Men Getting Whumped
Films where men get whumped on - abducted, tied up, beaten, abused, tortured, you name it. And not just for a scene or two, but where the whump is an integral part of the film's plot. This is by no means a complete list. Just something I'm working on making at the moment.

- DirectorTony PiccirilloStarsJames MarsdenScott SpeedmanSofía VergaraTom (Speedman) and Dan's (Marsden) one-night stand turns into an intense power-play between captor and captive.LOVE this movie. James Marsden is absolutely delicious and a definite favorite of mine, so seeing him spend practically the entire film bound with handcuffs and ropes is a wonderful treat. He also gets gagged with tape several times - and I love the way he fights it and looks so furious and indignant when gagged. Yes, please! He does a wonderful job in this role, running the gamut from anger to vulnerability and everything in between - and selling every moment of it. Wonderful!
Scott Speedman is great as the villain here. He is totally believable as a man who has come more than a little unhinged at the moment - but is ultimately a normal guy in a terrible place in his life. He walks the fine line between sympathetic loser and unpredictable psycho with ease - and it makes the movie endlessly entertaining. I really, really enjoyed this one. Kept me on the edge of my seat, made me feel for the characters, AND satisfied my need for whump! - DirectorStanley KubrickStarsMalcolm McDowellPatrick MageeMichael BatesIn the future, a sadistic gang leader is imprisoned and volunteers for a conduct-aversion experiment, but it doesn't go as planned.A lot is said about the violence in this film, particularly in regards to the assaults, rapes and murder committed by the main character in the first half hour of the film. However, in the last half+ of the film, that same main character is subjected to all kinds of nastiness, himself: he's punched, spit on, handcuffed, strip searched, imprisoned, straitjacketed, tortured, brainwashed, humiliated for an audience, beaten, nearly drowned, carried, drugged, tortured again, driven to suicide, hospitalized in a nearly full body cast, hand-fed... and probably some other things I've forgotten. Whew. Definitely one for this list. Malcolm McDowell does a good job in the whole film, and it's certainly a performance for the ages in a general sense, though I'm not sure if his performance specifically as a whumpee necessarily stood out. It was certainly good, and he definitely sold the fear, sickness and suffering of his character, but it just didn't GRAB me, if you know what I mean ;)
There's too many "villains" in this film to really mention any of them by name or critique their performances as such. Poor Alex pretty much gets it from everyone in the film at some point, which is wonderful - but also keeps the viewer from associating any one particular character as the "instigator" in what happens to him. - DirectorJason BourqueStarsJosie BissettSarah GreyRichard HarmonWhen a boy goes missing, clues lead his sister and mother to believe their asocial neighbor was involved in the abduction; forcing them to take the law into their own hands. This one's a Lifetime Movie, so there's nothing too graphic in it, but Richard Harmon's character gets locked (nearly naked) in a dog cage for about a half hour or so of the film, so it's definitely worth checking out. He looks good in there, too - and he does a great job playing an innocent and scared young man ;)
Our 'villains' in this scenario are Josie Bissett and Sarah Grey, who do well as the hard-nosed mother and the easily-duped daughter (respectively) who capture Richard's character and try to force the truth of what happened to their son/brother out of him. - DirectorLucy PhillipsGlen ScantleburyStarsTrevor MorganTessa FerrerJelly HowieJessica and Dave along with three other young couples are kidnapped in Griffith Park by unseen Abductors and must fight to escape certain death only to discover the world will never be the same. This one's a great flick for fans of couples getting whumped together. The abduction happens very early in the film (like, 5 minutes in) and they stay in captivity until nearly the end (I won't say anything more about the end). There's nothing overly graphic, but lots of peril and angst over each other and over their captivity. David Morgan is the male of the couple, and he does a good job here as our main male whumpee - although it's really more of an all-around whump-fest than something that's focused on one specific victim. Again, couples/group whump enthusiasts, watch this one!
The villains in this film are all good at the roles they play. The majority of the film is spent wondering just who they are and what they want - so I really can't say much about them without ruining what makes the film fun. Overall, this was an interesting and whumpy film that I enjoyed watching. - DirectorMichael BayStarsAerosmithIsabelle AubinOdile CorsoAerosmith performs in the music video "Falling in Love (Is Hard on the Knees)" from the album "Nine Lives" recorded for Columbia Records. Steven Tyler sings and the band plays in a theater decorated in black. Video clips of couples dysfunctional relationships and women dressed as brides, nurses, dominatrices, and princesses. This music video features lots of playful whump and bondage throughout the entire clip, starting with a guy in a fiberglass tank with his tongue clamped by a leash being held by a domme while he grovels to her. Then we have another guy suspended in full traction in a hospital scene, another guy getting smacked by his bride, and a guy swinging in a cage. Combine all this with supermodels in control, a good song and the band writhing around in straitjackets and you have yourself one damn fine music video.
- DirectorJohn Mark RobinsonStarsZach GalliganTeri HatcherLara HarrisLinda's boyfriend Brian loves checking out other women, so her best friends Kim and Sharon convince her that the three of them kidnap him and torture him until he learns his lesson. For a comedy, the bondage is surprisingly good in this. Zach Galligan spends a good portion of the movie tied up and "tortured" (nothing serious, though) by his (ex-)girlfriend and her two roommates. Not much whump (the blood left by the shaving scene is the fakest thing ever), but he does struggle to get free, beg and get frustrated. Very nice to watch ;)
The three ladies responsible for his predicament aren't very frightening, but they do a solid job in their roles. Teri Hatcher is sort of non-descript as the girlfriend, but Lara Harris is delightful as the ball-busting friend who ends up falling for a cop, and Tracy Griffith is awesome as the ditzy friend. I also loved Abel Folk as Max. He's not one of the instigators, but his character is just really likable. Overall, this is a super cute little 90's comedy where everybody ends up happy... and we get a bunch of bondage to boot ;) - DirectorAlex GravesStarsJoel KinnamanJames PurefoyMartha HigaredaTortured by his captor, Kovacs taps into his Envoy training to survive. Ortega springs a surprise on her family for Día de los Muertos. This episode finds Takeshi Kovacs (both versions!) getting whumped throughout the entire episode in a virtual environment. As a result, the torture is pretty hardcore - but without any permanent effects. Nice! Joel Kinnaman's Kovacs gets the main brunt of the torment, as he's tortured for information (and I think for fun, let's be real) by a bad guy played by Tahmoh Penikett, who happens to be a favorite of mine :) He gets pretty much everything thrown at him in these scenes - cuts, fire, blowtorches, dismemberment, you name it - and they go on through most of the episode. Kinnaman does a great job as the whumpee of these scenes - his fear, pain and struggles are all very believable.
