Umesh Vinayak Kulkarni is an alumnus of the Film and Television Institute of India and is one of the most important contemporary voices in Indian cinema. 1) Gosht Choti Dongraevadhi (2009) Cast: Nilu Phule, Nagesh Bhosle, Sayaji Shinde, & Makrand Anaspure. Producer: Pentagon Productions Pvt Ltd Genre : Drama Based on true incidents, the film is about what happened when the government in India declared a compensation of 100,000 rupees to the families of the drought ridden farmers who have committed suicide. Nandu (Nagesh Bhosle) is a heavily indebted farmer. Rajaram(Makrand Anaspure), Nandu's best friend, comes back to the village to earn a living. After Nandu commits suicide as a last means to achieve money, Rajaram kidnaps the agricultural minister (Sayaji Shinde) and takes him to the village to teach him a lesson.
2) Gallit Gondhal Dillit Mujra (2009) Cast: Nagesh Bhosle, Sayaji Shinde, Makrand Anaspure. Producer: Pentagon Production Pvt Ltd Genre: Comedy Kolsewadi has never seen any progress in the village, thanks to the bickering and fights? Between MLA Chandrakant Tope and Sarpanch Bajirao Dole. Narayan Wagh, a villager, makes the most of this to his advantage. He manages to coax the villagers and enters the electoral fray to fight the upcoming village elections. He gets help in the way of Rebecca who has come from America to study Maharashtra Folk Art and Dance. He convinces her to study the Lauvni (a Marathi Folk Dance) and perform for him at his political rally.
3) Adgul Madgul (2011) Cast: Subodh Bhave, Girija Oak, Smita Talwalkar, Uday Tikekar, Anita Date & Nagesh Bhosle, Producer: Sri Sankalp Film Production Genre: Comedy Anuja is married to Shaunak and lives with his big joint family of brahmins. When she gives birth to an extremely dark skinned child, the big happy family turns into an investigating bunch of people trying to prove whether Anuja has committed infidelity or not. The film is full of hilarious twists and turns while everyone in the family is losing their minds and acting like racist fanatics, only Anuja remains sane to prove her innocence. This film is literally a 'dark' comedy.

5) Nati Khel (Releasing in 2017) Cast: Milind Shinde, Umesh Jagtap, Radha Kulkarni & Nagesh Bhosle. Producer: Ajna Motion Picture Pvt Ltd Duration: 99 minutes Genre: Drama Sadba and Parvi are chosen by the temple rituals to be the prime married couple to sit by the grand prayers adoring the Goddess. Sadba learns that, Parvi, is having an affair with his younger brother Mallappa. After the three of them narrate and explain each of their stories, the Panchayat (village council) gives an unusual verdict, One that surprises everybody whereby Parvi must marry the second brother, and live the life of a woman with two husbands. A majority of people oppose this marriage while turning a blind eye towards men with multiple wives. Will an orthodox patriarchal society approve of Parvi having two husbands?

The film is based Rajan Khan's novel, 'Sanchar'. Four siblings from the busy city of Pune go to visit their uncle at a village called Mahagaon after receiving a text from their aunt saying that he is getting possessed by the spirit of Nyamat Shah Baba the Fakir. Full of religious extremism and dark humor revolving around Hindu and Muslim superstitions in India, this film makes you wonder why the educated city people have more orthodox views towards the religions of others and why do the people living in villages show more modern towards religious tolerance.- Director

