T.I.P's Movie Review
Trying to write a movie review for ALL of the movies I've watched. Going to take years to complete it but I'll try!!
Woo hoo~! :D
Most of the movies, I listed the good elements of the movie and even though the movie might've been good, I would like to point out that not every movie that entertains me, is what I would call "a good movie." I look at the storyline (plot), visuals, acting, and audio (sound & music).

- DirectorBen StillerStarsBen StillerKristen WiigJon DalyWhen both he and a colleague are about to lose their job, Walter takes action by embarking on an adventure more extraordinary than anything he ever imagined."The Secret Life of Walter Mitty Movie Review"
"To see the world, things dangerous to come to, to see behind walls, draw closer, to find each other and to feel. That is the purpose of life." - © 2013 Secret Life of Walter Mitty Movie
The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is a movie that gets you moving on your feet. The movie teaches us an essential lesson that just dreaming won't allow your life to succeed. But one should always try to start living rather than just dreaming, and that experiences are essential to achieving one's goal.
Furthermore, it grabs the audience's attention with rich imaginations. During the movie, Walter starts zoning out and falling into bright daydreams multiple times. One time, he becomes a hero by saving residents from a burning building; in another, he fights with his boss in a very dramatic action movie-like way.
I liked how Ben Stiller portrayed Walter Mitty. It was definitely different with Stiller's usual acting style, but I enjoyed watching the new Ben Stiller. The cinematography was great because, in scenes where Walter feels clueless, or when he zone out, the camera always zooms out and display the surroundings. However as Walter goes through his adventures, the camera zooms in, and the audience can clearly experience the change that he is going through. The overall ambiance of the film was peculiar, yet special. Inspirational quotes popped up and kept you thinking deeply throughout the movie.
From the beginning of the film to the end, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is full of life. The melody repeats several times, but each time the music plays you experience different emotions. At times it is filled with lively trumpet and bass sounds while touching moments or inspiring moments have a more optimistic vibe.
Personally, I liked the movie because it seemed very sincere. Nowadays, it's hard to find a film that is sincere. But it wasn't boring. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is funny, but it also isn't a comedy either. It's complicated to put this movie into a particular genre. In a way, it's vague but exclusive.
Therefore, I would say that The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is my all-time favorite movie! :D

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD (a little bit)
I remember when I first watched this movie in the theaters, and I was just really confused. Some people even left the cinema because they were confused! All I knew was that a bunch of characters goes into a dream into another dream into another dream to accomplish their mission. So I had to watch this movie multiple times to understand the ending.
As usual, Christopher Nolan can sometimes mesmerize the audience with mind-blowing, extravagant ideas such as The Prestige and The Dark Knight series. Likewise, Inception has done the same thing once again! Nolan's exciting sci-fi movie starring Leonardo Dicaprio combines the best of modern filmmaking.
Just the thought that other people can "invade" your dreams is actually pretty terrifying and disturbing. The deeper you go into another dream, the harder it is to wake up into the real world. Christopher Nolan came out with this idea when he was 16 years old! Maybe that is why the film is so detail-oriented and mind-boggling! Inception was incredibly exhilarating.
( SPOILER DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW)
One thing that made me and probably many other people confused was its mysterious ending. Will the spinning top keep spinning or was it about to fall over just before the end of the movie? It is up for the audience to determine, but I believe that the spinning top was about to fall. This is because I have watched the movie multiple times and when Leonardo Dicaprio was with his ex-wife, he had a ring on, but when he actually saw his kids, there was no ring on his finger. It's just a guess, but I think that is the reason why I believe that Leonardo Dicaprio came back to the real world. What do you think?