There are other scenes interspersed, of course - some of which are of Will Yun Lee's Kovacs in a training program, where he's chained up, cut and beaten by his trainer (and love interest), played by Renée Elise Goldsberry. The sexual tension in those scenes is off the charts, and it culminates in a steamy kiss - very hot stuff. Nice! - DirectorMichael PolishStarsKate BosworthWes BentleyOlivia Rose KeeganA misery-esque tale of a man who wakes up in bed after an accident, suffering from memory loss. He begins to suspect that his wife isn't really his real wife and soon finds himself a prisoner in the house. This film has some awful reviews, but I actually really liked it. Wes Bentley is a delicious whumpee - starting out the film injured and weak, then eventually getting strapped to beds and chairs and electro-shocked and beaten and all kinds of things. Maybe it's because the "whump" alone helped to keep my interest throughout, I didn't find this movie boring or tedious at all (as others have said). It kept me guessing and wondering what was up through the whole thing - and the ending didn't disappoint.
Kate Bosworth was wonderfully chilling and twisted throughout, giving an understated and subtle performance of a woman who has lost her freaking mind. Dismembering dead bodies with a bone saw whilst wearing a negligee and fur coat? That's like the epitome of psycho chic, and it will be hard for anyone to top that in my book. - DirectorJonah LoopStarsSamuel L. JacksonKellan LutzJohnny MessnerDavid Lord finds himself forced into the savage world of a modern gladiatorial arena, where men fight to the death for the entertainment of the online masses. Our whumpee in this film is played by Kellan Lutz. He does a brilliant job of it, being chock full of fury and defiance - and just the right amount of vulnerability when he's been pushed a little too far. This flick is like a bingo card of whump tropes for us to enjoy: abduction, imprisonment, torture (auditory, waterboarding, brain washing), hunger, bondage (chains, zip ties, a muzzle, a straight jacket, cells), and, of course, grievous bodily harm followed by amateur first aid delivered by a beautiful lady who eventually falls in love with him. Whew! Goodness. Daniel Dae Kim is also in this film and gets whumped a bit, himself - he's imprisoned, gets sliced up in a fight, gets dealt some major emotional whump, and dies (oops).
The villains in this one are kind of non-descript, aside from one of them being played by Samuel L. Jackson. I mean, they're nuts and evil and all that stuff - but most of the real damage is done by the nameless, faceless opponents Kellan's character fights. The villains are, of course, the bad guys pulling the strings behind everything, but they rarely deliver the actual whump themselves. - DirectorJonathan MossekStarsAndie MacDowellCary ElwesFrank WhaleyIn this psychological thriller full of shocking twists, what begins as an average day for Ethan (Elwes) takes a dangerous turn when he's kidnapped and held hostage in his New York apartment by three assailants. This is a really great film that keeps you on the edge of your seat all the way to the end. And, of course, since it's on this list, there's plenty of whump in it, as well. Cary Elwes is our honorable whumpee in this film, and he gets it really good - he spends most of the film bloody and duct-taped up, and also finds himself stuck in a chained up fridge, hung from a noose, threatened with a knife, forced to hobble barefoot over broken glass... and all kinds of other goodies. Mind you, he's older and heavier than he was in his heyday, but he's still a good-looking man and I ain't complainin' ;) However, I do find his American accent unappealing, and somehow higher pitched than his normal voice, which is also annoying. Eh, small quibble.
Our villains in this one are a mixed bag. Andie MacDowell is equal parts chilling and sympathetic as the widow of the man they think Cary's character murdered. Matt Dallas starts out as the unhinged bad guy but somehow evolves into the more humane one somehow (?), and Frank Whaley is the one who starts out seeming cool, calm and collected and turns out to be the most *beep* crazy of them all. Overall, it's a thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat AND gives some top notch whump, so I highly recommend it! - DirectorTed PostStarsAnjanette ComerRuth RomanMarianna HillA social worker, still reeling from the loss of her architect husband, investigates the eccentric, psychedelic Wadsworth Family, consisting of a mother, two daughters, and an adult son with the apparent mental capacity of an infant. So, technically, the character of Baby (played as well as one could hope for by David Mooney) is 'whumped' throughout the entire film, as his mother and older sisters have kept him as a baby for his entire life. He doesn't walk, talk, or do anything for himself. He's not even potty trained. As his caseworker says at one point, trapping a fully grown man in the life of an infant is a kind of torture.
However, the film only rarely presents it as such. There's one scene where Baby is subjected to a vicious attack with a cattle prod (delivered by the sister played by Susanne Zenor) while she repeatedly 'trains' him that "Baby doesn't stand! Baby doesn't talk!" which certainly shows us the violence and brainwashing he's suffered through to cause him to be in the state he's in - but for nearly the entire rest of the film, his predicament is not presented as something he's really suffering with. He seems, well, blissfully ignorant of just how mistreated he is, which makes the 'whump' aspect negligible.
In short, this one's not recommended for whump fans at all, though it's certainly worth a single viewing just so you can say you've seen this truly bizarre cult classic. - DirectorChuck VincentStarsGeorgina SpelvinRandy SpearsLinda BlairArtist who lives in an old mansion imagines that her dead husband has been reincarnated as her son.I went into this one expecting to be disappointed, since it's obviously an old B-movie and those generally tend to disappoint. However, the whump is actually quite nice, even if the movie itself isn't. It starts out slow for the first half, but Randy Spears (billed as Gregory Patrick here) spends the entire last half of the movie in various states of undress, bondage and peril. He gets tied up, gagged, smacked around, tortured a bit, gagged some more, raped by his mother, dragged around by a rope leash... and he watches helplessly as the psycho goes after his wife and, later, his adoptive parents. I'd say Mr. Spears (Mr. Patrick?) does a decent job of selling the whump for us. I mean, it's not great, and he has some lame dialogue (the few times he's allowed to speak, that is - he's gagged a LOT, yum), but he does whimper, whine, cry and stumble around like a champ. AND he's pretty cute. We'll give him an A for effort.
Georgina Spelvin (billed as Ruth Raymond - what's up with all the pseudonyms in here?) is kinda unintentionally hilarious as the crazy biological mother. She definitely overacts every single scene she's in, but I found her fun to watch. I mean, I'll be honest - this is a bad movie and I only watched it for the whump, but her crazy antics WERE also amusing.
