Brilliant British actor of film, television and theater, considered one of the greatest actors in activity. Hopkins was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1993 for his services for art, and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003. He was influenced and encouraged to become an actor by compatriot Richard Burton, and enrolled at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama, graduating in 1957. After two years serving in the British Army, he moved to London and began training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. After some years, Laurence Olivier invited him to join him at the Royal National Theatre. Despite his success, Hopkins got tired of repeating the same roles, night after night, hoping to work in movies, and even continuing in theater. Hopkins graduativamente walked away from the stage, if estabalecendo as an actor of film and television, where he would be nominated for four Oscars, winning the Óscar for Best Actor in "The Silence of the Lambs."