Overall: 9.4/10 - DirectorTom McCarthyStarsMark RuffaloMichael KeatonRachel McAdamsThe true story of how the Boston Globe uncovered the massive scandal of child molestation and cover-up within the local Catholic Archdiocese, shaking the entire Catholic Church to its core.Spotlight: The Power and Justice of Journalism
The movie Spotlight won many other awards but most notably the Oscars for the Best Picture Award in 2016! Visually, the film was compelling and almost perfect! This movie was definitely controversial as it descriptively views the Catholic Church in a contradictory way. But that does not mean that the movie was BAD at all!
Spotlight is a true story about a group of five investigative journalists who work for the Boston Globe's "Spotlight" team, that tries to uncover the Catholic church by investigating a massive scandal of child molestation by numerous Roman Catholic priests.
The director did exceptionally well as this movie built it's momentum throughout the film and had a huge impact at the end. As the story progresses, you can see it's methodical process of reporting. For some people, they might get a little bit frustrated, but if they are patient, they'll realize it was worth watching this movie for 126 minutes.
I really liked it because as I am majoring in Media and Communication studies, I was able to be acquainted with a journalist's daily life. It vividly captured the finger grain of newsroom life in the early years of the century almost perfectly. To illustrate, frantic phone callings and to write down notes, people gathering under fluorescent lights during meetings and staying up all night to get more data/information from other people, etc.
One unique element about this movie was that when the reporters first-handed reported the victims, it did not show exploitative flashbacks, and it also avoided euphemism. Furthermore, the actor's acting was disciplined. They weren't dramatic, which suited the movie.
I was surprised that Spotlight was R-rated. But even though it was R-rated, there were no graphic scenes, and the language wasn't too offensive. However, as I have mentioned before, the movie avoided euphemism and was extremely straight-forward with the sexual terms, which may have caused this film to be R-rated. So I think that it's alright for a 15-16-year-old to watch this movie.
An important lesson I learned was that teamwork is essential. It was through each member of the Spotlight team that made them able to publish this headline to the entire world!
Finally, I would like to say that the movie celebrates a particular professional accomplishment and beautifully captures the vocational field of journalism.

Overall: 9.3/10 - DirectorsTomm MooreNora TwomeyStarsEvan McGuireBrendan GleesonMick LallyA young boy in a remote medieval outpost under siege from barbarian raids is beckoned to adventure when a celebrated master illuminator arrives with an ancient book, brimming with secret wisdom and powers.Take a marvelous ride and experience some cinematic magic this summer as director Tomm Moore applies his dazzling hand-drawn animation style to an Irish inspired tale based on a piece of Celtic folklore. The Secret of Kells (2009) is about a young boy in a remote village under siege from Viking raids who goes on an adventure when an illuminator arrives with an ancient tome filled with secret wisdom and insights. The audience not only becomes mesmerized with its enthralling visuals, but also encounters mystical Irish traditional music.
There is a lot to take in when watching this film. Nearly every frame of its 75 minutes contains decorative curls and twisted patterns and figures, distinguishing it clearly from other animated films. The landscapes, fortified walls, human characters, and strange creatures all come in different shapes and sizes, revealing different hues and contrasts as scenes alternate between cute, sinister, roly-poly, and sharp. The decorative borders on the edge of the film complement the dramatic impact from the beginning to the final scene, illuminating the dark ages with a grain of hope.
Not surprisingly, this film was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the Academy Awards in 2010 due to its fascinating visuals. One vital element is that this film is based on the Book of Kells, a medieval manuscript about the four gospels of the Bible that is still considered an Irish national treasure. Just like the book itself, the film uses early Christian theology to gain access to a wider audience as it illuminates the text with its incredible and optimistic sentiment. It also fills the book with sacred magic and allows the audience to experience a whole new world.
The storyline is about an idealistic young boy named Brendan who lives in the Abbey of Kells, an outpost surrounded by heavily fortified walls. Due to the threat of Viking raids, his uncle and the monks are sequestered in the abbey and Brendan has never stepped outside its walls. One day, Brother Aidan comes to Kells with an unfinished sacred book of knowledge, which he refers to as "a beacon in these dark days.” Brendan is fascinated with the book and tries to help Brother Aidan complete it, as his hands are too old and unsteady. However, to create the book, Brendan needs to face his fears and undertake a dangerous quest to obtain both inkberries in the forest and the “Eye of Crom,” which is a crystal lens that magnifies images.
Typically, in animated films, the imagery and direction can be overshadowed by the characters or the plot. However, there are various scenes where the directors (Nora Twomey co-directed with Moore) captivates the viewers. To illustrate, Moore and Twomey mainly use extreme long shots to portray the vast landscape of the forest and express a variety of emotions by closely zooming in on a character’s face, sometimes even taking at a subjective view from the character’s perspective.
The film divides the world into four distinct settings, each with its own intricate details: the village, the Vikings, the forest, and the tomb of Crom Cruach, a pagan deity that resides in a mystical cave within the forest. The different settings all generate different emotions and sit in contrast with each other depending on what is shown on the screen. For instance, the scenes in the forest and within the walls evoke tranquility, while there is a feeling of suspense and nervousness in front of the cave, and the menacing Vikings bring out fear, terror, and dread.
Besides the enchanting illustrations, the musical score blends well with the film, reflecting traditional Irish folk music. For instance, when Brendan goes to the forest and sees Aisling, a fairy that possesses magical powers, the melody is filled with flutes, bagpipes, and other percussion instruments that resonate a peaceful ambiance. Furthermore, because the music is in accord with the film, not only does the symphony have a smooth, and airy tone but it also manages to deliver a delicately crafted tune encompassing echoes of dark, grim music.
However, despite its mesmerizing animation, the movie does not go into great detail about the book, despite highlighting its significance. Viewers are provided with little information about the book itself; we are merely told that it gives hope, but it is never fully described why or how this happens. Because of this, it may be hard for children to fully understand the worth of the book, which will probably appeal to older fans who are into fantasy and animation. In addition, Brendan’s jam-packed adventures are crowded with too much narrative for its short running time. Nevertheless, it may have been the directors’ intent to make it vague, as they manage to connect the animated narrative to a fascinating piece of history.
Although stylistically very different from many other animated movies, The Secret of Kells (2009) is unlike anything viewers have seen. It uses vivid colors and sophisticated 2D sketches of the Book of Kells by connecting it with ancient history combined with modern animation techniques. Even though there are ambiguous scenes that may confuse members of the audience, the story itself is very interesting and just like the Eye of Crom, it illuminates viewers with shimmering phantasmagoria.