Overall, if bad movies make you itch, fast-forward til about 55 minutes in for the whumpy half. If you're a bit more forgiving and have time to kill on a bad flick, go ahead and watch the whole thing. Also, make note of the ridiculously long slo-mo scene just before the whump starts. I would think it should be illegal to have a slo-mo scene that long, lol. - DirectorPhilippe HaïmStarsJean RochefortGuillaume CanetClaire KeimA mad but cunning old man imprisons a young man in his apartment to be his friend.Brilliant film! Our whumpee here is Guillaume Canet, who is simply adorable and is SO enjoyable through this whole film. He gets knocked out, handcuffed, gagged, fire extinguishered (haha), hogtied, tied up in bed, chained and imprisoned... along with all kinds of delicious angst, anger and crying, all played to perfection by Mr. Canet here.
Our villain is the late Jean Rochefort, who is a genius here and just a sheer delight to watch as the completely unhinged Mr. Clement. What a talent that man was. This film is an absolute must see for anyone who likes men in peril or abduction flicks. It's very good. - DirectorChew BarkerStarsGuy EdmondsJohn BoxerPeter McAllumGeorge is a haunted man. He enters Bedlam Hospital for a guaranteed recovery, but it is a world darker than even his demons could conjure. Once, he fought for sanity, now he fights to survive. Welcome to Bedlam. This is a strange little film about a guy who checks himself into the asylum run by, you know, the "ex"-nazi psychiatrist he's gone to for help with his schizophrenia. Like, that's just not a good idea, dude. Maybe find yourself a doctor who's, you know, NOT a nazi. Anyway, this film is basically a string of torturous old-timey medical procedures (and straight-out violent punishments) being performed on our hapless male lead, played by Guy Edmonds, along with a couple other patients. Folks who like mental hospital whump will find this film absolutely delightful, though it's surprisingly short on straitjacket whump. How does that even happen?
Don't be dissuaded by the opening scene's visceral gore - it's far worse than anything else in the film, and I made it through the whole film with only a couple of winces and brief glances away. Also, don't let the "based on real events" nonsense ruin your fun, either. It's not any real person's tragic story or anything like that. You'll understand why that blurb's in the beginning when you get to the end.
Guy Edmonds does a great job here, really selling the pain and fear and mental illness inherent in this role, and looking delicious even when suffering. The actors playing Dr. Black and the two orderlies are very good at what they're doing - coming off as chilling and sadistic in all the right ways, but not stealing the focus from the atrocities themselves. I really enjoyed Cassandra Swaby and Gary Boulter as fellow patients, as well. Mr. Boulter wears a straitjacket through the whole film, for those into that sort of thing, but it's never buckled up. Whyyyy? - DirectorChristopher SpencerStarsKeith DavidAdrian SchillerPaul BrightwellJesus is brought before Pilate and is sentenced to die by the Roman crucifixion. A large number of people followed Him, including women who mourned and wailed for Him. Unable to carry the cross bar, Simon of Cyrene was put upon to carry it to Golgotha, where He is crucified for all to see. When He commends His Spirit to God, the sun was darkened and the earth quakes as His mother stands by.
- DirectorDylan BankStarsRobert LoggiaCharles DurningTony ToddAn undercover journalist travels to small-town Mansionville attempting to expose its dark secrets. He quickly discovers the town is home to a cult of five twisted sisters that capture men for a sadistic yearly ritual. This one's a super low budget bizarro film that's a mix of cheese, torture porn and... porn porn? But it's enjoyable in its own way, if you go into it knowing what to expect and not taking it remotely seriously. Within the first few minutes, you're treated to a shot of Santa Claus's dick as he's taking a leak - and it's candy cane striped, with ornaments for balls and tinsel for pubic hair. That's the tone of the film right in a nutshell.
As for the actual whump... Well, there's four guys (technically five, but one of them bites the bullet early on) abducted and bound in a theater, where they're subjected to all kinds of torture and sexual assault by five buxom ladies in lingerie. I mean, there's a lot to enjoy here, if sexual whump and borderline pornography doesn't bother you. If they DO bother you, then you should obviously steer clear of this. Oh, and seeing as the ladies' goal is to murder all of these men after having their fun with them, if deadly whump is a big no-no for you, you might also want to pass on this one. I'll admit that I didn't care for the guy they killed off right away, but the other four victims are very enjoyable to watch. The final murder is a bit much, in my opinion, but meh.
The villains are... Well, they act with the skill of, uh, porn stars, really. But that's part of the charm of the film, and I'm not even sure if they're purposely acting that way or just aren't good actresses. I'd have to see them in something else to really know.
Also, what's up with the God/Jesus/Santa/etc subplot? And what the heck are Robert Loggia and Tony Todd doing in this? There's no end to the weirdness of this film and I love that about it. WTF, indeed. - DirectorDean FrancisStarsMatt LevettTom O'SullivanAnthony PhelanBullying is taken to unimaginable extremes when a student is raped at an exclusive private boys school. This short film is really just a quick shower room gang rape (well, sodomy anyway) scene in a boys' private school (but the actors are nowhere near school aged, don't be alarmed) with a weird ending slapped on for good measure. Not really much to say about it, as there's not really much here and it comes off a little... weird. And I say that as someone who's making an IMDB list like this, so... Yeah. Weird.
- DirectorGabe TorresStarsStephen DorffChyler LeighJR BourneA Secret Service agent is held captive in the trunk of a car and endures mental and physical torture as terrorists attempt to extract information for their plot against the President of the United States.GREAT movie! Lots of angst and panic and peril all in a tense, claustrophobic atmosphere. The whole movie is gold and Stephen Dorff turns in an excellent performance as our imperiled whumpee. The film is entirely him in a fiberglass case inside a car trunk, but he manages to keep your attention through the whole film - and his pain, rage, fear and determination are such a delight to watch.
His unseen assailants are all the more intimidating for the fact that you can only see the glimpses of them that he sees - a hand here, a voice there. Overall, this one's a must see for folks who enjoy watching men in peril. - DirectorNash EdgertonStarsBrandon FlowersCharlize TheronGosh, this music video is great. Brandon Flowers spends the whole video kidnapped, trussed up, roughed up... and getting rescued by his lady love (who happens to be played by the gorgeous Charlize Theron, by the way, who is just bad ass in this). Over and over and over again, abducted, whumped, rescued... like a whump-lover's daydreams brought to vivid technicolor reality and set to a pretty darn good song. My only complaint about this one is IT'S TOO DARN SHORT. I could watch a couple hours of this stuff, EASY.
