- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsRobert De NiroSharon StoneJoe PesciIn Las Vegas, two best friends--a casino executive and a Mafia enforcer--compete for a gambling empire and a fast-living, fast-loving socialite. Not as credulous (at least critically) as it's brother, Casino approaches a very vibrant, but hellish mob world that Casino highlights is something that will not be able to be replicated for a long time.
- DirectorCurtis HansonStarsKevin SpaceyRussell CroweGuy PearceAs corruption grows in 1950s Los Angeles, three policemen - one strait-laced, one brutal, and one sleazy - investigate a series of murders with their own brand of justice.Something about LA Confidential makes me want to watch it every day, even though I know I won’t. Is it the glitz and glamour painted with a black and nasty brush? Is it the incredible three character dynamic? Whatever the reason, this is about as perfect a movie gets.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsBrad PittDiane KrugerEli RothIn Nazi-occupied France during World War II, a plan to assassinate Nazi leaders by a group of Jewish U.S. soldiers coincides with a theatre owner's vengeful plans for the same.Barely English, this is easily one of Tarantino's best films, incorporating several phenomenal performances.
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsRobert De NiroRay LiottaJoe PesciThe story of Henry Hill and his life in the mafia, covering his relationship with his wife Karen and his mob partners Jimmy Conway and Tommy DeVito.Easily Scorcese's most iconic piece, Goodfellas is a gritty, but involving story that captivates its audience entirely.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsUma ThurmanDavid CarradineDaryl HannahAfter waking from a four-year coma, a former assassin wreaks vengeance on the team of assassins who betrayed her.Revenge never has been such a cold dish. Classic Tarantino, with the prize being Uma Thurman's screen presence.
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsMichael DouglasDeborah Kara UngerSean PennAfter a wealthy San Francisco banker is given an opportunity to participate in a mysterious game, his life is turned upside down as he begins to question if it might really be a concealed conspiracy to destroy him.
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsJesse EisenbergAndrew GarfieldJustin TimberlakeAs Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg creates the social networking site that would become known as Facebook, he is sued by the twins who claimed he stole their idea and by the co-founder who was later squeezed out of the business.I remember watching the trailer for this movie when it was first coming out. I was about 12 then. About 8 years later, I gave this film a watch and was simply mesmerized with the bizarre, yet enfranchising tale of Mark Zuckerberg’s intriguing path of self destruction on account of something entirely of his craft. A phenomenal Fincher piece, with a fantastic soundtrack, and exceptional screenwriting by Sorkin makes this a quiet storm in the top echelon of my favorite films.
- DirectorPaul Thomas AndersonStarsMark WahlbergJulianne MooreBurt ReynoldsAn idealistic porn producer aspires to elevate his craft to an art when he discovers a hot young talent.Terrific in length in more ways than one, this classic highlights a gritty business, but does it well. Ironically, some of it's worst scenes add to its cinematic value.
- DirectorSam MendesStarsKevin SpaceyAnnette BeningThora BirchA sexually frustrated suburban father has a mid-life crisis after becoming infatuated with his daughter's best friend.American suburbia comes down in Kevin Spacey’s brave and commanding hands. Plus, Annette Benning is one crazy and incessant biatch in this movie.
- DirectorPeter WeirStarsRobin WilliamsRobert Sean LeonardEthan HawkeMaverick teacher John Keating returns in 1959 to the prestigious New England boys' boarding school where he was once a star student, using poetry to embolden his pupils to new heights of self-expression.I knew this film was good when I first saw it. I just didn’t realize how good until I thought about it a few months later. The absolute best coming of age story I can attest to witnessing. Amazing writing and characters help demonstrate the exceptional value of DPS.
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsDaniel CraigRooney MaraChristopher PlummerJournalist Mikael Blomkvist is aided in his search for a woman who has been missing for 40 years by hacker Lisbeth Salander.
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsBen AffleckRosamund PikeNeil Patrick HarrisThe husband of a missing woman becomes the chief suspect in her disappearance.
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsBrad PittEdward NortonMeat LoafAn insomniac office worker and a devil-may-care soap maker form an underground fight club that evolves into much more.
- DirectorJonathan DemmeStarsJodie FosterAnthony HopkinsScott GlennA young F.B.I. cadet must receive the help of an incarcerated and manipulative cannibal killer to help catch another serial killer, a madman who skins his victims.Sinister and eerie beyond belief, it’s probably the best two character centric dynamic I’ve seen in cinema. Anthony Hopkins’ Lecter resonates for the entire movie with a commandingly disturbing presence. The movie has and hasn’t aged well, but I think that works for its benefit.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHugh JackmanScarlett JohanssonRival 19th-century magicians engage in a bitter battle for trade secrets.Going into this movie, I knew the twist. But I did not know the other part about the twist, which escalated this film from great to phenomenal. Christian Bale’s role in this movie is consequential and imperative, and he fits the role perfectly. Kudos also to Michael Caine’s two faced role, adding on to what I would consider a revolutionary film combining multiple different facets.
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJoseph Gordon-LevittElliot PageA thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O., but his tragic past may doom the project and his team to disaster.
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJonah HillMargot RobbieBased on the true story of Jordan Belfort, from his rise to a wealthy stock-broker living the high life to his fall involving crime, corruption and the federal government.Wolf of Wall Street has a ton going on, which is what makes it a cinematic masterpiece. The cast is well put together, and the movie deserves every inch of praise it gets.

- DirectorOliver StoneStarsWoody HarrelsonJuliette LewisO-Lan JonesTwo victims of traumatized childhoods become lovers and psychopathic serial murderers irresponsibly glorified by the mass media.
- DirectorOliver StoneStarsVal KilmerMeg RyanKyle MacLachlanJim Morrison's life, from his LA film student days to his death in Paris. Val Kilmer delivers an uncanny portrayal, with vocals indistinguishable from Morrison's originals. It depicts Morrison's journey as the iconic 60s rock frontman.