If you want to experience some cinematic magic this holiday, you guys should check out Song of the Sea, an enchanted Irish film about a pair of siblings and a piece of Celtic folklore. The director Tom Moore applies his dazzling hand-drawn style to another Irish inspired tale. Moore previously co-directed the Oscar-nominated film "The Secret of Kells" back in 2009. (I haven't watched it, but I definitely should watch this movie after watching Song of the Sea)
What I am impressed with this film is that this movie was hand-drawn in a traditional animation style. It feels like you're in a whole new world of animation instead of the usual 3D and CGI feels movies. Also, while typical American cartoons focus on the plot and character, Moore displays the visuals on another level, making the audience experience a poetic sensation!
The story is centered on a "Selkie." A half-human, half-seal creature mother who disappears into the waves one night, leaving her husband and two children Ben and Saoirse with many unknown questions. After Ben and Saoirse is forced to move away from their home and move into the city with their grandmother, Ben and Saoirse goes through an epic quest as they encounter mythical creatures such as fairies, ancient sea gods, and the owl witch to free the fairies and save the spirit world!
Ben and Saoirse goes through the adventure with their massive sheepdog named Cu. Cu was very likable as it grabs the young audience's attention with it's cute and simplistic looks. As I was watching this film, Cu kind of reminded me of Olaf because no one cannot like Olaf right? Furthermore, the seals in the movie played a critical role, and they also looked adorable too. :D
Overall, the movie felt ethereal, celestial and aesthetic. As I watched this film, I was blown away with the animation and the background drawings and wondered if people would make movies like this anymore!

The movie The Shining is a psychological horror film directed by Stanley Kubrick. This film is definitely one of the scariest horror movies of all times! The eerie music always made me tense during the film. Nowadays, there are some good horror movies, but most of them are jump scares and the chills don't last that long. However, this film gave me so many chills and freaked me out throughout the movie and even after it was over!
Jack Nicholson did a great job acting as Jack Torrance, and I was particularly impressed with Kubrick's determination. Apparently, he made Jack Nicholson do method acting which was why his acting was outstanding! Another interesting fact was that the kid didn't know that this was a horror movie until he was 17! Finally, there was this one scene where an elevator door opened, and blood flooded the entire set. And according to an article from MoviePilot, that blood was actually real blood, and it took 6 months to clean completely up the set!
Overall, this movie was eerie, and I recommend this movie for people who are obsessed with horror.

Gone Girl was definitely an A+ rated movie, and it was my TOP3 favorite movie from 2014! Rosamund Pike's acting was phenomenal, which was why she was nominated for the golden globe award. Also, to be honest, I didn't really like her before but after watching this movie, I think she deserved to win the golden globe award instead of Julianne Moore.
Anyways, this movie was based on the novel Gone Girl, and nowadays we see a lot of movies based on a novel, and usually it's not as good as the book. However, David Fincher did an intricate and richly satisfying adaptation of the book. I've never read the book, but still the movie gave me chills! Gone Girl is a psychological thriller movie, and my favorite genre is thriller movies which is why I absolutely loved it. I know I keep on reiterating things, but you guys should watch it!
What I am impressed about this movie was that everyone's acting was really smooth and absolutely flawless. Ben Affleck's acting is usually composed, calm, and in a way a bit dull. But I think his acting suited the character, especially in this movie. Neil Patrick Harris and Tyler Perry also did an excellent job as well. But I was most impressed with Rosamund Pike. In the film, she was kind of the smart, self-centered bitch who is actually a freaky sociopath! Two words to describe her acting would probably be "DAMN Girl!"
Finally, before I say that this movie is good and all, the movie may be dull at the beginning, but throughout the film, you will be absorbed into the plot, so don't give up while watching this movie!!

