The original and still classic with Burt Reynolds in the lead. This film came out when I was 10 so it was a few years before I watched the uncut and unedited for broadcast version but have loved it from the beginning.

Adam Sandler takes a shot at the Burt Reynolds comedy. Well done remake showcases some retired NFL players along with a few other performers not known for movies. Adam does a good job of not being a smart alec in this understated role, at least for him.

One of the best films period, this movie covers my favorite sport during a very tumultuous time in our history. With Denzel Washington in the lead this fine movie will move anyone who watches it.

Having grown up in Texas I can attest to the way football is held as a religion by many in this state. This movie follows one of the premier high school football teams in the state on their trek to try and win the state championship. Honest and brutal at times, I really enjoy the fact that there is no Hollywood ending only a real ending to a real story.

Set in Texas and partially filmed in my home town of Taylor, TX, this movie depicts a coaches drive to win it all no matter the cost to his players. Does a good job of showcasing how even some parents get caught up in the drive to win at all costs.

Football movie based on the true story about how a coach takes the young men in his juvenile dention facility and turns them into a football team. Instilling in his players the concept of team play and thinking of something other than yourself. Sadly this program is coming to an end due to facility changes in the CA juvenile detention program.

As a fan of the sport, a fan of the University of Texas Longhorns football team this movie gave me pause. On the one hand the director took dramatic license and changed how some of the story actually played out but on the other hand it reflects the way things were during the 1950's for African Americans. Depicts the first African American Heisman Trophy winner and the trials and tribulations he had to deal with.

Based on the true story of the Marshall football team that was almost completely whiped out in a tragic airplane crash. This film starring Matthew Mcconaughey in the role of the new head coach charged with bringing the program literally back from the dead. Emotional film that will make you respect the Marshall football program for the grit it took to return to football 1 year after the tragedy that befell the program.

James Caan stars as the headcoach of a college football team and what is the reality behind the push to win it all. A behind the scenes look at the worst kept secret in NCAA football, alumni paying players, programs focused more on winning a NC than on educating the players makes for an interesting film.

Awe inspiring film that will rank among anyones classic list this film has it all, miracles, never say never mentality and the overall winner agains all odds. The best part? It's based on the true story depicted in the film, get some hankies as even a grown man will get a little teary eyed while watching this movie.

Sandra Bullock won an Oscar for her portrayal as the stop mother of a young man who had been virtually homeless before she takes him in and gives him the stability having a home provides. Never mind anything about race relations or the color of the skin of either side of this story, look at the basic story line in which a mother takes in a young man and raises him like one of her own. The best true story turned film I've seen in a while.

George Clooney stars in a football film set during the infancy of pro-football. Watching this film and the uniforms worn by the players will give you pause when you realize their helmets were leather? Is basically a comedy film but overall a good watch.

Not as much a sports movie as it is a drama this films backdrop is a high school football coach and the young man he becomes a surrogate for. Cuba Gooding Jr should have won an Academy Award for this role. Inspired by a true story, well worth watching.

Now for some good old fashioned comedy, this is among my favorite laugh out loud movies with football as the central character that this film uses to tell the story. Adam Sandler plays a halfwit who is the waterboy for a college football program but gets fired, he then seeks out and finds a waterboy position at South Central Louisiana State University which has not won a game in many years. Laughs galore and a fair story too will make this a must need for any movie buffs collection.

This movie is a comedy film that picks on a lot of popular movies from the football genre. Not a lot I can say about this film, it's funny, it's sophomoric and it will make you laugh at times.

Keanu Reeves stars as a hasbeen QB who blew it in the Sugar Bowl and is now cleaning the hulls of boats for wealthy individuals. What happens when he and his new teammates are given a shot at playing for an NFL team? Well watch and see as this film entertains.

Dwayne Johnson who uses "The Rock" for the last time, stars as NFL QB and MVP Joe Kingman. Kingman finds out he has a daughter and has to learn to care about something besides himself in this Disney comedy that is family friendly as well.

Clint Eastwood directs and stars in a film about female boxers and the sport that is dominated by men. Very interesting film showcases how hard it is to overcome the opinion of the trainer who does not think women can box and reluctantly takes the role of trainer for a woman boxer.

Inspiring true story of how a boxer goes from the promise of what his future in boxing could be to just trying to survive and keep his family together. Watch the true story of how Jim Braddock went from begging for work to defeating then world champion Max Baer.

True story of Irish Mickey Ward who has to overcome the influence of his family and win it all. Great boxing film showcasing the talents of Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg as brothers Mickey & Dickey Ward.

Kurt Russell plays coach Herb Brooks who coached Team USA to the Gold in the 1980 winter Olympics. Watch an entirely amatuer hockey team take on and defeat the USSR's hockey team which was a formidible force and the hands on favorite to win gold. Great inspiring film and overcoming the odds story line will make you want to cheer for the guys too.