- DirectorRodrigo CortésStarsRyan ReynoldsJosé Luis García-PérezRobert PatersonPaul is a U.S. truck driver working in Iraq. After an attack by a group of Iraqis he wakes to find he is buried alive inside a coffin. With only a lighter and a cell phone it's a race against time to escape this claustrophobic death trap.Absolutely brilliant film. It's just Ryan Reynolds in a coffin underground, but he carries the entire movie beautifully and delivers a thrill ride from start to finish. Bravo, Ryan Reynolds! Acting accolades aside, this film is also great for whumpers, as Ryan's character spends literally the entire film in a state of panic as he tries desperately to save his own life. Fans of buried alive whump will find this film positively delightful :D
We never see his captors, only hear one of their voices over the cell phone. Meh. They're annoying, more than anything, but I think we're not meant to be particularly impressed by them or their bullying of random Americans who cross their paths... so I feel it's appropriate that they're more annoying than anything else. The snake is a bit much, really, and over-acted it's one scene.
-SPOILER ALERT- If it's necessary for your whumpees to survive their ordeals, you might not want to hop aboard this particular train, as this one does end in death. However, the film makes a poignant point about the value of life and how the cogs and wheels of governments and big business seldom see (or care about) the individual lives at risk (or lost) in the name of making a buck or saving their own asses. - DirectorJasmine Yuen CarrucanStarsTravis McMahonDavid LyonsBryan BrownA man is kidnapped from his city home in the quiet hours of the night and, the kidnapper, John Kelly, embarks on a journey into the Australian Outback towards the place where his hostage is due for delivery. As time and distance roll by, the strength and endurance of both men will be tested to the very end. This movie's not very heavy on the injuries, but it's got some lovely bondage in it. David Lyons spends nearly the entire movie tied up, taped up, tethered to a car and even gagged - and he looks marvelous doing all of it, I must say. The acting's good, and when he struggles to free himself or just out of sheer frustration, it's believable. His character is also just... likable. We never find out what he's done to get himself in this predicament, but it sure is fun to watch him in it!
Our "villain" in this flick is played by Travis McMahon and he's also a likable guy - which makes the whole movie's premise interesting. I spent the whole movie thinking he'd buried a dead guy in the desert in the beginning of the film, but he hadn't. He buried a gas can and moved Eli from the trunk to the backseat.
Overall, had some slow parts... but I liked it. - DirectorFabrice du WelzStarsLaurent LucasBrigitte LahaieGigi CoursignyMarc, a traveling entertainer, is on his way home for Christmas when his van breaks down in the middle of a jerkwater town with some strange inhabitants. What a weird movie this is. Laurent Lucas is our whumpee in this film, and while it takes awhile to get going, he sure does get whumped. He gets knocked out, put in women's clothing, tied up, shaved (half of his head), chased through the woods, caught in a trap, crucified, and ultimately raped. NOT a good time for the poor guy. Unfortunately, his character, while a delight to watch in the first half of the film, seems to devolve into a useless lump of sobbing and wailing in the second half of the film. Yes, we get that he's suffering... but it's almost like the actual CHARACTER of "Marc Stevens" got demoted from a cohesive human being into a piece of set dressing intended to illustrate how wild and crazy the motley crew of assorted villains in this film were.
Simply put, the ominous tone and slow burn of the first half of the film was absolutely excellent, keeping me on the edge of my seat for when things would go South and just who would be the villains and who might be "safe", and just what our poor, likable hero was going to be in for... but then it all too quickly devolved into some kind of literal freak show. It would've been better (as a film and as whump) if it had focused on the crazy innkeeper and his crazy son and their victim's plight and struggle for survival... instead of suspending all belief by throwing in a crazy tribe of zombie-dancing pig-screwing hillbilly lunatics who just so happen to have the same darn motivations and delusions as the first set of bad guys. But I guess that's why this film gets more comparisons to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and less to films like, say, Misery. I mean, it is what it aims to be, I guess. I mean, it makes sense that for every person who wants to see a victim's perilous adventures and struggle for survival, there'd be somebody else who just wants to watch some seriously weird people doing massively messed up things. - DirectorRyan PhillippeStarsRyan PhillippeIan BarfordStephen Louis GrushA fading Hollywood pretty-boy gets taken and brutalized in Louisiana by two local men with his total ruination at heart.Ryan Phillippe does a great job getting whumped in this one. He struggles, he squirms, he's equal parts scared and strong in all the right spots... Definitely a whumpy delight. He spends almost the whole movie chained in one way or another, gets beaten a bunch, has his hand mangled, gets knocked out a couple times... and almost gets raped.
The villains are excellent in this film. Stephen Louis Grush is brilliant, being the simple-minded sidekick to the main villain, and being unpredictable and strangely likable. His 'I just have to wait a few minutes' exchange with his captive is downright chilling. Ian Barford is great as the angry and violent man in charge. You really feel like he's a powder keg ready to go off and is capable of just about anything. Oh, and there's some crocodiles, too. Gotta represent for the crocs. - DirectorDavid Field and George BashaGeorge BashaDavid FieldStarsGeorge BashaRichard GreenBrian EllisonSent to prison because of manslaughter, Ray is challenged both physically and mentally by a sadistic prison boss.Hmm. This one's a prison movie and, as such, you kinda know what you're in for when you pop one of these in your player. Our whumpee here is George Basha, who is also the writer and director of the film. He does a decent job of suffering for the cameras... but overall, even though there's a lot of whump throughout this film, it's not enjoyable whump. For one thing, I just didn't find myself caring enough about the character of Ray to really FEEL invested in the whump he suffered. But the most important thing is that the whump is all done in a "glossed over" way. The danger is implied, then the camera focuses elsewhere... and we're left knowing he was beaten or given a swirly or even sodomized... but we were never SHOWN any of these things actually happening. It leaves you with a strange feeling of having just witnessed a lot of whump... but at the same time, not having seen a darn thing. Strange. However, for those who enjoy whump but shy away from gratuitous violence or gore, this movie might be a unique pleasure.
The actors portraying the villains of this film do a great job with their roles, I have to say - particularly David Field as the warden and Brian Ellison as the head guard. GEEZ! They do an A+ job of making you just REALLY hate these guys.
So overall... Don't watch it for the whump, but go for it if you like prison flicks and/or love watching frustratingly hateful bad guys. - DirectorGuy Norman BeeStarsMandy PatinkinThomas GibsonPaget BrewsterReid has been kidnapped, and the BAU's only things to profile are a house, a computer, and the live feed the kidnapper is sending to them.
