Dixie throws herself into work on the day of the funeral.Okay, so when we discovered that much-loved Paramedic Jeff Collier had unfortunately and shockingly died in a minibus explosion, we all knew his funeral would be tough to watch. But, this episode has to have been an all-time favourite for me, in all my time of watching Casualty. The episode was overwhelmingly emotional, right from the very beginning. The funeral was beautifully written and directed, and it's an episode I can still recall from the top of my head even to this day.
- RegistaSteve HughesStelleMatt BardockJane HazlegroveAmanda MealingDisaster strikes when Connie takes a number of staff from the ED on a day out.As I sat down and considered all the possible episodes, I was completely torn between "The Last Call" and "Born Lucky" taking my number one spot. But, I gave this episode second spot because, although we were left gobsmacked by Jeff's unforeseen death, I feel the funeral was much more emotional, and enabled us to reflect on Jeff and Dixie's relationship in greater depth and grieve for the Paramedic throughout the entire episode, whereas in this episode, we were bombarded with a death, and it may have just been me, but I didn't have time to come to terms with what had happened, it was virtually a blur!
- RegistaJulie EdwardsStelleDerek ThompsonSunetra SarkerWilliam BeckZoe and Max's wedding day arrives, but Zoe struggles with her emotions following her unfaithful act on Max the night before. They soon marry, but Dylan let's slip about Zoe cheating on Max - which leads to Zoe fleeing onto Dylan's boathouse and them getting away from the situation. A fight ensues in the wedding reception between Louie and Max, and when a heater is knocked over a fire starts. With the reception uncontrollably ablaze, embers from the reception fly over onto boathouse which Dylan and Zoe are in. The boathouse catches fire and Zoe and Dylan must jump into the river to save themselves - but Dylan forgets his lucky talisman and runs back for it. Zoe is in the water right next to the boat, but the weight of her dress holds her under, drowning her. Seconds later and before Dylan can escape there's two massive explosions from the boathouse. In third place is Zoe and Max's dramatic wedding episode. The episode saw Zoe reveal to Dylan she had a one-night stand with a male stripper, and then marry Max. But, of course, this is Casualty, and in superb Casualty style we saw Dylan slip-up which lead to the brutal revelation of Zoe cheating on her new husband. With the revelation in the open, there was only one thing for it - Max getting drunk. Zoe fled her troubles and boarded Dylan's boathouse, demanding he gets her away from the mess she's gotten herself in. Max gets into a drunken fight with Louie, and soon the wedding venue is ablaze. Zoe and Dylan are bobbing down the lake, until embers from the venue reach the boathouse, setting the boathouse alight. Zoe jumps from the boat into the water, but Dylan runs downstairs to get his 'lucky talisman' (oh Dylan, what have you done?).There is then a mighty explosion from the boathouse, and with Dylan inside the boathouse and Zoe being held under by her wedding dress, we were left with possibly the biggest cliffhanger in thirty years of Casualty as to whether two of our favourite characters has survived...
- RegistaPaul UnwinStelleDerek ThompsonLee MeadAmanda MealingMore than one doctor's life is left hanging in the balance following the boat explosion. Duffy returns to the emergency department as an agency nurse. Louise fights to save a couple's child. One week on from the enormous cliffhanger and we found ourselves celebrating episode one of Casualty's thirtieth series. This episode was thrilling, intensive and hugely successful. We saw the return of Duffy, which was beautiful, but we also saw beloved nurse Charlie Fairhead suffer a huge heart attack, they say bad things come in three, don't they? Well, that's Zoe Hanna, Dylan Keogh and Charlie Fairhead who all suffered an unfortunate event! (Fortunately for Connie Beauchamp fans - she was okay!)
- RegistaPaul UnwinStelleDerek ThompsonLee MeadAmanda MealingConnie fights to save Charlie's life. Duffy inspires Louise to become a nurse. Gang violence spills through the hospital doors, endangering more lives.Another emotionally driven episode by Casualty, which saw Connie determined to save Charlie Fairhead. This episode used the original title sequence and theme tune, which I think gave us all a tear in our eye, as we reflected on the past thirty hugely successful series. We were also given a bonus ten minutes of Casualty - what more could you ask for?!
- RegistaLee Haven JonesStelleAmanda MealingSunetra SarkerPatrick RobinsonNew Consultant Connie Beauchamp is faced with a big situation on her first day on the ED, elsewhere Ash takes his wayward daughter back in hand. This episode had to be in the top ten. Why? Because Connie Beauchamp made an entrance! Since Connie has arrived in the Emergency Department she's been on an emotional roller coaster, from losing her daughter to becoming Clinical Lead. This episode saw Connie strut through the doors on her first day and leave again, to go and save a man with the paramedics. Oh, Connie, my sweetheart superhero, where would we be without you by our sides?