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD (a little bit)
Quentin Tarantino sure knows how to make violence into a comedy! Django Unchained is brutal and funny at the same time. The plot is really simple. Django (Jamie Foxx), the protagonist of the story, gets freed by a German bounty hunter Dr. King Schultz (Christoph Waltz) and tries to rescue his wife (Kerry Washington) from Candyland, owned by Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). The movie was 165 minutes which were a really long movie, but it didn't seem that long.
They cuss a lot and say the word n**ger a lot! I heard it so many times that it made me feel a bit uncomfortable, and kind of got tired of hearing the N-word. And this movie says the N-word the most out of all the movies; they say it 113 times!
I still can't believe that Leonardo DiCaprio's hand was actually bleeding in that one scene, and he kept on going! Man, he seems really desperate to get an Oscar! There were some really disturbing scenes in this movie. (SPOILER SPOILER DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW) One of the scenes were when the two Mandingos wrestle each other until they die and that was really gruesome and when an African slave gets ripped and torn by the dogs.

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD (a little bit)
Just by looking at the trailer, the movie seemed a little too risky; an adventure that takes place within the mind of an 11-year-old girl featuring her Emotion characters. However, I realized that this movie was absolutely exceptional. The idea was super original, and it was definitely a blast!
( SPOILER DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW)
Riley is an 11-year-old girl who used to have a fun life in bright snowy Minnesota, where she loved playing hockey with her friends. However, she becomes upset when her dad (Kyle MacLachlan) and mom (Diane Lane) decides to move her to San Francisco. It's a new school, and she has no friends, except for her emotions: Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. Joy used to be in charge of Riley's emotions but goes on a trip with Sadness to bring back Riley's best memories. This gives Anger, Fear, and Disgust in charge of Riley's emotions while Joy and Sadness are gone.

The Director, Pete Docter and Ronnie Del Carmen have already made blockbuster movies such as Up, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, and more! (Go check it out yourself on Google) And I am still astonished that they continue to make more spectacular movies!
Regarding its ambitious concept, Inside Out definitely blows the audience's mind away and would make people ponder around for the rest of their day. The movie was elegant and had a symbolic visual metaphor for understanding one's own emotions.
I also think that the voice casting was excellent. Smith's Eeyore-like sadness contrasts perfectly with Poehler's high-spirited Joy while Anger's surprisingly cute appearance and midget size stature make the show much more entertaining. Hader plays Fear as a nervous "thing" (I don't know what to call it) and Kaling's valley-girl styled voice keeps Disgust feeling like an essential part of the team.
Even though Inside Out wasn't the first movie to come up with this idea, you have to admit that Pixar did a fantastic job with all the risk they needed to take. The movie was definitely an emotional roller coaster ride. I mean it's really hard to find a movie where you laugh and cry! It's heartwarming, and I would DEFINITELY suggest this film to everyone!

WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD
***THIS WHOLE MOVIE REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS SO IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED IT, I SUGGEST WATCHING THE MOVIE FIRST
This ballet movie directed by Darren Aronofsky is a psychological horror story and a scary reverie about obsession and paranoia. Perhaps this film is Natalie Portman's best-performed movie until now! She won an Oscar for this movie because her dedication to this role was absolutely shocking! Natalie Portman had to drop 20 pounds and practiced for nearly 16 hours every day! She even did most of the ballet dances herself, which I think is incredible!
A ballet dancer, Nina Sayers, gets the lead role in "Swan Lake" and does a splendid job portraying the White Swan; a delicate, graceful and elegant role. However, she struggles to embrace the Black Swan, a playful, fierce, and dominant side. But she needs to be able to master both the White and the Black Swan to make the perfect performance.
Personally, this movie was kind of creepy because as Nina slowly starts to unleash her Black Swan, we see a disturbing portrait of her. She starts to have blood-red eys and black feathered wings!! Ewww! Also, Nina thinks about weird things inside her head. Even though it's all imagination, having lesbian sex is pretty dark and disturbing.
Throughout the movie, you get really tense from the beginning to the end. At first, there is this sort of girl's ballet rivalry battle going on between each of the cast members. For example, There was this scene when one of the ballet member writes WHORE with a red lipstick on the toilet when Nina gets the lead role. And as the movie progresses, you can see Nina's dark side becoming unleashed, which is extremely CREEPY!
The ending was rather confusing and caused a lot of debate among the audience. The audience will be left to wonder what was real and what was Nina's imagination. It's up for the audience to decide but I think that the ending was more metaphorical than physical. Some people claim that she literally stabbed herself and actually died before saying "It was Perfect." While others say that Nina has finally let go of her White Swan side and became the black swan. But if we get technical here, it's nearly impossible for her to dance that swiftly, if there was a sharp glass on her stomach. So I'm sure the director intended to make the ending scene like that.
In the end, this movie was very surprising in a genuine way, and I'll probably never see a film like this again! Aronofsky also ensures no one will regard Swan Lake the same way again!

Avengers has it all. You've got Ironman, who is everyone's favorite. Hulk, Captain America, and Thor. Black Widow is there just because there is no girl cast and you obviously need a super hot actress or else it gets less successful. And Hawkeye on the other hand, which is kind of useless compared to the other Avengers.
When I thought that all these heroes come together, it would be VERY EPIC, and I was right! I knew that this movie was going to be a blockbuster film! When Loki decides to rule over the world, earth's mightiest heroes must come together under the leadership of Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D and stop Loki from conquering Earth with his alien army.
The plot is easy to understand, and you've got great action scenes, and the acting was good! Also, a reminder that superhero movies are good when the villain is good also. I would like to applaud Tom Hiddleston because he did an outstanding job portraying Loki! BTW, the rest of the cast were all good actors too.
P.S: I think the most memorable scene would be when Hulk smashes Loki to the ground and calls him a "Puny God." I remember everyone in the theater laughing and cracking up in that scene.

The Forrest Gump and Back to the Future series director Robert Zemeckis once again did an excellent job with the movie. I watched this movie without knowing anything literally. I didn't even know that this film was about the actual story of Philippe Petit.
But when I watched The Walk, I was genuinely impressed with the cinematography! I remember my friend (Daniel) and I looked at this movie, and it was incredibly breathtaking when Petit goes on the wire and starts walking between the twin towers. It was also interesting because the story was told in a narrative and told the dramatic life story beautifully!
Also, I watched this movie in IMAX 3D, and the 3D effects were really great in The Walk. For some movies, the 3D effects are horrible, like Jack Black's Gulliver's travels, but you should definitely watch the film in IMAX 3D. One thing for sure is that it keeps the audience focused and thrilled. Another thing I would like to acknowledge is that Joseph Gordon-Levitt's French accent was impressive!

Perhaps the Harry Potter movie series is my all-time favorite movie series! When I was in elementary school, I didn't want to watch Harry Potter because I thought it would be boring and probably I didn't want to look at it because I couldn't understand the British Accent.
Anyways I started to watch Harry Potter when I was in 6th grade, and I was actually really happy that I got to watch Harry Potter. Then I found out that there was a book, and the book was even more amazing! I liked how Hogwarts, the witchcraft of Wizard school was portrayed and I've watched the Harry Potter series more than 4 times, and I think that the first one is always fun to watch because Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint was just so adorable back then! We know that even in Sorcerer's Stone, the three of these characters and actors were the reason why the Harry Potter series was popular.
Besides, I just found the wizard world so fascinating! J.K Rowling is a genius, and it made me want to live in a Wizard World, especially the four dorms Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, and Slytherin was especially memorable. Hogwarts seems to be such an awesome school and made me want to be a wizard. There are so many characters, and I don't know what to say. This movie and the rest of the film are all pretty consistent.
One thing that kind of bothered me was that there were too many introductions in this film. Since the film had to introduce the future Harry Potter series, there were a lot of explaining throughout the movie. But other than that the movie was great and to be honest, I don't want to rate or give a score to this film. But if I have to give a rating it would be...