- DirectorThomas GibsonStarsJoe MantegnaShemar MooreMatthew Gray GublerThe BAU works against time to find Morgan after he is kidnapped. Danny Glover guest stars.Too often, men of color only get whumped in media when they star in a slavery movie or portray the victim of a hate crime. BOOOOO. I mean, those kinds of whump CAN still be enjoyable, but they also leave you with a foul aftertaste, because you just feel BAD for enjoying whump that's based on specific real life atrocities or actual social struggles. It's just an altogether different ballpark than, say, crazy ex-girlfriend stalks a guy and cooks the family rabbit in a stew.
Which is why this episode of Criminal Minds is EXTRA enjoyable to me. Shemar Moore is a gorgeous man, and he sells this whump here so beautifully... and it's just a kidnapping. It's just some solid whump. No guilt. No bitter aftertaste. Just good ol' whump. YES. He gets strapped to a bondage cross and tortured... and also gets nailed to a table with a knife. Lots of suffering and trauma, complete with some hazy flashback/dream sequences that I could've done without, really.
He's got a few assailants in this, but none of them really stand out to me to be lauded for either good OR bad performances. They do their jobs playing henchmen well, not pulling focus either way. - 2000–20151h 25mTV-148.5 (3.1K)TV EpisodeDirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsWilliam PetersenMarg HelgenbergerGary DourdanWhile investigating a case, Nick is abducted and is buried alive in a special coffin while his team takes unorthodox steps to try to find him.

- DirectorAte de JongStarsEdward AkroutMatt BarberMegan MaczkoA stranger breaks into the house of a couple, ties up the husband and, having a whole weekend at his hand, plays a slow game with the woman, a game of threats, fear, obedience - and intimacy. This is a great film that I really enjoyed, but it's a hard one to judge from a whump standpoint. True, the husband (played by Matt Barber) is tied up, in peril, bloody and whumped through the entire film, making it a 100% fit for this list, but the problem is that his character is... not remotely likable in the least. Mind you, I can still enjoy whump of "bad" guys (see "Hard Candy"), but I like my whumpees to show strength and desperation - whereas this one just comes off as weak and belligerent. This isn't a criticism of Mr. Barber's acting, however - as the very things I dislike about his character's reactions to the peril he's in are absolutely fitting for the things we learn about the character throughout the film. He comes off as weak and belligerent because he IS those things. Still, it does make the scenes less enjoyable for those of us who like watching men get whumped ;) In short, I recommend the film, but maybe not for the whump.
Our villain in this movie is a piece of work. Equal parts terrifying and personable, it's hard to pin down how we're supposed to feel about him, let alone how we actually DO feel about him. As the movie progresses and more things come to light, it gets even more confusing. He's found by Dorothy hanging shirtless from a cross, covered in blood and straw and delicious wounds. She helps him down, and he's so weak he can't even lift his head to drink without her help. Lovely. The expressions and sounds he makes in these scenes are absolutely heavenly. If they gave awards for whumpy acting, Oliver Jackson-Cohen would surely have earned one with this episode alone.
As if that's not all enough, Lucas and Dorothy end up in the "Prison of the Abject" briefly, which seems to be an elaborate magical thing... that basically means they writhe around on the ground in lots and lots of pain. Sounds good to me! - DirectorTarsem SinghStarsAdria ArjonaOliver Jackson-CohenAna UlaruWhile trying to find a way home, Dorothy meets an amnesiac wounded soldier and a young man trying to free his best friend from a mysterious woman. After a great premiere episode full of whump, this series delivered an equally impressive bunch of greatness in its second episode - which presented a still very weak Lucas suffering from wounds that eventually make him pass out. He's then bed-ridden with a healer looking after his wounds... who actually ends up poisoning him. He nearly dies again, but is saved by Dorothy and some fast-thinking nursing tricks from her.

There's some magic mumbo jumbo involved, but for our purposes... Well, he sure does look great in that chair. And he looks even better begging Dorothy not to risk her own well-being for him. She doesn't listen, of course, but gotta love that angst!
- DirectorIan Hunt-DuffyStarsTommy O'NeillColin O'DonoghueMichael BatesA black comedy about a man struggling to make a living by helping people kill themselves. This short film has Colin O'Donoghue (a personal favorite of mine) playing a suicidal young man who ends up hiring someone to help him get the deed done. If you're triggered by the subject of suicide, skip on to the next entry now, but if you don't mind it... This film delivers some good angst, multiple attempts at hanging himself, some fighting and some great peril at gunpoint. Not a bad way to spend 13 minutes, really.
A lot of the whump is self-inflicted, but Tommy O'Neill does a lovely job as the Euthanizer himself, although he reminds me so much of someone who I just can't quite put my finger on... YoungStarsFarrah FawcettJames RussoAlfre WoodardA woman takes revenge on the man who invades her home and tries to rape her. This is a tough film to decide on, as far as including it on this list or not. Technically, it belongs here, as James Russo spends half of the movie tied up, blinded, bleeding and caged up - and this is a major plot point in the overall synopsis of the film. However, despite all of this, the film definitely feels more like a "woman in peril" film. The entire first half is Farrah Fawcett's character being attacked and terrorized in graphic, gratuitous detail. When the second half of the film rolls around and it's finally time for her would-be rapist to get his comeuppance... it falls flat compared to the attention to detail the first half of the movie showed. She pretty much sprays him with hornet spray to blind him, then ties him and cages him up in her fireplace... and then spends the next 45 minutes bickering with her roommates over what they should do with him.
It's not a bad movie by any means, and it does technically deliver a whumped guy for half a film... but it's not recommended solely for whump. - DirectorAdam DonaldZaeh DonaldAndrew ZaehStarsPatrick StumpPete WentzJoe TrohmanThe members of Fall Out Boy undergo a series of events playing and singing music from their Save Rock and Roll album. This film is comprised of the music videos for all of the songs on Fall Out Boy's "Save Rock and Roll" album. It starts with the video for "The Phoenix", which sees all of the band members getting kidnapped - via taser, chloroform, or other means. The lead singer gets tied to a chair, maimed, strapped to a gurney, and tortured with medical instruments. It then segues to "Young Volcanoes", which sees the band tied to chairs at a twisted dinner table, where they're blindfolded (except the lead singer), hooked up to IVs and given wine, some hits from a hookah, and some rainbow colored drugs to snort. They're then fed a hearty meal, after which they cavort with their captors in wild abandon before ending the video tied to chairs once again. The next one's "Alone Together" and is mostly the band members struggling in straitjackets, while the lead singer is strapped to a chair for some electrotorture. The next video doesn't show the band at all, but after that one, there's "The Mighty Fall" - which sees the band escaping from a burning van, then getting chased down and beaten by a gang of kids. Oh, and Big Sean gets straight-up murdered. Then there's "Just One Yesterday" which sees the band staggering around, bloody and beaten... followed by "Where Did the Party Go" where the now-possessed lead singer chases them all through a hospital and eventually kills one of them. "Death Valley" gives us the frontman in shackles, chains and a prison cell. "Rat-a-tat" then sees him strapped to a chair once again, forced to watch brainwashing videos. One of the remaining band members also gets his throat slashed, adding to the body count. "Miss Missing You" sees a totally random dude on a chain leash for some reason, then a brawl between the frontman and the only remaining band member... with them both ending up dead in the dirt. The final video is "Save Rock and Roll" and there's a lot of white clothes and glowing and Elton John... and eventually a total blood bath. Kinda literally, for Sir Elton.
