Horror enters its biggest dry spell since the early 1950's. Endless sequels to the 80's horror franchises were growing stale and great original films were slim pickings. Ironically, it is a scary movie this year that captured usually elusive awards. There is always something worthwhile each year, but beyond the top of this list, things decline rather quickly. This is certainly one of the weakest years for horror in modern film, unfortunately.