After watching the trailer, finally the long-awaited Captain America: Civil War has been released on April 27, 2016! I've always been a HUGE fan of MCU movies, and I knew that it was going to be awesome because it's an epic battle between Team Captain America and Team Ironman!
For those of you who don't know the plot of the story, the Avengers team divide when political affiliations start to oppose between Captain America and Iron Man. Iron Man believes that the Avengers should be under the supervision of the government while Captain America wants to be freely operating without any government interference.
The most noticeable difference between "Captain America Civil War" and "Batman v Superman" was that in Captain America, the movie was able to introduce both Black Panther and Spiderman without overstuffing the plot. The core purpose was still there, and the film maintained a consistent focus on the audiences.
Also, it is usually hard to find a movie where a sequel keeps on getting better and better by each film. Of all the MCU films, Captain America's movies seem to get bigger and better by each movie. The action scenes were great, the acting was poised, the characters had depth, and even though the overall mood was serious, it had various comedic scenes to keep the viewers focused.
Everyone was very pleased with the new Spiderman, played by Tom Holland because this is the youngest Spiderman, and we could see that he is not in full control of his powers; thus Holland's Spiderman was the closest to the classic version of Spiderman.
Overall, Captain America: Civil War is a blockbuster movie that deals with both long actioned sequences and human-scaled emotions that were striking and consistently engaging.

Amélie is a romantic comedy film directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet. It is about a young woman named Amélie who tries to live a fulfilling life secretly for the people around her in Paris. The introduction of the movie was already very different to other films. The narrator nonchalantly speaks in French and talks about what happened when Amélie was born. The intro was able to capture the audience's mind, which I thought was engaging!
Amélie was raised in a very eccentric way because her parents mistakenly thought that she had a heart defect- which led her to be home schooled. To bear with her loneliness, Amélie developed an active imagination and a mischievous personality. After her mother passes away when a suicidal tourist jumps and falls on her, her father withdraws from society and becomes more secluded. That's when Amélie decides to live by herself and work as a waitress. With her own sense of principle, she decides to help those around her and, along the way, discovers love.
At first, I didn't get Amélie and felt frustrated at times. But as the movie progresses, I realized what a charming and quirky character/person she was! Nowadays, it's hard to find somebody who wants to live a life for others, but Amélie always sought others first, even though she was struggling with isolation.
I would recommend you guys to download this movie with English subtitles if you don't speak French, or else you can't understand what they are saying!

Christopher Nolan's epic, blockbuster movie, Interstellar, deserves to be seen on the biggest screen with the best sound system. Nolan's ambitious desire to portray the mind-blowing concept of time and space in his movie is praiseworthy. The story line is spectacular, the embodiment of the universe is surreal, and the acting of the cast is stirring.
The staggering visual effects which range from the ocean rising up to form the largest wave imaginable to a spaceship traveling past the rings of Saturn fascinate the audience. If Interstellar is not worth watching in the theaters, I daresay that nothing else is.

OMG! YES! Finally, Leonardo Dicaprio wins an award for The Golden Globe Award for best actor and finally wins an OSCAR! :O After watching this movie, I realized that this film had excellent cinematography! Alejandro González Iñárritu definitely made the visuals of this movie very pleasing for the audience's eyes! Alejandro definitely is a unique director and just like what Dicaprio said, this experience was really one of a kind!
This historical/survival/revenge drama was taken place in the Canadian wilderness and according to Alejandro, it was tough to shoot this film because the cast and crew had been filming it for 6 months! You might wonder why it took so long to finish filming for this movie, but that's because the director decided to use all natural light. No wonder the visuals were beautiful! Plus, I really liked how the director decided to portray the transitions. In most of the scenes, the transitions would just show the mountains, trees, river, etc. and showed nature's pristine beauty! Also just like Birdman, there was this one particular scene I vividly remember, and it was when Dicaprio was trying to hide from the Native Americans, and the camera applied the 180 Degree Rule, and the camera spun 180 degrees!
Instead of going on describing how impressive the visuals are, I also want to talk about the acting. The acting was no doubt exquisite! Leonardo Dicaprio did well, but Tom Hardy, Will Poulter, and Dohmnall Gleeson's acting was incredible too! You know that the movie is good when everyone's acting is phenomenal! Moreover, Dicaprio doesn't have that much line, but you can feel his emotions through his breathing! As you can tell, this movie is more of a kinesthetic type sort of movie! You can literally feel how Dicaprio felt every time he was gasping for air. It was filled with anger, agony, and sadness. It was painful to watch because the acting felt so realistic. Even at one point, the camera lens was filled with Dicaprio's mouth mist, which I thought was really cool!
The movie was gory, but it felt different compared to Saw and other thriller-gory movies. One of the most memorable scenes was the bear scene. Dicaprio gets ruthlessly attacked by a bear and gets nearly killed! It's as if a bear was *beep* with him. Also, there was this scene when Dicaprio drinks water and the water leaks out of his throat. Finally, the most mind-blowing scene was when he opens up the horse's stomach and takes out the premature animal babies and goes inside the horse to not freeze to death! :O (Literally OMG) And yet one of my friends thought that this movie was not gory.(Really?)
During the movie, Dicaprio would sometimes see a vision of his dead wife and son and at the end, it was depressing because after Dicaprio accomplishes his revenge by letting Tom Hardy die, now he has nothing to hold on to because he has accomplished his mission. So in the final scene, the wife looks at Dicaprio and turns away... :(
Anyways I think the director and actors did well and even though the plot is simple, this is more of a feel-type movie.
P.S: I have advice to my close friend Anirudh. You should not watch this movie! Horses are brutally murdered in this movie!