Overall, this is a fun way to spend a little under an hour, if you like whump and rock 'n' roll. - DirectorNathan HillStarsCandice DayNaomi DavisSash MilneFive girls kidnap a serial rapist... to seek revenge.Absolute crap. Pretty much unwatchable. Technically, there's two different whumpees in this film. The first one gets castrated and bleeds to death, while the second gets tortured. However, you have to basically go by what the female characters SAY they've done to the guys, because the camera just bounces from one of their faces to another one of their faces and occasionally to other things that are, more often than not, the floor or a refrigerator or... stuff so dark and grainy it could be Disneyland for all I can tell. I honestly don't even know who WOULD enjoy this film. I guess people who like extreme close ups on Australian women's faces that look like they were filmed on a cell phone in 2003. Terrible.
- DirectorPhilippe GagnonStarsMackenzie MauzyJacob BlairKelly KrugerA bachelorette party turns into a dangerous game for the bride-to-be as the traumatic past she thought she left behind catches up with her.I have mixed feelings about this film. On the one hand, we have a man in peril throughout almost the entire film. He's kidnapped, tied up, gagged, gets a finger cut off, is driven to tears, gets a bit bloody in an escape attempt, and ultimately ends up knocked out and a little more bloody due to whump we don't even get to see. I mean, don't get me wrong - I'm not at all complaining about any of that, but I would've liked to have seen a LOT more of it.
The problem is that the film focuses FAR more on the peril, wounds and suffering of the FEMALE characters, making this film more likely to satisfy those looking for women-in-peril films than men-in-peril ones. However, that said, the synopsis makes it pretty clear that the focus will be more on the women and their plight than on the kidnapped fiance, so I can't really say the film was deceptive or that my disappointment was warranted. I mean, I WAS disappointed, but because I watched without reading the synopsis first and the first 20 minutes provided whump and man-in-peril fun that the rest of the film didn't maintain.
Acting-wise, Jacob Blair did a great job as the conflicted psycho. I thought he managed to bring some really interesting emotions to the role in the last 20 minutes or so that were quite impressive. Cody Ray Thompson did well enough as the kidnapped fiance, though he mostly just spent the whole movie tied to a chair and gagged. Usually, I'd cheer for that kind of performance, but aside from a few brief moments, there really wasn't as much reaction or defiance as I like to see in my whumpees. I wanted to see more struggling. More fear. More anger. More emotion. - DirectorNigel DickStarsGuns N' RosesSteven AdlerDuff McKaganA music video for Guns N' Roses's song 'Welcome to the Jungle'.The length of the content in this music video isn't what lands it on this list, as it's only one short segment and a few flashes throughout the video, but the theme of the entire video is that of an innocent country boy coming to the big city and being indoctrinated into the culture of sex, drugs and violence. This is visually depicted as frontman Axl Rose being straitjacketed and bound to a chair, forced to watch videos of scandals, war and depravity on multiple televisions. Definitely a whumpy premise - and what little we DO get to see of Axl in this position is well worth watching the video for.

No injuries to speak of (unless you count a CGI scene of his face having been removed), but there's lots of kinky bondage and even a ball gag in play here - which, given the shortness of the medium and the amount of times he's shown tied and/or gagged... makes it a solid addition to this list.

His plight, defiance, fear and emotional responses are all totally believable and delightful to watch from a whump standpoint. The fact that his character is an absolute scumbag kind of detracts from the enjoyment a bit, as we whumpers are used to LIKING the men we enjoy seeing whumped, but it's still enjoyable - particularly the castration scene.

Robert Wilcox does a stellar job of expressing pain and vulnerability while still remaining a strong, capable leading man. Lovely!
Peter Lorre is a good villain, though he doesn't do any of the whumping himself. Still, he's nice and creepy and evil and all that good stuff. For one thing, the dialogue they give him is absolutely atrocious - repetitive and not remotely believable. But I also feel like Keanu's overall demeanor is all wrong. I think this is still down to the writing, as his character's responses to being in peril seem at odds with everything else we're shown and told about this mild-mannered husband and father. In the final scenes, when the ridiculous bravado is exhausted and he's finally begging, pleading and crying... only then does it really feel authentic. I feel like the writers opted to go for "stereotypical machismo in the face of trouble" for most of this film, instead of actually exploring what THIS character would react like in THIS scenario. It's LAZY.
The villains in this film, two young women, are more annoying than anything else, really. The actresses both do a splendid job of being intimidating, but the writing has them doing too many annoying (and not even remotely sensible) things overall and it eclipses the intimidation factor. For example, their systematic destruction of the childrens' belongings and the wife's artwork seem completely unnecessary and contrary to their alleged goal of exposing Ethan for the cheating scum he is. - DirectorMichael HurstStarsCraig HornerBridget ReganBruce SpenceGeneral Demmin Nass brings Darken Rahl' s new orders: the seeker must not be killed but captured and enslaved. When Kahlan arrives, Richard is despairing whether he can keep resisting and pretending to be nearly tame.Okay, so the Mord-Sith are basically dominatrixes in leather catsuits with these wands that deliver agonizing pain, and they capture the lead male character of this show, played by Craig Horner, imprison him in a dungeon with chains and all that nice stuff, and then torture him repeatedly and methodically to try to make him a slave to a specific Mord-Sith woman named Denna. Who is played by Jessica Marais and is super hot.
All of this is brilliantly acted, deliciously sexy and gorgeously whumpy. This is some of the best outright kinky whump to EVER be broadcast on television and I will be forever grateful for it.
Jessica Marais is epic, as before, as the Mord-Sith woman tasked with torturing our hero in totally unapologetically sexy ways. I think she deserves her own show. The character of Zeke Landon (played by Matt Long) is introduced to the show - and he's a guy who got trapped in a cave in the mountains, was presumed dead, and emerged about a year later - much like how Flight 828 suddenly reappeared five years later.
