My All Time Favorite Horror Films

I could have gone with The Exorcist but Suspiria still stands a very great view point of real tension and horror that creeps upon thoes who are weak and to point of letting there guard down. As many horror films are but this one is different because this has that naïveté that Dario Argento wanted because they don't slip into off the charts dumb just misguided. Mixed with a surreal and violent nature this films succeds. It's beautiful and haunting with colors and is the boldness of it being a creepy horror film that I can't help but love every minute of it.

I don't look to far into films when it comes to people say things like films made in the time of war are about that. Like many people say some films are some about Vietnam or some historical event when the film has hidden messages about that. But me I look for one thing will it scare the crap out of me and why well isn't it easy the moment the movie opens in a foreign country where it explains how serious they take religion and how little we do it is because we go to that extreme measure of horror to get what was broken fixed. Not to say anything wrong with either but it is promptly proven that Iraq the country in the beginning of the film takes place would have a total different outcome and tactics than the priest in NYC. But again would that lead to a more interesting film maybe but this is still truly one of the most satisfying horror film to creep upon you like no other.

Some might hate well many things from it being a one location film, weak special effects, acting and writing not living up to its potential, but some love zombies, vampires, or werewolves, but to me I love closed caption places that makes you feel your there. And with the right director and script you can have a real pleasant time watching everyday people turn into more monstrous than than the monster outside. Many films are like this but some don't reach it and Thomas Jane along with half of the cast from AMC The Walking Dead are really excellent. This is how you end a movie people with a true sense of frailty and bleakness that doesn't shy away might be truly unacceptable. Some people want joy in there horror films ending. But to me it is all about ending on a high note and boy was it accomplished. Understandable it has faults but it is a real enjoyable popcorn horror film for the ages.

Classics are classic for a reason because no matter how much the sequels and remakes keep making money there is no replacement for the real horror movie gem. When you are a filmmaker and focuses more on the people who control the beast rather than focus on leather face as a selling point then you have absolutely achieved horror film brilliant. The original is about those who do make terrible choices in both the teens and inbreeds but the way they use leather face as an object.

That is why the way the ending of killing everyone and letting leather face live is the right motive to keep behind the idea that this man is not human and unkillable. That is what makes the last shot of him swinging the chainsaw for a short period of time so affecting and game changing that no over slasher horror film except Psycho has come close to. Norman Bates has his stare Leather Face has his swinging chainsaw and it is brilliant beyond belief.

The black and white visuals are much more than way to set up a way to get a real physical sense of the worlds around these people who commit this crime. It is great scary and affecting and instead of focusing on the girls who fall for this trick instead we see the trueness of horror created by the family. Like so many others. But again the way it tells its story and the fall of this step by step is truly horrifying.

The reason why horror films work so affective in the state of mind of regular people or just people in general because this is what I think of true horror the is place in demons to capture that sense of really getting under the skin. This is the one movie that stayed in my mind for many months again because of the way it just makes everything feel an uneasy watch from beginning to end. It's by far a measure minding of how far this movie goes to a point of never seeing anything like this ever again.

The big shotgun scene in the first part of the movie of the killing of the family and of course the infamous double gage shotgun to the young teenage son and daughter does have a lot of people up at risks about the morals of the story. To me tho I understand that the mother and father where the ones to commit these unspeakable crimes committed I have understand that if you have a bunker filled with tortuous items that would make the Hostel people squirm in their seats and I also believe that the people continue their routine and maybe passed upon there children and becomes just liken them the whole thing is passed on and creates evil that can never be broken. It is the most graphic and unstable film about torture I have ever seen others can't compare. The more I think of it I feel it should be in any top ten of any horror list because it is that good. But I can never watch this film ever again.

High Tension indeed. Or as I like the original title Switchblade Romance which has two very promiscuous leads from a man and a woman and comes up as a clever chase of a film with some of the most stomach turning goodness you can hope for great film but the ending may not be for everyone.

While at times grizzly by natures view point of real terror and horror it plays out more as a drama then most films try to be with characters of waiting for the thing we all come to see but this time it is not over shown to much of torture but it does have incredible marks of a real sense of being some of the most affecting scenes ever put on screen.

Fast slow to me its as horrifying as good zombie movies get. Some are biased when the actual creatures may not be or are zombies. But they are zombies and I Am Legend is a vampire movie. Nevertheless Danny Bolye has made an incredible stage of terror to a new level. Slow tension burning and the last part of this all in the house of crazy and insane works well for the movie.

Is it slow yes but is it creepy o boy it is. This did get under my skin a true horror film for me the one that really truly captures everything about an average day holding much more than it seems. It's crazy insane and top notch stuff. I was really surprise to see that film was made in 2009 because I actually thought it was a 70's film. Ti West is a great filmmaker making the most scary sense out of many scenes to hold in actors before the big finally climatic end. That is how you direct a slow burner of a film that captures many different views on religion, and how this girl's desperation lead to this moment of true horror. Un expecting is the name of horror game.

Sick twisted and crazy as heck of a truly messed up film. And it is one of the most insane bonkers film on this planet. With real crazy human emotion that is created by all the most of actors and a director that adds so much insanity that creates so much of a powerful degree of so much well now I'm just bragging on but it is really a scar of a film and that is why I love it so much.

Like the Mist this has incredible acting and brilliant direction and storytelling to length of examining these characters true nature and never letting the audience go it is something different.
