I've never seen anything like it. If you want to shock someone with unexpected horror in the second half of a film, this is the film for them. I even consider it as a must-watch movie.

This is a brutal and intense revenge thriller. I'm not into Asian films, but this one is the best of the genre. serious and brutal and with a sick villain. great acting. a must-watch. 144 minutes running time seems like a lot, but the director keeps the viewer interested throughout the film with constant tension. and with empathy for the protagonist. SPOILER:

For revenge, the protagonist wants to inflict the most imaginable pain and suffering on the villain. therefore, he keeps him alive as long as possible with pain, before he kills him.

This is a scary one. Not a lot movie got me like this one with disturbing scenes. A little gem.

The King of terror horror. Be careful if you are a sensitive person. “Martyrs” is shocking and brutal. there is unimaginable physical torture, psychological terror and horror, and it is heartbreaking. No other movie has been able to shock me with its content like as “Martyrs”.

If you think Martyrs is unrealistic or crazy then you are wrong. The “monsters” in this movie are NOT unreal. Not for the victims. The victims are suffering from the deepest form of psychological trauma. They perceive these “monsters” in the form of hallucinations with all of their senses. They can't tell the difference between real and hallucination. This is exactly what happens to someone who has been tortured in this way. It is the deepest form of trauma.

In my book, Martyrs is top 3 of the most haunting horror movies ever. And to all the people who struggle with the ending, which is the majority of people: there is a waterproof explanation for the "unexplained" ending. One that makes perfect sense. If you want to know that explanation, you can find it on one of my lists named "The ending of Martyrs explained."

In terms of scare factor, I think this is the best sci-fi horror movie I've seen so far. I know "Alien" is spectacular, but when it comes to "scare the viewer", this movie blows most others out of the water. even "Event Horizon". There are a lot of scary scenes, surreal scenes. This is real science fiction horror. It starts off slow, but believe me, it gets more and more frightening the longer the movie goes on. It's one of those movies that you can watch multiple times without getting bored. This is due to the unique mood, the effects, the character development and the visual effects, the story, and the idea.

This is a gory terror movie. Serious warning: I don't know a movie that would be harder to watch, because of the gore scenes. I didn't make it through the movie without skipping some of the scenes. this was too much for me. Don't confuse it with the remake of "Inside". This original French version of "Inside" 2007 is known for being among the most horrific movies ever made. It's been said that it's quite possibly the most violent, realistic and bloodiest slasher film ever assembled.
What I want to do here is, warning people before they decide watching it.

If you sleep alone at night while you are the only person in the house, there is one movie you should never watch because you won't fall asleep anymore. the name of the movie is "The Strangers". An evil terror movie about a home-invasion. I consider the tension andatmosphere the most intense and fear inducing I have ever seen. Thus, the rating of the movie is way too low. The fact that this is based on a true event, makes it even more disturbing. By the way, the sequel is also extremely disturbing.

This is a fantastic movie. Absolutely recommended to watch. scary as hell. well done horror. but there are scenes, that make you laugh and there is nothing you can do about it. great story, great actors and plot twists. extremely entertaining. promised.

faces have a special memory connection in our brains. it is nearly impossible to get them out of our memories. sometimes we wish, we could delete these. because, from time to time, we suddenly see a disturbing or frightening face with our inner eye, that we have seen recently. whether we like it or not. that movie contains such a horror face. at least one.

One of the scariest real life situations that I can imagine happens in this film. Without showing a ton of blood, without monsters, without disturbing violence. Anyways more frightening than most such movies.

It was not hyped and therefore it is overlooked. It's a low-budget movie, but it is very effective. A horror movie should scare the viewer. This movie scares the crap out of the viewer, no matter how many effects and money has been spent. The situation itself is scary. I mean, really scary. SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT: Imagine being in a group of 6 persons plus a tour leader - on an illegal sightseeing tour in the abandoned city of Pripyat next to Chernobyl, without authorisation. There is nobody else in the city. Nobody even knows that you are there. It's afternoon and the
group visits the abandoned buildings by walking through Pripyat, where 50000 people used to live. Then, at dusk, the group returns to the van. The van that brought them here. It's getting dark and they want to leave before the night. But they can't ..... someone has sabotaged the car in the meantime when they were away. Destroyed cables at the engine. Now imagine the situation: There is no electricity in the entire city. No people. It's pitch dark. Only the starlight and the moon. And that group of 7 people sitting inside the van. They are the only people in the city. At least, that is what they thought. trust me when I tell you: this is a perfect horror situation. It's not a perfect 50 million dollar Hollywood movie, but scary as hell.

