- DirectorAlfred HitchcockStarsJames StewartKim NovakBarbara Bel GeddesA former San Francisco police detective juggles wrestling with his personal demons and becoming obsessed with the hauntingly beautiful woman he has been hired to trail, who may be deeply disturbed. The movie poster is spot on naming this Hitchcock's masterpiece. Jimmy Stewart gives a great performance in the last of the four films he did for Alfred Hitchcock. Kim Novak, who looks beautiful in this movie does a great job too tackling the duel role that she played. One of the Hitchcock films best known for creating visual suspense. This is best evident in the scene where Stewart is following Novak around in his car throughout the city of San Francisco. Great performances in support by Barbara Bel Geddes and Tom Helmore, plus the famous dolly zoom that Hitchcock created while filming this movie make it a memorable one that deserves the honor of being Hitch's best film.
-10/10 - DirectorAlfred HitchcockStarsAnthony PerkinsJanet LeighVera MilesA secretary on the run for embezzlement takes refuge at a secluded California motel owned by a repressed man and his overbearing mother. No doubt, Hitchcock's most famous film, this is his first attempt of creating a "shocker". This movie was a large contradiction to other Hitchcock films of the time like "Vertigo" or "North by Northwest" that were large, lavish, high-budget Technicolor productions. Instead, this movie, we get a black-and-white film shot on a budget of $800,000 that was worked on by a lot of Hitch's TV crew for "Alfred Hitchcock Presents". Anthony Perkins gives a performance in this movie, which in my opinion is the best and most memorable performance by an actor out of any Hitchcock films. Janet Leigh also shines during the scenes in which she is present. My favorite Hitchcock film, but his best goes to "Vertigo".
-10/10 - DirectorAlfred HitchcockStarsFarley GrangerRobert WalkerRuth RomanA psychopath tries to forcibly persuade a tennis star to agree to his theory that two strangers can get away with murder by submitting to his plan to kill the other's most-hated person. While IMDb gives this one an 8.1/10, much of the public is unfamiliar with this one because it came at a time in which Hitchcock made a string of box-office flops. This movie is also the victim of featuring stars like Farley Granger and Ruth Roman, who were popular in the 1950s, have almost faded into obscurity by today's standards. Robert Walker gives a performance as the villain in this movie, which after Anthony Perkins "Psycho", is a close #2 to best performances given by actors in Hitchcock films. The memorable merry-go-round sequence at the end of the film is perhaps one of the more memorable sequences in Hitchcock films, right up there with the shower scene in "Psycho" or the Mount Rushmore sequence in "North by Northwest". This is a must see for all Hitchcock fans, as it is a pleasant surprise.
-10/10 - DirectorAlfred HitchcockStarsJames StewartGrace KellyWendell CoreyA bored photographer recovering from a broken leg passes the time by watching his neighbors and begins to suspect one of them of murder. What is there not to like about "Rear Window"? This movie features a cast of Hitchcock veterans, Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly, who give excellent performances. The movie, on a technical level, is Hitch's best, and perhaps one of the most masterfully technical films of all-time. This movie is Hitchcock's definition of "pure cinema", relying less on dialogue to tell the story, and more on camera movements, lighting, and music to tell the story. It is Hitch's first film at Paramount, which started a long string of successful films from "To Catch a Thief", "Vertigo", and lastly "Psycho" before moving to Universal in 1963 to make "The Birds".
-10/10 - DirectorAlfred HitchcockStarsTippi HedrenSean ConneryMartin GabelMark marries Marnie although she is a habitual thief and has serious psychological problems, and tries to help her confront and resolve them.Definitely Hitchcock's most underrated thriller. It's a tragedy to see that this movie wasn't better received when it came out, however over the years more critics and fans alike have seen and enjoyed this movie. 'Tippi' Hedren, in her second and final Hitchcock film gives her best performance of the two, and Sean Connery, who starred in "Goldfinger" the same year this one was released is equally as good. In my opinion, Hitch's most disturbing film and last high quality film before making a few more duds for Universal later in his career.
10/10 - DirectorAlfred HitchcockStarsCary GrantEva Marie SaintJames MasonA New York City advertising executive goes on the run after being mistaken for a government agent by a group of foreign spies, and falls for a woman whose loyalties he begins to doubt.
- DirectorAlfred HitchcockStarsCary GrantIngrid BergmanClaude RainsThe daughter of a convicted German spy is asked by American agents to gather information on a ring of German scientists in South America. How far will she have to go to ingratiate herself with them? This is my vote for Hitchcock's best film of the 1940's. Cary Grant, in his second out of four Hitchcock films gives a performance that besides "North by Northwest", is his best performance in a Hitchcock film. Ingrid Bergman in her second out of three Hitchcock films is definitely the most memorable in this one. This movie also features the famous tracking shot from the second floor balcony to the key in Ingrid Bergman's hand. Claude Rains also delivers a good performance in support.
