sells them into slavery.(Telesnaps) The acting is good and the production design is good. The plot is really forgettable though. None of the characters are well defined and the pacing is bad. It's story is okay and some of the dialogue is OK, but overall the episode is just forgettable.
- DirectorJulia SmithStarsPatrick TroughtonMichael CrazeFrazer HinesWith Zaroff's plan nearing completion, the Doctor and Ben realise the only way to save the world is to destroy Atlantis.(Telesnaps) This story is really dumb. The production design sucks and it definitely isn't complemented by it's poor dialogue. The acting is good, although over the top and the story was well paced, although a lot of that substance wasn't very good. The plot is rather stupid and forgettable and none of the characters do a lot.
- DirectorTristan de Vere ColeStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesWendy PadburyJamie and Zoe attempt to recover the time vector generator while the Cybermen realise the Doctor is on the Wheel and make him their prime target.(Telesnaps) The cybermen are really boring and The Doctor is sidelined. None of the characters are really that interesting and the plot flows rather slowly. None of the plot particularly interested me and it wasn't helped by the lack of urgency. There's some good dialogue and production design, but the story wasn't engaging enough for me.
- DirectorMorris BarryStarsPatrick TroughtonKenneth IvesGiles BlockJamie and Cully manage to rescue the Doctor's party and together they try to find a way to stop the Dominators before they destroy the entire planet. The plot is really generic and I couldn't take much of this one seriously. Some of the production design is good, but looks stupid at some points. The acting is fine, but the direction is rather weak. The story itself is just slow and uninvesting.
- DirectorMichael HartStarsPatrick TroughtonFrazer HinesWendy PadburyWith Clancey and Issigri trapped aboard the LIZ, the Doctor, Jamie and Zoe try to convince Madeleine to help them before Caven destroys Ta.(Telesnaps) This story is both hugely contrived and over written, but it's also got far too simplistic of a premise to sell the 6 parts. The acting sucks and the limited direction seen is poor. The characters are really weak and the pacing is bad. Cheap filler.
