This beautiful and promising actress was born in Miami, Florida. Her mother is from Hartford, Connecticut, and her father from Apia, Risaralda, Colombia, S. A. Anita, as she is called by her siblings and friends, has had the opportunity to live in different countries and, in the meantime, has been enriched by their cultures. As a small child, her mom took her to Colombia, a country where she grew up during the first 12 years of her life. Later on she lived in Spain, where she got great experiences and memories not only because of its people but also its culture. There she studied theater, an art that she is extremely passionate about. Anita has the artistic vein at her core, since she comes from a recognized family of writers, poets and music directors. Her interest in acting began at a young age. "I always used to dress up with whatever I found, I did fashion shows for my family. I remember many times when I imitated TV characters that I liked and always thought "I want to be there someday"," says the beautiful actress. She always was part of chorus, dance and theater groups in school. And she tried to enrich her artistic vein with the opportunities presented to her. It is at the age of thirteen that she began her professional training. Her first classes were taken with the teacher Hector Zabaleta at the Actors Workshop Academy (Miami, Florida), where she took classes for about 6 years in acting, diction, cold reading, teleprompter use, bio mechanics, and construction of characters. She had her first performance in front of the cameras in 2009, in "I Need a Friend", under the seal of Venevision International. In the summer of that year, she travels to Spain to visit her family and decides to attend an acting seminar with Ramon Quesada and Luis Gimeno (casting director of Telecinco). She made such an impact that when the course ended; Telecinco called her to participate in the movie "The Covenant", as one of the co-stars. Unfortunately she could not make it because she was a tourist in Spain. But the entertainment world called upon her door again at her return to Miami, this time through Telemundo for the soap opera "Aurora", playing the character of Charlotte. One of her dreams - being part of the wonderful Telemundo family - is fulfilled this way. She also took part in "RPM Miami" for Mun2. In pursue of her dream in the world of acting, once again she decides to travel to Spain, leaving behind scholarships at very prestigious universities in the U. S., in order to have a deeper training in acting. This time she decided to study theater at Corazza, from which great actors like Javier Bardem studied. There, she starts Body expression (Andrea Minez) and Technique (Manuel Morón) classes, and draws on the teachings of Jose Olmos. Simultaneously, she studies vocal technique with Patricia Kraus. In her spare time, she receives Ballet, Hip-Hop, Flamenco and takes singing lessons. Upon completion of her workshop in Spain, she decides to return back to Miami, not knowing the opportunities that awaited there. It is in 2011 when she does a casting for "Grachi 2" at the Nickelodeon chain. "I remember I was sitting in my room with my family, and my manager called me with the great news that I had been chosen to play the character of Valeria. I have no words to express the joy I felt that day," Anita says, while her big green eyes become lit, like stars. Valeria is the loyal assistant of Willy Martin's character, Leo. She also danced and sang in this series. The duo had the opportunity to put a voice to the song "Perfect Chemistry", which today is part of Grachi CD, Volume 2. In 2012, while she was still recording Grachi, she was part of the acting workshop "Physical or Chemical", to participate in the soap opera "Dangerous Liaisons", a remake of the Spanish hit "Physical or Chemical". After a long hard work, with the persistence that characterizes her, Anita got the role of Sofia Blanco, a strong-tempered girl who falls in love with the African-American schoolboy and decides to defend him from the bullies of Cervantes Academy. At the end of this soap opera, Anita is called by Nickelodeon to be a part of the third season of Grachi. She is delighted with news that she will portray Valeria but also Amaya the witch, a character who will undoubtedly leave many memories in viewers minds. The soap opera is currently airing in worldwide. "I think this has been one of the biggest challenges in my career. To perform a double character is the dream of any actor, or at least mine," says Anita. This versatile actress also loves dancing, currently practicing ballet and hip hop. She is also experienced in belly dancing as she practiced it for several years. Aside from acting she is also an entrepreneur and has an associate degree in Fashion Merchandising, she graduated from the Miami International University of art and design as a top student from her class. Mexican actress Kate del Castillo broke through in America as a result of her award-winning performance in the hit Fox Searchlight/Weinstein movie Under the Same Moon (2007), which is to date the highest-grossing Spanish-language theatrical release in U.S. history.
Kate starred as "Queen of the South" in La Reina del Sur (2011) a short form prime-time telenovela for Telemundo (NBC/Universal) and Antena 3 (Spain.) This adaptation of the bestseller by Spanish novelist Arturo Perez-Reverte drew more than 8.1 million viewers in its debut week, making it the most successful telenovela premiere week in the web's history. It continues to break records attracting male viewers and non-Spanish speaking viewers.
Del Castillo appeared as a guest star in six episodes of the fifth season of the Showtime hit comedy series _Weeds_. She starred as 'Pilar Zuazo,' a powerful Mexican crime boss who threatened Nancy (Mary-Louise Parker) and Esteban's romance and was then hit with a mallet by Nancy's son.
Del Castillo recently starred in Univision.com's first-ever webnovela (which she co-produced), "Vidas Cruzadas" (Crossed Lives). Venezuelan-born Daniela Di Giacomo is a model, TV host, journalist and former beauty queen who covers all things fashion on Univision's El Gordo y La Flaca. Charlie Yeung was first cast to star in a jewelry commercial with pop idol Aaron Kwok in 1993, and thus began her versatile career. Within a year, she appeared in various movies including acclaimed director Wong Kar-Wai's Ashes of Time, and released her first album which won her The Most Promising Newcomer award.
