D4: Mightiest Ducks
Plot: The Movie starts at Gerrald Ducksworth’s Funeral and the Original Ducks (Charlie, Fulton, Goldberg, Averman, Jesse & Terry Hall and Connie) are all paying their respects and Bombay arrives late to lay an original Ducks Guernsey over the coffin. Gordan speaks to the funeral attendees and explains where he was, what Ducksworth had him do and how he funded what went on to be Team USA.
The Original Ducks arrive at a local Minnesota pub following the Funeral where Dwayne Robertson is the Pub owner, they are discussing their lives and going over old memories, Charlie has followed Bombay’s footsteps and is now a Lawyer, Fulton is a single Dad to a trouble young boy and in and out of work, Goldberg and Averman run a Player Management business where they manage the successful career of NHL Stars Adam Banks, Dean Portman and Gunnar Stahl (who are all playing the televised match on TV). Jesse and Terry Hall are the world famous Minnesota mules - a Rap partnership and Connie has become a successful Business Woman. Bombay tells the group how he is so proud of the people they all became and they reminisce about more old memories, Connie Mentions Charlies Mom and how Bombay and her wedding was one of her greatest memories after the goodwill games and Charlie and Bombay share a look to one and other before Headlights and blurred pictures cut through the scene.
Charlie continues to have visions through out the night and wakes up and turns to the bottle, having a few drinks before getting in the car and driving to work. However on the commute he is hit by a driver running a red light. Charlie loses consciousness and the Vision evolves into how his mother Passed away in a Car accident where someone also ran a red light.
When Charlie regains consciousness he is laid up in Hospital and Bombay is at his bed side table, the Doctor (Guy Germaine) comes in and talks to Charlie about his toxicology report and the Police roll into the room behind him in a serious manner. Charlie is charged with High Range Drink Driving and receives a Court Sentence.
The Judge rules Charlie to 500 hours of Community Service, Suspends his license and to attend AA meetings, after Charlie represents himself in Court with Bombay by his side.
He and Fulton catch up at Kenny Wu’s Westaurant and share some dinner with Fulton’s 12 year old son, where Fulton tell’s Charlie the coach of the Stars has quit the team and how Fulton would like to take on coaching the team but isn’t in the best place personally and wouldn’t be a great influence on the young kids. Charlie Ask’s young Reid who he plays with and it becomes apparent Dave Karp and Dwayne Robertson’s son also plays within the team also. Charlie tells Fulton he will take on the role as coach and how it will help his community Service hours.
Charlie arrives at training and while the Pedigree of the fathers of the players, the team is lacking in ability and the stigma of their fathers achievements before them. They are constantly reminded by the on lookers with comments and pointed fingers. A the completion of training Charlie gathers the parents and the kids together and suggests moving bring from the busy Adam Banks indoor Ice rink to a nearby park, where the facilities are not as good but the judging eyes will not be focused on who they aren’t.
Charlie gets the group of kids together on their own and realises these kids haven’t been taught how to play hockey and people have simply expected them to know how to play.
They move to play their first game and they are matched up against another local team (the Hawks) coached by Luis Mendoza and lead by their two star players. Jose Mendoza and Russ Tyler Jnr. The Stars are easily defeated and Charlie realises their is a lot of improvement to come from within his team.
Charlie wakes and calls Bombay and explains how the match went, and Bombay explains Charlie needs to set the example to the kids. Charlie talks to him about training methods and Game styles and Bombay explains he need to sort the basics first. Charlie with a rise smile know what this is going to take.
Charlie makes his way to Hans Sporting goods shop, named in honour of the late friend, as he enters the shop he see’s the Eden Hall picture of the circle of players all touching the Ice in Hans honour. Charlie buys skates for himself and the team and heads on over to the school. As the day ends and the kids make their way out, Charlie greets them at the gate with new Skates and off on a 90’s skate scene through the town they all head. Along the way, other kids through the town see them having a blast with their coach and look on inquisitively. As they skate on Charlie shouts them all a drink at Wu’s Restaurant and tells the they need to work harder than the other teams and if they would like, Charlie can make himself available at 7am - before school, for some extra work.
The Next day at school the talk around the classroom is centred around the Skate session the boys went on with their coach. Following the School day the kids get to training and two new faces are out on the ice, Two asian kids and Ken Wu’s with them. These two kids skate absolute circles around the current Stars and Ken Wu gives Charlie his vote of confidence telling the group he didn’t want his kids playing for just any coach!
The next morning rolls around and kids start to get to the park and Charlie is there waiting for there with Ice Skates on and Stick in hand, he goes through the basics with each and everyone of them and starts to build relationships with the kids.
The next game rolls around and they win 3-2.
There is another week of training and talking to Bombay.
