Homeland - Season Four Review
Season rating - 8.5-great
Highlight episode - There's Something Else Going On
Wow, probably the show's best season, in my opinion (if you're forgetting the finale which I'll get to). The first 5 episodes where fine but nothing special, Aayan's storyline was kind of awkward for me. However, episode 6 payed that off brilliantly and from then on the show was on steroids with an amazing stretch of episodes. Episode 8 with Saul was heartbreaking and just super intense...and then episode 9 with the whole prisoner exchange set-piece was just...great. Oh, and then add in that last 5 minutes? Yeah, good stuff. The Embassy breach was cool as well, sad to see Fara go. Seeing Quinn go all badass made up for that and I'm glad Saul made it out. Now...that finale. Lackluster, yes. However, more than that it was as if the writer's were trying to be as unsatisying as possible, literally, Carrie's homelife is not interesting. I get what they were going for with her dealing with the season's events and there's some interesting set-up for next season...but that aside, it was just a filler episode...for a finale. Ridiculous. Dragged down what would have been Homeland's best season by a large degree. Anyway, aside from that, it's good to see Homeland back on form and I hope season 5 replicates this.
