Hitchcock - Master of Suspense.
To this day, Alfred Hitchcock remains one of the most celebrated directors in cinema history. He is responsible for pioneering several filmmaking techniques, as well as imbuing his films with his own brand of visual storytelling. He was that rare breed of director who could successfully advertise his own films. His greatest output is that of 1948 until 1964. Rather surprisingly, Hitchcock's British films have tended to be overshadowed by his Hollywood productions. However, his movies from 1926 to 1938 include some classics; "The 39 Steps," "Blackmail," "The Lodger," "The Man Who Knew Too Much" (1934), "The Lady Vanishes" are all recommended. Thanks to Francois Truffaut and the book he published about Hitchcock's career, Hitchcock began to be taken a lot more seriously as an artist of cinema from the mid 1960s onward.