Zeke literally stumbles into the main characters' lives... and promptly passes out in front of them, nearly dead from hypothermia. This episode deals with them treating his frostbite and trying to warm him up - which is, of course, delightful fun for us whumpers! Matt Long wears it all VERY well, and immediately charmed THIS whumper with his vulnerability and epic pain faces. Nice! The premise is believable, the peril is intense but without needing gore or cheap scares, the plot moves along at a quick pace, and James Caan gives a great performance full of pain, fear, desperation, bravery and ALL the things we like. Kathy Bates is absolutely resplendent as our villain in this movie. She plays the batsh*t crazy Annie Wilkes to perfection, teetering between a sweet, loving romantic-at-heart and an absolute psycho. Totally an unforgettable performance.

The idea is of a young man kidnapped and forced to watch Nine Inch Nails videos. As such, it's basically the videos for "Pinion" (a clip of a trip down a toilet drain to the poor fellow in a gimp suit at the bottom, drowning), "Wish" (a video of the band performing before a crazed audience of men behind bars, caught in nets, and even in a giant birdcage and a gibbet - who all eventually turn on the band themselves), "Help Me I Am in Hell" (short clip with lots of bugs and a fellow in pony fetish gear, complete with a bridle with a bit gag and blinders), "Happiness in Slavery" (a video of masochist performance artist Bob Flanagan (aided with some CGI) being tortured, mangled, eviscerated, disemboweled and ground up in a chair-like torture device), and "Gave Up" which appears to be the culmination of the kidnapped guy and his kidnapper's tale.
As for that kidnapped young man, he's shown in sparse flashes throughout the videos and in longer clips between them, and is shown bound in various ways and tortured by his kidnapper. He's force fed gasoline, raped (this is alluded to by the kidnapper doing up his pants, but not shown), and has teeth pulled, all before the final "Gave Up" segment. In this final part, he has his clothes violently cut off (getting slashed in the process), then gets beaten, castrated, cut up with a chainsaw, raped again (visibly this time), stabbed and eaten. This is all interspersed with some really grotesque shots of body parts in freezers and just... gross, gross stuff.
Ultimately, this short film is a mixed bag of sorts. The "Pinion", "Wish" and "Help Me..." segments are actually quite mild and enjoyable, but I suspect most bondage and whump enthusiasts will find themselves growing uncomfortable at some point during the "Happiness in Slavery" portion - and they should definitely check out as soon as that happens and not look back, because it's only downhill from there, my friends. This is not the kind of content you look away from for a moment and come back to. It just gets worse and worse. - DirectorJoe C. MaxwellStarsC. Thomas HowellSavannah Smith BoucherDavid ParkerA young man is held captive by a sadistic nurse.Hmm. Well, I had extremely high hopes for this film, I'll admit - and it definitely did not meet them. C. Thomas Howell is our whumpee here, and he does a good job at it. He's also in peril for just about the entire film, which is what lands this movie safely on this list. There's also some nice bondage, with him tied to a chair and chained to a bed several times. At one point, he also has his mouth taped. None of that is the problem here.
The problem is that the actual whump delivered to the male lead isn't that great. There's some meager medical-themed things (injections, paralyzing drugs, bandages used for psychological torment) and some electroshock torture, but most of it is very short-lived and not very satisfying from a whump standpoint. Thanks to a shallow cut in the neck delivered near the end of the movie, he does spend the big climax looking nice and bloody, though. So that's always nice.
But the most disappointing thing about this movie is that some great whump is wasted on (and this is a whole new one for me) little old ladies. I'm not kidding. The villainess runs a nursing home for old ladies (whom she abuses, of course), and we see or hear about her taunting them, starving them, burning them, hitting them, locking them in punishment closets, sewing their mouths shut, cutting their tongues out, tying them to beds, making them mess themselves, terrorizing them in general, and straight up murdering them. GEEZ. If I was into little old lady whump, this would be a goldmine right here, but who the hell is into little old lady whump?!?! Seriously now. This is taking my whole "lured you in for male whump and delivered female whump instead" pet peeve to a whole new (and disturbing) level. - DirectorBilly GierhartStarsGinnifer GoodwinJennifer MorrisonLana ParrillaThe heroes join forces with an old friend of Snow's to defeat an obstacle standing in the way of finding Hook. Not only is he trapped in a dungeon, he's also covered in blood and wounds from torturous beatings Hades has been delivering since Hook's death a couple episodes earlier. We aren't lucky enough to SEE the torture, mind you, but Colin O'Donoghue looks divine throughout this entire episode, wounded and bloody and making the most delicious pained and/or angsty faces imaginable.

One touch from that river and his soul will be obliterated, so Emma better hurry.
As in the previous episode, Colin O'Donoghue is resplendent as our man in peril here, looking delicious covered in blood and wounds - and turning in an epic performance of pain, angst and not-always restrained fear that is mesmerizing to watch. I can't really give too many details beyond that, for fear of spoiling some of the best parts of the film, plot-wise.
David Hyde Pierce is ridiculously fun to watch, as he dances and schmoozes and congas and breaches like the most beautifully awkward whale you've ever seen. However, I've decided to add this show as one of my rare "just watch the whole darn series" recommendations.
The series focuses on Malcolm Bright (played by Tom Payne), who is the troubled son of a prolific serial killer (played perfectly by Michael Sheen). Malcolm suffers from PTSD from his traumatic childhood, and lives with the fear that some aspect of his father's murderous genius lives on in him (hence the show's title) - but he's channeled his analytical mind and killer's instinct into a career as a profiler consulting with the NYPD.
Between Malcolm's mental illness, night terrors, impulsiveness, and barely concealed lack of care for his own physical well-being... Well, the guy gets whumped in almost every single blessed episode. The first season isn't even over, and we've already seen him get kidnapped, stabbed, impaled on a sword, blown out a window, electroshocked, tied up, drugged, and probably some other things I've forgotten.
And did I mention that he sleeps in heavy duty bondage restraints every night, due to night terrors that cause him to physically lash out? And we SEE this? Multiple times? And another character even helps him put them on in one episode? Niiiiiiiiice. It's like when you have a huge plate FULL of birthday cake and realize there's no room for ice cream, and then someone's like "Here, have another plate for your ice cream" and it's like THAT'S JUST WHAT I NEEDED, THANK YOU.

