Funny, a great charming story and beautifully animated. An all-time classic!
- DirectorHayao MiyazakiStarsDaveigh ChaseSuzanne PleshetteMiyu IrinoDuring her family's move to the suburbs, a sullen 10-year-old girl wanders into a world ruled by gods, witches and spirits, and where humans are changed into beasts.Spirited Away is not an easy Ghibli to begin with, but most certainly one of the best. I've watched this movie several times. it's
enchanting and impressively crafted. Miyazaki has created a wonderfully surreal world filled with magical characters. - DirectorTravis KnightStarsCharlize TheronArt ParkinsonMatthew McConaugheyA young boy named Kubo must locate a magical suit of armour worn by his late father in order to defeat a vengeful spirit from the past.Kubo and the Two Strings is an epic, mythical adventure that is willing to go into deep themes and dark imagery. The movie combines CGI and stop-motion animations. The result is very creative, out-of-the box and stylish. Kubo is truly a piece of art and might be the best thing Laika brought us.
- DirectorKatsuhiro ÔtomoStarsMitsuo IwataNozomu SasakiMami KoyamaA secret military project endangers Neo-Tokyo when it turns a biker gang member into a rampaging psychic psychopath who can only be stopped by a teenager, his gang of biker friends and a group of psychics.A very violent sci-fi anime with a brain-twisting story. Akira still holds up with the best of them,
- DirectorDon BluthStarsElizabeth HartmanDerek JacobiDom DeLuiseTo save her ill son, a field mouse must seek the aid of a colony of rats, with whom she has a deeper link than she suspected.Don Bluth's first animated feature movie is by far his best entry to genre! - DirectorAdam ElliotStarsToni CollettePhilip Seymour HoffmanEric BanaIn 1976 Melbourne, a lonely 8-year-old girl strikes up a correspondence with an unlikely pen pal: a severely obese 44-year-old New Yorker with Asperger's syndrome.A bit odd, smart, unique ánd one of the best stop-motion animated film ever made (in my opinion). A great tale about two outsiders and their unconventional friendship.
- DirectorIsao TakahataStarsChloë Grace MoretzJames CaanMary SteenburgenKaguya is a beautiful young woman coveted by five nobles. To try to avoid marrying a stranger she doesn't love, she sends her suitors on seemingly impossible tasks. But she will have to face her fate and punishment for her choices.Wow.... just wow! For now the best Ghibli movie in my opinion. The beautiful hand- drawn (pencils and watercolours?) animations are breathtaking while the story is heart wrenching. Takahata is a miracle worker.
- DirectorSylvain ChometStarsMichèle CaucheteuxJean-Claude DondaMichel RobinWhen her grandson is kidnapped during the Tour de France, Madame Souza and her beloved pooch Bruno team up with the Belleville Sisters--an aged song-and-dance team from the days of Fred Astaire--to rescue him.Another great French movie. This epic story of man versus nature includes a lot of action and complex characters.
- DirectorsStéphane AubierVincent PatarBenjamin RennerStarsLambert WilsonPauline BrunnerAnne-Marie LoopThe story of an unlikely friendship between a bear, Ernest, and a young mouse named Celestine.a sweet story about an unlikely friendship between a mouse and a bear. The traditional hand-drawn animation in soft tones is a real treat.

Perhaps a bit to violent and bloody for young children.
- DirectorWes AndersonStarsGeorge ClooneyMeryl StreepBill MurrayAn urbane fox cannot resist returning to his farm raiding ways and then must help his community survive the farmers' retaliation. This stop-motion animation is based on a children's novel by Roald Dahl. It's funny and smart and the voices (by Clooney, Streep, Schwartzman, Murray) are great.

- DirectorAlê AbreuStarsVinicius GarciaMarco Aurélio CamposLu HortaA little boy goes on an adventurous quest in search of his father.Boy and the World may seem as a simple animated movie, but it doesn't take long to discover it's a colorful, stylish, complex, handcrafted Brazilian animated adventure.
The movie is without dialog, but it doesn't need any words to tell it's beautiful story of a boy traveling to the city to find his father and reunite his family.
Boy and the world manages to capture the wonder and uncertainty of childhood while dealing with heavy themes as industrialisation, urbanisation and social inequality.
I urge everybody to watch it! This is a must-see for children and adults. - DirectorHayao MiyazakiStarsSumi ShimamotoMahito TsujimuraHisako KyôdaWarrior and pacifist Princess Nausicaä desperately struggles to prevent two warring nations from destroying themselves and their dying planet.Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind is a beautifully animated film with detailed backgrounds and fluid motion. - DirectorDon BluthStarsDom DeLuiseChristopher PlummerErica YohnWhile emigrating to the United States, a young Russian mouse gets separated from his family and must locate them while trying to survive in a new country. In my opinion underrated, but I guess this is one of my childhood favourites. I watched this over and over again and still love it. Bluth's Disney-like (and that's not a bad thing IMO) animations are a real treat, but a bit dark.
Not every song is as good as the main song; "Somewhere out there" but their still enjoyable. The story, perhaps inspired bij Art Spiegelman's MAUS, about a Russian Jewish mouse family that seek new live in New York is really moving. A must-watch for every kid and adult. - DirectorHenry SelickStarsDakota FanningTeri HatcherJohn HodgmanWandering her rambling old house in her boring new town, a young girl discovers a hidden door to a strangely idealized version of her life that seems too good to be true.a great stop-motion animation about a girl who finds a secret doorway to another world. An exciting, funny and sad story about a bear and his pet-dragon.
