The Best-Worst Companions Of Doctor Who (2005-2013)

such a cool hero, the type every man wants to be, loyal, accepting and makes every sexuality look cool in his amazing WW2 coat! Not to mention the fact that he worked amazingly with any other companion he was put in a scene with. Torchwood was amazing, or it was. RTD should never have killed owen off :P. In addition, naming series was the worst idea ever. as head writer, RTD should have just stuck to making 13 episodes series called 3, 4 and 5

i get that a lot of people didn't like martha but to be honest, rose did cast a big shadow and i think that the way type of acting freema put in to her character really gave the audience an exciting new character to explore, she was obviously complimented with david tennant, RTD and murray gold

more of a best mate to the doctor, she bought about a fresh new take on what it is for a human to travel through the time vortex. her quirks and sarcasm made us laugh but she was always very fast to make us cry in her finale moments (journeys end) overall a fantastic performance. all i will say is that some of series 4's episodes (Ep's 6,8,9 and 10) did not serve her well

Rose gave really good performances in scenes where she had to portray the human element of traveling with the doctor. her character got given a lot of depth, some are critical of this but i think it gave a lot of diverse companions looking back. rose complimented both Christopher and David in their roles and im sure we all shredded a tear for rose in her finale moments of doomsday, at least her story ended well

it was difficult for me to give 5th place to Amy as i was not fond of the show when Moffat took over. Matt and Karen continued to pilot the show as best they could in the new phase of DW. Their was an amazing amount of weight on both Karen and Matt's shoulders to act as rebounds from David and his groupies, considering both this and their half as good story lines, she was a brilliant companion, little bit cocky but i think that again can be traced to Moffat?

when i found out that Liz had been a companion back in the 70's i was amazed at how young she looked in school reunion. I obviously can't comment on her classical episodes, on the other hand her role in new who bought a deeper conscious to the doctor, speaking as a new fan , i enjoyed her attitude, composure and depth to the part, she was a treat for both old fans and new, loved by millions, remembered by millions more. RIP

Mickey is rather low on my list. I have done this because when i compare him with the other companions i think, well mickey acted with bad writing to his part in the story "rose", lets face it, no man like him would run behind a bin. even if you have just walked in the tardis....grow up RTD? my opinion of mickey was inconsistently negative from the story rose-the girl in the fire place. Mickey came to prime in the cybermen episodes, he emerged as the cool rebel we all knew he was, when he says "you stay were you are mr" to davros in journeys end, i thought *beep* YES! shame RTD never uttelised noel for torchwood, would have been epic right?

i wont spend to long going in to rory, im sure he has his fans for many reasons, the first being that he adds some gender diversity to the companionship of DW, the second possibly being he can switch from a nervous "human" over to a nervous "human" who punches the doctor in the face. Notice my lack of love for rory. i found his stutters and naive persona annoying, worse than Mickeys.

OK, not really a companion but the best of the parents?! very loyal to the doctor once she had excepted her place in her daughters life. She was given interesting stories such as army of ghosts and monsters and love. When i saw her shooting a dalek in journeys end i actually got goose bumps, as if those 2 episodes couldn't have got any better!! Great character development from RTD.

to young fans, yes she is amazing, on the other hand steven moffat so far has only used clara to please young fans, she skips arounds new planets with her little sachet as if she is a school girl, that annoying personality transpires in a lot of what she does and how she acts, i think as an actress she is brilliant and if RTD was still head writer of doctor who she could be in my top 5 however thanks to moffat, she drops to the bottom, rubbish character creation...

from the 2007 Christmas special - the end of time, Wilfred Mott was a brilliant character, bought about some lovely age diversity and all children wanted him as a grandpa, he is obviously one of the most experienced and best actors going, collide this with the brilliant character RTD wrote for him, it's no wonder Cribbins was one of my favorites. So why have i put him at the bottom i hear you ask? because he killed the best doctor ever! :( Bernard get out