Another match, 4-3 win, More training, more conversations with Bombay, Another match, 5-2 win, More training, more conversations with Bombay, Another match, 7-0 win and both Young Reid and Young Robertson are improving well and scoring, however David Karp’s son becomes an absolute prodigy. Another match, 7-2 win, More training, more conversations with Bombay, Another match, 5-0 win, More training, more conversations with Bombay.
Everything is swimming and the Anaheim Ducks are playing the Minnesota Wild with Banks, Portman and Stahl all going to be in town for their last matches as they are all retiring, Averman comes down to training and give ticket out to the team and they all head to watch the match. Banks Scores a Hat trick, Portman is the Physical Best he always was and Stahl is an absolute rock in defence. Julie and Gunnar catch up with Charlie at the end of the match (they are married with son) and explain how they are moving to Minnesota and how they would love for their Son to also Play under Charlie.
The Stars play the Hawks again as the top two teams compete and unfortunately the Hawks are victorious again 9-2. Charlie doesn’t take the loss well and is quite animated with the team and loses himself for a while. Fulton feels guilty he has put this pressure on his old friend and also loses his job, placing further stress on their relationship. They then have a falling out and Fulton pulls his son from the team.
The Next training sesion Charlie does not show, but Bombay is there to pick up the slack for the kids, Julie brings her son down as they have now moved into the area and he is a physically developed young boy. The Kids mention throughout training how their team is completely different than it was at the start of the season and how they had lost their friends and Hockey wasn’t fun anymore. Bombay hears this and huddles up the group and give a speech about keeping the game fun. Charlie makes his way to training late and apologises to the kids and ends up in tears of guilt, they forgive him and move in to hug their coach.
The next match rolls around and Young Stahl forms a great partnership with Young Karp and Robertson and they demolish their opponents 12-0. Young Ried is watching from the stands with the Hawks team in a Hawks uniform and is seen between Young Mendoza and Tyler Jnr, however looks very uneasy. At the completion of the match the Hawks walk past the Stars and share barbs back and fourth.
The following week at training Young Ried rocks up to training with the Stars and tell them he doesn’t want to play with any one else other than his friends. The Group again welcome him back and shower him with a stacks on pile.
The Next match rolls around and in the rooms before the match Fulton Ried walks in with a big box, looks at Charlie and nods, places the box down, moves to shake Charlies hand and says “this is a good team, it needs some spirit! You’ll find your answer in the box, Coach” When Charlie opens the box, he sees new Uniforms for them team - Ducks uniforms. He looks up to the group of kids grinning like a cheshire cat and gives them all the spiel of what it means to be a Duck and Fly together!
Match Montage and they rampage through the opposition, 12-0 win, More training, Another match, 13-0 win, Another match, 7-0 win, Another match, 10-0 win.
The ladder is posted and the Hawks have finished top with a 14-0 Record and the Ducks Second with a 12-2 record, the Playoff match has the papers talking. At training throughout the week, Charlie has is teaching the team about strategy and someone mentions the Famous Flying V, Charlie smiles and then it cuts to a scene of him teaching them all the Triple Deke.
The match up against the Hawks starts and the Ducks Dominate however just seem unable to out the puck in the back of the net, they are Physically bigger than the Hawks with Young Stahl leading the first rotation and Young Ried the enforcer of the second unit. Two periods pass and the match drags on 0-0, but as the match progress’ the Hawks superior fitness starts to take over the match. Early in the third Period Tyler Jnr gets out to a sick break and slots in a nice goal to take a 1-0 lead and then Young Mendoza, showcasing some breakneck speed gathers a loose puck and nets a second for the Hawks. A Wu to Wu combination see’s the Ducks respond quickly to the Second goal and in the dying stages of the third Period loose puck makes it’s way to Reid, he looks up from the half way line to see his father behind the Goal and only the Keeper infant of him. Young Ried winds back his stick and lays a Slapshot out of nowhere that breaks through the netting and smashes the back glass, reminiscent of his father in his glory days. As the Glass Shatters the silent sounds and with the Score tied at 2-2 the game moves to extra time. The extra time comes and goes and the score stays at 2-2 and off to penalty shootouts, where young Karp has the final shot and with a lovely Triple Deke puts the Puck past the Hawks keeper and claims Victory for the Ducks.
Everyone celebrates together and Gordon tell’s Charlie once again how proud he is of Charlies efforts. Charlie and Fulton Share a hug and the Two Wu lads, Young Ried, Stahl, Robertson swap Young Karp and cary on, before heading over to shake hands with Young Mendoza and Tyler Jnr.

Come over to shake Charlies hand and congratulate him on his success and the work he has done with this team, when the Association president comes over and announces the State would be sending a team to the Nation Championships next year and he would like Charlie and Luis to Coach the team together.
*Many holes, but that could be for the producers to complete and this would allow for a 5th spin off to manifest, they are remaking everything so why not?
