The script is hilarious and heartbreaking, the acting is so masterful from the lead performance of the ethereal Kevin Spacey, Annette Benning, Wes Bentley as the intensely pschotic next door neighbour, Thora Birch and the fantastic Chris Cooper. Heavily influenced by David Lynch whom I also love, the greatest film of all time in my opinion.

But this film is so much more than that. You care about not only the protagonist (Pacino) but also the antagonist (DeNiro) in equal measure leaving some rooting for one and some for the other. No other action film has drawn me in more. The film builds up to several climaxes, and after every one (especially the diner scene) you dont think it can reach higher, but the ending will prove you wrong

A solid 8.5/10

Underachievers stuck in an unexciting post war, prosperous America sick and tired of the formulaic life they lead and how that mentality affects the decisions they make throughout the film. Both DiCaprio and Winslet (two of my favourite actors) are powerhouses in this film, and the ending is heartwrenching.

Again I saw this in the cinema, and again it blew my mind. So much so that i saw it 3 more times. The film is so heavily layered that many people dont understand the plot layout or simply get confused, but when you grasp the idea of what Nolan's putting to paper, you'll realise he'd be the ultimate dinner guest.

Agoraphobically haunting, the film doesnt rely on extra-terrestrial beings or viscious monsters, but the seemingly ordinary family that arrives to caretake a hotel for the winter.