The Wailing, more commonly known as Goksung is a South Korean thriller film about a police officer who is trying to save his daughter from a mysterious illness that starts to spread around the neighborhood, including his daughter. Director Na Hong-Jin is well known for his other thriller movies including, The Yellow Sea and The Chaser and he once again successfully launched another successful movie this time.
While watching this film, some of the scenes reminded me of other movies. To illustrate, when there are transitions from one scene to the other, the director shows the mountains or the landscape just like The Revenant (2016). Furthermore, there is a scene where the shaman, Il-Gwang (Hwang Jeong-Min) drives in his car on a curvy road, which reminded me of The Shining (1980).
Throughout the movie, I was able to identify some of the hidden representation. (This is purely my opinion) I realized that this film had some biblical aspects such as there is both good and evil in this world. The director is trying to tell us that humans are weak-willed and that the devil likes to trick us with its mind games. Moreover, I believe that the camera had a profound meaning. In the end, The Stranger (Jun Kunimara) and the shaman take a picture of the victims, and I believe this is related to the Illuminati. Ultimately, the Illuminati’s purpose is to show the destruction of national identity, religion, and to create a single church, and power under their control through the media.
Probably most of the people, including myself, thought that the shaman was trying to help the police officer and his family, but “the devil” accordingly succeeded in tricking us, believing that the shaman (Hwang Jeong-Min) was the good guy.
To sum it up, the director wanted the audience to experience chaos/confusion. Although there are some opposing views, I found this film to be very intriguing, captivating, and unique.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens was my first star wars movie I've watched! It's unbelievable, but I have never watched the Star Wars series! I knew most of the characters but other than that I was a noob of Star Wars.
I liked how the movie adds diversity on the screen. You see a heroine Rey (Daisy Riddley) and Fin (John Boyega) as main characters. Also, some people claim that Po (Oscar Isaac) and Fin are secretly gay couples, but I don't know, nowadays people try to post a lot of things on the internet, so who knows? The plot was really easy to understand and probably Star Wars fan loved this movie because this movie hasn't come out in 10 years!
After watching this movie, it made me want to watch the entire series, and I really liked the new droid BB-8! One thing that kind of got me confused was Daisey Riddler knew how to communicate with the droid, but Fin couldn't understand a thing!
I don't want to spoil the movie, but there were some sad scenes and in a way, it felt like the Avengers because in Avengers you see all of the heroes unite and likewise in Star Wars, you know all of the old characters come back into the franchise.

The movie Hunger directed by Steve Mcqueen was a well-balanced movie with some political and allegorical aspects. The film mainly consisted of dialogues and unique cinematography.
I had no background knowledge of this movie and so as I was watching it, there were some scenes where I felt a little bit lost. Hunger mainly focuses on an Irish man named Bobby Sands (Michael Fassbender) who was one of the Republican prisoners in Northern Ireland. He is one of the first people to lead the "dirty protest" and hunger strikes and eventually leads to his death.
As you watch the film, you can't help notice how unique the cinematography was. There was this particular scene when a police officer sweeps the floor from one hallway to the end of the other. As I was watching this scene I was like "Surely he wouldn't clean the floor all the way until he reaches the camera will he?" and then he kept on sweeping the floor...
The movie was only 96 minutes long, but it felt longer because the pace was too slow for me. While the film was carefully composed, and the director tried to show the brutal scenes as descriptively as he can, the overall flow of the film felt it's a little too slow. And as I was watching, I couldn't help but feel sick when they showed the violent beating scenes and all the disturbing parts of the film when the main character was starving himself to death.
The climax of this movie was when Bobby Sands (Michael Fassbender) and Father Dominic Moran (Liam Cunningham) converses in the prison table. This scene is all about the dialogue, and this scene was the most memorable scene because it kind of summarizes what is going on, and both the actor's acting skills felt solid and genuine.
Therefore even though Hunger had all of the right elements, the pace of this film was the main drawback.