Ravi Jadhav, one of the most influential filmmakers in the Marathi film industry was born and brought up in Mumbai. His artistic knowledge comes from his years in Sir JJ School Of Applied Art where he studied graphic design and visual communications. He was associated with FCB Ulka as a creative director and displayed exceptional creative skills in his clutter breaking advertising work.
His first venture into filmmaking, 'Natrang' was a success and went on to receive many awards including the National Award for best Marathi film and was received well in film festivals around the globe. Mahesh Kothare is an Indian actor, film director and producer of Marathi and Hindi films. He has worked in Indian cinema from a young age and acted in well-known movies such as Raja Aur Runk, Chhota Bhai, Mere Laal, and Ghar Ghar ki Kahani. The well known Hindi song Tu kitni achhi hai tu kitni bholi hai o maa from the film Raja Aur Runk features Kothare as Master Mahesh.
Considered a revolutionary figure in the Marathi film industry, he began his directorial career with the groundbreaking Dhumdhadaka (1985) and has since delivered many box office hits over a period of 20 years. Born as Mahesh Vaman Manjrekar, Mahesh Manjrekar is an Indian actor, film director, screenwriter, and producer who works primarily in Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, and Bhojpuri films. Manjrekar has acted in several films, including some of his productions. He studied at Don Bosco High School, Mumbai, and then completed his graduation from the University of Mumbai.
He wanted to become an actor since childhood and joined theatre in college. In 1994, he played a role in the Marathi play Aflatoon and has been a part of several other plays like All the best, Dhyanimani, etc.
In his film career span of 20 years, he has worked in 75 films and written and directed almost 25 films. Manjrekar made his acting debut in the Marathi movie Jeeva Sakha (1992), in which he plays the role of Inspector Jamdade. He was also seen in Kshitij Ye Nahi (1992), a Doordarshan Marathi series, where he got the part of a leprosy patient.
Manjrekar became famous with his directorial debut movie Vaastav: The Reality (1999). He also directed films like Nidaan (2000) and Jis Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hain (2000).
His performance in the movie Kaante (2002) as Raja "Balli" Yadav got him appreciation from the audience and his critics. He played the role of Sultan in the movie Plan (2004). In the same year, he worked in movies like Run (2004) as Ganpat Chowdhury and Musafir (2004) as Lukka.

Amol Palekar is a well-known theatre personality and an acclaimed Indian actor and filmmaker who mainly works in Hindi and Marathi cinema. He has acted in about 50 films in five languages and has directed several feature films and TV shows.
Palekar was born in a lower-middle-class family. His father was employed with the General Post Office, while his mother worked in a private company.
He completed his schooling at Bal Mohan Vidya Mandir in Mumbai. After clearing his SSC exams, he studied fine arts at Sir J. J. School of Art in Mumbai and graduated in 1965. He had to do several "odd jobs" to sustain himself during this period.
After graduation, he worked as a clerk with the Bank of India by day and pursued his passion for painting at night. In 1967, he held his first solo painting exhibition at the Taj Art Gallery. Around this time, he ventured into theatre and started doing stage shows. An opportunity to work in the movies soon followed, and Palekar switched to acting.
Palekar made his acting debut in Bajiraocha Beta (1971), a Marathi film directed by Raja Thakur.
His first Hindi film was Rajnigandha (1974), helmed by Basu Chatterjee. The film went on to become a sleeper hit.
In 1976, he acted in Basu Chatterjee's romantic comedy Chhoti Si Baat (1976). This low-budget coming-of-age film turned out to be a box office hit.
In the same year, he acted in the romantic musical film Chitchor (1976), once again directed by Basu Chatterjee. It marked Palekar's third association with the director. In 1979, Palekar acted in Hrishikesh Mukherjee's comedy film Gol Maal (1979). The story was about a middle-class man's quest to get a job. In this movie, he essayed the roles of Ram Prasad Sharma and Lakshman Prasad Sharma (Lucky), which became a big hit. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 1980 for Gol Maal.
He played the lead role in Baton Baton Mein (1979), directed by Basu Chatterjee, which was also released in 1979. The film revolves around the protagonist's struggle to get a girlfriend or wife, and it became a commercial and critical success.
In 1986, Palekar appeared in a leading role in the thriller Khamosh (1986), directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. Palekar portrayed a fictional version of himself in this movie.
He acted in the supernatural action thriller Aks (2001), helmed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, which starred Amitabh Bachchan, Raveena Tandon, and Manoj Bajpayee. The same year, Palekar married Chitra Palekar in 1969, and the couple divorced in 2001. Later that year, he married Sandhya Gokhale in 2001.

