Stan Lee Homage Poll
Considered one of the most important comic book writers of all time, Stan Lee passed away at the age of 95.
Stan Lee started writing comics in 1939, and he was essential to turn a small editorial into one of the most recognized comic book companies in the world, Marvel Comics.
Stan Lee not only created at least 2186 characters, including the most iconic characters from Marvel, he also started writing complex storylines that were different from anything that came before in comics. Giving personal problems and complex psychological profiles to his characters he turned the industry into a more mature media.
Stan Lee also played a part in taking the comic book characters to television, as animated series, and then to movies. That way his work became known to millions even if they had not read a comic book before.
His cameo appearances in Marvel films also probably turned him into the only comic book writer known beyond his medium.
Talking about his legacy, Stan Lee once said "Entertainment is one of the most important things in people’s lives. Without it, they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you’re able to entertain, you’re doing a good thing."
