Casting Ideas for Mistborn Movie

Character: Vin

While this list has included a few notable names such as Willa Holland or Hailee Steinfeld to play, Vin, after her spectacular performance in Stranger Things, I can't think of anyone (short of a breakout unknown) who could do better justice to Vin's complexity, particularly her journey from frailty to strength better than Millie Bobbie Brown. She even looks like Vin on the cover illustrations of the books (minus a little hair dye). This one is a no brainier lol.

Character: Vin

Another strong contender for Vin, also around the right age. Her appearance is also a close match for Vin.

Character: Kelsier

I've enjoyed watching Bradley Cooper act ever since he was on Alias. I'm delighted to see the success he's bloomed into in his career. I saw this suggestion on another list and agree, it's a good one. He's got the smiley thing down great and is versatile enough to play both Kelsier's charisma as well as his ruthlessness.

Character: Kelsier or Marsh

I've noticed a lot of people have pictured him as Marsh. I could go either way. After his performance as Harvey Dent (pre Two Face transformation), I'll admit I pictured Mr. Eckhart in the role of the Kelsier almost the whole time I read the book. He's an excellent actor who could go either way!

Character: Sazed

Most Americans are, unfortunately, not aware of this outstanding Indian actor. He has an astonishingly wide range. If he lost enough weight and had some special effects makeup, I could see him doing some very interesting things with the character of Sazed.

Character: The Lord Ruler

This may be too close to Loki territory, but he is the first person who came to mind when I heard the description of the Lord Ruler. There's no doubt that he has this character type down to a T.

Character: Ham

Would make an excellent "Warrior-Philosopher". Statham just has a presence in dialogue that would make his arguments with Breeze absolutely hysterical.

Character: Breeze

While he doesn't exactly match Breeze's description, he matches Breeze's demeanor perfectly. I can't think of anyone I would love to see play Breeze more!

Character: Dockson or Quellion (The Citizen)

He has the no nonsense demeanor for both. I think he would be particularly engaging for Quellion. Remarkable actor.

Character: Vin

She might be too old, but she would be an outstanding pick for Vin!

Character: Marsh

He is definitely my top pick for this role. He has the "Ironeyes" presence necessary for Marsh, as well as the necessary depth to show the character's struggle throughout the story.

Character: Straff

He'd truly be a dream cast for Straff!

Character: Yeden

This one is a little bit out in left field, but I kept recalling his performance from the movie Tombstone when I pictured Yeden's unhappy demeanor. So long as he looks skinny enough to be a skaa, he's very good at playing characters that haven't had much reason to smile.

Character: Shan Elariel

She may be too obvious a pick for a dangerous lady, but I think she could be very interesting as Shan.

Character: Sazed

Naveen has an incredibly gentle voice that would fit Sazed well, and it wouldn't take too much special effects make-up to take care of the rest. He's an excellent actor.

Character: Zane

I saw this suggestion on multiple sites, and I fully agree with it. There are also many unknown actors who could do great with Zane.

Character: Tensoon

I'd never thought of Idris Elba for Tensoon until my most recent reading of Hero of Ages where it mentions that Tensoon made a tanned body for himself. The more I thought about it, I realized that Idris Elba's voice and demeanor could be perfect for the kandra.

Character: Tindwyl

After having recently discovered Veronica Falcon on USA's "Queen of the South", she's quickly filled the space in my imagination for Tindwyl. She has the necessary commanding presence, age, and exotic features.

Character: Clubs

I couldn't believe that someone else thought of this! Put some silver streaks in his hair, and Mr. Trejo could be a very interesting take on everyone's favorite Smoker.

Character: The Chief Obligator

He has the proper air of authority for an obligator, without a doubt.

Character: Ham

Another left-field casting idea. I think it was the description that Ham isn't a huge guy, as well as his ability to talk without ceasing that made me think of Kevin Durand and his performance in Lost.

Character: Cett

I've been sold on Stellan Skarsgard playing warlords since his role in King Arthur. Cett is one of the most brash characters in the series, and Stellan could certainly do him justice.

Character: Yeden

I've seen many suggestions for him to play Ham, but personally, he just has the right face I picture for Yeden.

Character: Shan Elariel or Tindawyl

If the movie decides to have a diverse range of skin colors in Luthadel, Gina Torres would be excellent for either Shan or Tindawyl. The "auburn hair" doesn't match up for the latter, but she has a powerful presence that I could easily see intimidating most men around her.

Character: Ham

Someone threw this idea out on another list and I thought it was an outstanding one. Long live Jaynestown.