Dadasaaheb Phalke was born in 1870 in Trymbakeshwar in Nasik. He was born to a Sanskrit scholar, he studied at J.J. college of Art in Bombay and at Kala Bhavan, Baroda. He then studied architecture and became landscape painter of academic nature studies. He worked in a photographic studio and at Ratlam learned three-colour block making and ceramics. He then worked as a portrait photographer, stage make-up man, assistant to a German illusionist and as a magician! He was offered backing to start an Art Printing Press and his backers to acquaint him with the latest printing process arranged for him to go to Germany provided that he remain with the company. But by the time Phalke returned he knew that a printing career would not satisfy him. He raised loan from his friend and pledging his life insurance, Phalke went to England in 1912 to purchase the necessary equipment and acquaint himself with the technical aspects of filmmaking. When he returned from London he launched Raja Harishchandra about an honest king who for the sake of his principles sacrifices his kingdom and family before the gods impressed with his honesty restore him to his former glory and this movie was released in 1913. Later he produced Mohini Bhasmasur (1913),Satyavan Savitri (1914), Lanka Dahan (1917), Shri Krishna Janam (1918) and Kaliya Madan (1919). Due to changing tastes of movies and extreme commercialised atmosphere in film world, Phalke retired. Later in 1937 he produced Gangavataram (1937), but he had lost his magic. He died in Nasik, a forgotten man. But today he is considered as a pioneer of Indian cinema and a prestigious Indian film industry award is named after him.- Actor

Krishna Kondke was a famous Marathi actor and a film producer. He is popularly known as Dada Kondke. He was born on 8th august in the year 1932 in Naigaum, near Lalbaug,Mumbai(Village-Ingavali,Tal Bhor,Pune). He was one of the most renowned personalities in the Marathi film industry. He is an actor,director,lyricist,producer and a writer. His was married to Nalini Kondke,but later they got divorced. He was born in a middle class family owning a grocery shop and also owners of chawls in Morbaug area of mumbai.
Kondke was a tough kid who later took up a job in a local grocery retail chain called Apna Bazaar. Unfortunately, at an early Kondke lost his family due to some unfortunate events. And then Kondke started his entertainment career with a band and then worked as a stage actor. Kondke was involved in several cultural activities of Seva Dal which was a congress party volunteers organization. And then during that period he also met some Marathi stage personalities including Vasant Sabnis who was a famous Marathi writer. Later, Kondke started his own theatre company, and approached Sabnis to compose a drama script for him. Kondke acted in a drama named Vichha Majhi Puri Kara. This drama went on to play over 1500 shows all over Maharashtra and made Kondke a star. Then he debuted in the year 1969 in the Marathi movies through a role in Bhalji Pendharkar's movie Tambdi Maati which won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi. He then turned producer with the film Songadya in the year 1971. Some of his famous films are Tambdi Maati,Songadya,Ram Ram Gangaram,Bot Lavin Tithe Gudgudalya,Hyoch Navra Pahije,Tere Mere Beech Mein,etc., and his last movie Le Chal Apne Sang which is directed in hindi and this film is produced by Sunita Kondke.
Dada Kondke was entered in the Guinness Book of World Records for the highest number of films(nine) that achieved silver jubilee(running for 25 consecutive weeks). And he was also credited for introducing the genre of sex comedy to Marathi cinema and India cinema. He wrote some songs as a lyricist. Some are "Manasa paras medhara bari" and "Chalara Vaghya". On September 30,1997,Kondke suffered a heart attack at his residence Rama Niwas in Dadar,Mumbai. And then he was rushed to Shushrusha Nursing Home, and there after sometime he was declared dead.