Malcolm's been abducted by a serial killer that has ties to Malcolm's own serial killer father... and it's GLORIOUS. He wakes up in some sort of dark cellar, in chains - and it all goes horribly downhill for him from there. He's got a bloody head wound from his abduction, then gets stabbed in the gut and left to bleed out. Hallucinations plague him, and when his captor finally returns, Malcolm's desperate attempts to psychoanalyze him and gain the upper hand somehow ultimately fail. Finally, the killer announces he's off to murder Malcolm's entire family (well, minus the imprisoned serial-killing dad ;)) while Malcolm remains helplessly chained in the basement. The lengths Malcolm goes to to free himself and protect his family are ELECTRIFYING to watch, and I still get a shiver of delight picturing Malcolm staggering barefoot, bloodied and broken, carrying a crowbar and shouting out the killer's name.
Tom Payne's acting in this is BRILLIANT as Malcolm oscillates between pain, fear, sheer desperation... and finally, fury. This one is definitely a whumpy episode for the ages. - DirectorKaren ArthurStarsRichard CrennaMeredith BaxterPat HingleSeattle veteran cop Richard Beck becomes a sexual assault victim and must deal with the painful aftermath. This is a made-for-TV movie from the 80's that realistically portrays the struggles victims of rape go through after the assault's over. Richard Crenna does a great job, both in the initial rape scene and with the delicate scenes throughout the rest of the movie that deal with his character's emotional trauma.

- StarsAarón DíazAna Lorena SánchezKimberly Dos RamosThis Spanish telenovella had a story arc that ran for several episodes (roughly episodes 120-130 or so) where one of the main male leads (Arturo, played by Aaron Diaz) was abducted by some farmhands working for a rival family's farm, on behalf of a young lady who is rather unhealthily obsessed with the kidnapped male lead. Yeah, it's a bit confusing (especially if you only watch the whump 120+ episodes into the show ;)), but it's a soap opera, so that's to be expected.
At any rate, there is some sizzling hot bondage and whump right here. Poor Arturo gets abducted, tied up, escapes, gets stun gunned, then wakes up blindfolded and tied to a pole in a shack. Then he gets shot, almost dies, gets some first aid, and gets tied down to a table. There's a lot of fine squirming in those ropes, my friends. Niiice. His adventures continue, as his wound is treated some more, he's teased and taunted by the sexy lady responsible for his abduction, and then he escapes! And gets caught! And gets chained to a post and whipped! And then back to the table, with chains now, and there's more wound tending and some watery tormenting and some fevery moaning. Then he's chained back to the post again, and he gets rescued by... I'm gonna be honest, I have NO idea who that lady is. Anyway, calling it a "rescue" is a bit premature, because the bad guys end up capturing HER, too. Then they literally hang the dude up from the ceiling, head down, and dunk him repeatedly in a vat of water. It's like we're playing Whump Bingo with poor Arturo here, and we're ALL winning. Then the bad guys leave him and the girl tied up in the shack and set it on fire. And there's lots of squirming and struggling and shouting and FIRE, because they didn't DO fire yet and how else would we fill up our bingo cards?? Arturo literally BURNS the ropes off of his wrists. Hardcore, man. Anyway, he gets out of the shack with whoever-she-is and they end up getting found by their family, who are searching for them in the nearby woods.

Although, that said, when it comes to gory whump, sometimes less is more - and the darkness and lack of clear visuals does make the torture scenes more palatable for those who are prone to having to look away (I confess, even with the darkness, I had to turn aside during the dream sequence of our whumpee getting literally disemboweled - ew).
Also, between the darkness and the over-zealous amount of blood on the chap's face, you literally couldn't see him at all, really. And for a whumper, that's not a good thing. What's the fun in watching a handsome man in peril if you can't see his face at all the best moments of vulnerability? Bondage lovers will probably enjoy some of the sights and sounds of the whumpee struggling against his restraints, but will probably end up feeling let down by the lack of facial responses, as well. As for actual whump, there's a car wreck that leaves both the male leads bloody, burns from a cigarette and from electricity, torturous injections, gas mask suffocation, some bludgeoning, and that disemboweling scene I mentioned earlier. Ew.
All that said, I did actually enjoy the film - not so much as a whump film, but more so for the overall storyline. The acting was good, and the story kept me hooked and left me thinking about the film even after I'd finished it. Ultimately, it's not the best whump film... but I liked it. - DirectorSteven DePaulStarsDennis HaysbertRegina TaylorRobert PatrickThe unit takes on a grueling exercise of torture and humiliation. There's some great whump in this episode of The Unit. The five members of the team (played by Dennis Haysbert, Scott Foley, Max Martini, Demore Barnes, and Michael Irby) are put through the paces for a SERE exercise simulating a POW situation. As such, they're stripped down, hosed off, locked in a cell, interrogated, beaten, and psychologically taunted by their "captors". On top of this, one of the soldiers (played by Scott Foley) went into the exercise already ill, and he gets severely beaten and hosed down, exacerbating his symptoms until he's practically on death's door. Yet the exercise continues. All around, some great whump, well-acted by all five men. Great episode!

I watch Lifetime Movies. I know, I know, they're not really great. The acting's kinda so-so, the plots are super predictable, and the whump is usually sub-par. But... I DO watch them. And so it happens that sometimes I find one that, for better or worse, belongs on this list. And The Wrong Husband is one of them.
Early on in the film, mild-mannered internet exec Derrick gets abducted by his evil twin (no, really) Alex, who intends to take over Derrick's life and steal all the money Derrick's wife is about to make when she sells her business. Or... some nonsense like that. Now, most Lifetime movies would focus entirely on the wife's plight from that point on, leaving it entirely unknown what's going on with the real husband the whole time. Well, this movie bucks that trend by interspersing the wife's story with scenes of the husband's plight.
So we get to SEE our hapless husband (played by Rick Cosnett) handcuffed to a bed in a shed somewhere, and we get to SEE the evil twin (also played by Rick Cosnett) taunt him repeatedly - and, thanks to some security cameras the bad twin has hacked into, we even get to watch as the husband helplessly watches his evil twin sleep with his unsuspecting wife. That's cold, man. Cold.
But that's not to say the whump is particularly GOOD. I mean, it's there, there's enough focus on it to warrant this film's inclusion here, and Rick Cosnett puts in a decent performance... but it's just that nothing particularly dastardly actually HAPPENS in these scenes. There's no beatings, no pain, no suffering... just a lot of anger and frustration.
And, you know, it's a Lifetime Movie. - DirectorPeter LiapisStarsWilliam R. MosesBarbara NivenNia PeeplesA jealous man tries to take his twin brothers wife, job and family.