WAIT! Don't confuse this one with the Creep movies from
2014 and 2017 which have the same title. This movie is totally different and way better. It is SEAN HARRIS' first lead role as a villain! This movie went under the radar because it was almost simultaneously released with the original SAW movie (which is not on that list because Saw is not scary enough). This movie, CREEP 2004 with Franka Potente is perhaps the most underrated horror movie!! This one is a scary, disturbing, depressive, panic-inducing horror movie that haunted me for weeks. That atmosphere is also a result of the ingenious sound design created by "The Insects". It starts right in the opening credits sequence. give that one a chance by all means. Again: the great sound design adds a ton to the movie's atmosphere.

If you think, that a young woman in her 20ies who needs a bubble bath to become an attractive woman is not able to scare you, then you are wrong. she can and will scare you, trust me.

This movie is about a schizophrenic woman who murders without conscience and compassion when she switches to her 2nd personality:
A male serial killer. Yes that sounds disturbing. and it is indeed pretty disturbing. Some people have a hard time to understand the ending. But it absolutely makes sense. Schizophrenic means: split personalities. It is a disease that does exist in the real world more
than people might assume.

warning: I wouldn't recommend it for the faint-hearted. It's always important to consider your comfort level when choosing what movies to watch.
This is a story told in reverse. I do not like that reverse thing. But the happenings in that movie are extremely disturbing.

If you think, this is supernatural nonsense, therefore it won't shock and scare you. wait for the climax, you won't forget what you will see. you will find yourself in the scariest nightmare that you could imagine.

The 1st of 2 outstanding well-made horror thrillers about a real(!) serial killer who killed countless backpack tourists in Australia. a real-life monster. all movies and episodes are outstanding and shocking. all movies and episodes are on the same high outstanding level. absolut recommendation to watch. 08/10.

This one is the closest to not being on this list because it is too sick. And extremely frightening. So be warned. Even though the film is not overly gory, because many scenes are only playing in the viewer's imagination and not shown on screen which is a good thing. But that doesn't mean it is harmless. And,
there are no monsters or paranormal things. It's the serial killer himself who is scarier than most of that stuff because of his mentally ill behaviour. He's a mentally ill person and a sadist in the most horrible way you can imagine. He enjoys torturing women like I've never seen in any other film. not for the faint of heart.

There is a misunderstanding in many of the reviews I read here. Don't be fooled by negative reviews.

After 15 minutes you will be shocked and won't be able to stop watching. The movie will keep you spellbound for the rest of its running time. Unless these people who are desensitized when it comes to violence in movies because they have seen extreme violence and gore in movies s from the age of 7. But for normal people with empathy: be warned, this movie shows extreme situations. The victims are going through hell.

The story is about a psychopathic murderer, his aide, and his victims. The victims happen to be campers. It is a frightening atmosphere because it is so realistic. This psychopath does this to make a living. He needs money, food, a car and everything else. The movie feels like this could happen to anyone on any given day.

But some people here in the reviews think it was a planned act of revenge and NOT a coincidence that the victim was the bad guy's teacher from decades ago.

But it is absolutely clear that it was NOT planned. It was a coincidence. The bad guy didn't follow them to teach his former teacher "a lesson".

And I explain why that is.

The clearest hint of all is: After Mandrake murdererd the children, he is telling the Latin American guy: "I could drive for a little bit eh? I thought of a change of plans. A quick detour". So, they planned something else.

But there are more hints: These murderers were on the run. They were fleeing without having money and no car. How could they follow them and plan the thing?

And Mandrake even tells the victim, that they do that all the time, and that it was a bloody coincidence that he met him.

Why would Mandrake make that up? What would be the point of lying?

Plus: it wouldn't make a difference anyway. At the point in time when Mandrake REALIZED, that the father of the family was his former teacher, he already murdered the kids in front of the parent's eyes.

The entire thing from the past is just a side story, to add in more content.

The main storyline is about the coldblooded violence of a psychopath in the first place. He kills innocent people without a glimpse of compassion or conscience.

The actors are doing a phenomenal job. All of them. I like the role of the Latin American stooge of Mandrake the most. He didn't kill anyone, except one.

And there is good character development.

I think, this terror thriller is way better than the public rating implies.

The plot is similar to that of ‘The Strangers’. But ‘The Strangers’ is not a copy of ‘Them’. It's hard to decide which film is scarier and better. I can't decide in that respect. I think both films are scary and on the same high level.

There is no need to recommend The Silence of the Lambs. This is the sequel, and it's incredible. It's much better than the average public rating of 6.8 suggests. I actually prefer it to the movie The Silence of the Lambs. Incredible psychological, evil horror.
