The Best Robots on Film
This list turned out to be an exercise of what to leave out. It's chronological, but I list whole series together for the most part.
Everyone knows that Japanese robots are the best, for example, but I did not include any anime robots here. Why? Because a) the list would go on for fifty pages, and it's not supposed to be a complete list anyway, just my favorites, and b) because half of the Japanese robots are piloted, which doesn't have the "thinking machine" vibe I'm going for with this list.
There are so many Androids out there - especially on TV where budgets are low - I thought about doing a Best Android list, but... most of my faves are listed here anyway.
Some of these movies feature cyborgs as well, but if see a title and you think "Robocop's not technically a robot, well, the ED-209 who tries to kill him is."