Kung Fu Panda was probably my favorite all-time animated movie when I was in elementary school. In fact, I have watched this movie 16 times! I used to memorize all the lines from the film, and it was hysterical. The cast was also unbelievably good such as Angelina Jolie, Jack Black, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogen, etc.
I also learned some valuable life lessons by the Kung Fu Master Oogway the Turtle: "Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That's why it's called a Present." and more.
Also, it taught me that we should all be determined even though it may be impossible. Po was always made fun of by the Furious Five and Shifu, but in the end, he defeated Tai Lung and became the hero! The fighting scenes were also fantastic, especially when Tai Lung and Shifu face each other in a one on one combat.

Bee movie at first may seem too conventional. It shows the life of Berry B. Benson (Jerry Seinfeld) who just graduated from college and needed to choose a lifetime career. Whether that might be a crud picker, Krelman or a stunt bee, Berry one day decided to be A stunt bee and collect honey from outside the beehive.
As he flies into the air and the song "Here comes the sun" by the Beatles comes out, That is when the movie comes alive! It descriptively shows how bees view the world outside their beehive and for the bees, everything looks strange and unusual. The sun, sky, and leaves, it's as if Barry and the audience were entering an entirely different world. Furthermore, it makes New York seem like a vibrant and lively city!
As Berry continues to fly while it's raining, he is saved by Vanessa Bloome, a florist in New York and as their relationship begins to 'bloom", he finds out that humans eat honey and that there are even bees trapped in slave labor camps (a.k.a honey farms). So he decides to sue them and get their honey back.
Many of my friends thought that his movie was horrible, but I believe that this film had a great message and a great plot! One thing I find weird is that Berry had a crush on Vanessa, which I think is totally odd! To sum it up, this movie is funny in an unusual way, eccentric, environmental, and even moving all at the same time!

Literally everyone on the internet was talking about Deadpool when it first came out, and a lot of people seemed to be really excited because the movie has finally come out! Well, for me I didn't know that much about Deadpool so all I was expecting from this film was that it would be gruesome and a lot of sexual references. Other than that, I didn't know what to expect at all.
Unlike other movie intros, Deadpool's movie intro was absolutely hilarious. Instead of showing us the name of the actors, it said things like "horrible douchebag", or "useless cameos," etc. Also, I think the people loved Deadpool because it was different with other typical Marvel superhero movies. It's kind of hard to believe that Deadpool is Marvel's first R-rated movie because I thought that some movies were R-rated, but all of them are PG-13!
Moreover, I thought that it was cool because we have not seen anything quite like this character. Many people told me that Ryan Reynolds suited the role really well, and I have to agree with them because Deadpool is a very talkative nature, and Ryan Reynolds voice tone was perfect for this role.
However, if I had to mention one negative aspect about this movie, it would definitely be the plot. The movie was a bit overrated and even though the Deadpool had various good qualities, the plot was really typical. I'm sure the director wanted to focus more on the comical aspect of this movie such as when Deadpool puts a lot of X-men and Green Lantern references in the film. So if you guys don't watch a lot of Marvel movies, you might not get the joke because a lot of the jokes are related to the Marvel Superhero Universe.
Anyways, I am pretty excited that Deadpool 2 is coming out, and I would give this movie a...

The Conjuring is one of the scariest movies from 2013! I don't really remember the plot as much as I wanted to because I don't want to watch the film again. After the film had ended, it said: "Based on a true story." Then that made me really scared because it wasn't made up.
Even though I watched The Conjuring with Chinese subtitles, I even forgot that there were Chinese subtitles because I was so focused on the movie. One memorable scene was when the mother says "Who's there?" and the curtain blows away because while I was watching that scene, the exact same thing happened to me also!
Therefore, even though I wanted to man up, I couldn't do it by myself and had to watch it with a friend. :P
Also, there is a scene when the mother goes down the basement and brings her matches and someone claps from the back.
I can't go into detail because I watched this movie a long time ago, and wouldn't want to watch it again because I'm scared...
