When Patrick comes over he accidentally shrinks him with his laser-shrinking button. When Squidward hears the noise and comes to complain, SpongeBob accidentally shrinks him too. Panicked, he ends up shrinking all of Bikini Bottom. Embarrassed, he has no choice but to go to Mermaidman, confess that he played with the belt and shrank everyone. At least he'll know which button makes everyone big again. But Mermaidman can't remember so SpongeBob ends up shrinking the whole town so everything seems back to normal. Doing Time: During a boating lesson with Mrs. Puff, SpongeBob loses control of his boat and crashes it into a juice truck and a senior citizens home. Mrs. Puff confesses that she is responsible for SpongeBob, so the police throw her in jail. SpongeBob is determined to free his teacher who he feels was wrongfully imprisoned. But Mrs. Puff is having a wonderful time. At last she can relax without having to worry about accompanying SpongeBob on any more harrowing boating lessons ever again-that is until SpongeBob and Patrick sneak into the jail and attempt to break her out.

When his public demands that they see him frying Krabby Patties, SpongeBob doesn't think he's anyone to deny them. He ends up cooking patties just like he always has. Can You Spare a Dime?: Squidward is fed up with Mr. Krab's insults and he quits, bragging about how easy it will be to find another job. But of course, it's not and Squidward falls upon hard times. He goes though all his savings and is dirt poor. Having no where else to turn, he asks SpongeBob if he can crash at the Pineapple for awhile, just until he gets back on his feet. SpongeBob's heart goes out to him, but soon Squidward takes advantage of SpongeBob's hospitality and becomes the house guest who has completely overstayed his welcome. SpongeBob has to beg Mr. Krabs to hire Squidward back at the Krusty Krab.

He overhears Patrick and SpongeBob hyping up a big night out that they're planning and figures that would be a good way to get hip again. He asks the guys if he can come along on their wild night on the town. They show Mr. Krabs a great(?) time...They hit the Laundromat, pick up trash under the highway, and stop at a kids' amusement restaurant. Mr. Krabs realizes that younger or not - they are not any hipper than he is. He tries to leave, but Patrick convinces him to go on their last big event of the night - a panty raid. Finally they're doing something cool...until Mr. Krabs realizes they've raided his own mother's house. He's sent to bed without supper. At least that makes him feel young again.

He proceeds to come up with numerous ways to fly. He and Patrick try everything from constructing a plane to tying SpongeBob to a kite. All of his efforts are fruitless, and he decided to give up. Then, miraculously, he tucks his hair dryer into his pants while he answers the phone, and his pants inflate. He can fly! He uses his "gift" to fly around town and help people. But the residents of Bikini Bottom get greedy and demand more and more of his time. He realizes that he never wanted the responsibility of being a hero, he just wanted to fly with the jellyfish. His magical pants are destroyed in an attack by the residents, but the jellyfish come to his aid, and he finally gets to fly among them. This episode features a plethora of musical numbers.

Shell of a Man: Mr. Krabs is getting ready for a big reunion with his old seafaring buddies when he suddenly molts his shell. It seems the years of owning a fast food restaurant have taken their toll on Mr. Krabs' waist line. And now that his armor-like shell no longer fits, Mr. Krabs is left quivering, shell-less, and pink. Afraid that his tough-as-nails friends will only ridicule him, but reluctant to not make an appearance at the get-together, Mr. Krabs disguises SpongeBob in his old shell and forces him to go to the reunion in his place.

If Plankton wins the case, he will be awarded everything that Mr. Krabs' owns, including the secret recipe formula. Only one man can defend Mr. Krabs, SpongeBob LawyerPants.

But SpongeBob and Patrick continue to intrude on his perfect Sunday with various activities from their Good Neighbor Club. So Squidward installs a high-tech security device designed to keep his "good neighbors" out. But the device malfunctions, mutates Squidward's house into a giant robot, and rampages through the town.

So he takes a job as a busboy at the Krusty Krab only to find that it has been transformed into a heartless mockery of his former restaurant. With the help of SpongeBob and Squidward, Mr. Krabs stages a fast food coup against the new management. Funny Pants: Squidward has had enough of SpongeBob's incessant laughter, so he tricks his neighbor into believing that SpongeBob has a laugh-related illness. According to the made-up disease, if SpongeBob laughs one more time in the next 24 hours, his laugh box will explode and he will never laugh or giggle again. For the rest of the day, SpongeBob fights every single urge to chuckle. The next morning, SpongeBob discovers that he completely lost the ability to laugh. Now utterly grief stricken, all SpongeBob can do is cry his eyes out. Squidward finally confesses to the forlorn sponge (the weeping was more annoying than SpongeBob's giggles), and in the process restores SpongeBob's laugh.

But as SpongeBob and Patrick soon learn, their heroes are not in the movie. The real Mermaidman and Barnacleboy were considered too old, so their filmic counterparts will be a couple of young actors that are nothing like the true heroes. SpongeBob is outraged, and he sets out to make his own version of the Mermaidman and Barnacleboy movie using the real guys fresh from their retirement home.

There they are mistaken for great knights and sent on a quest by King Krabs to rescue his daughter, the Princess Pearl, from the clutches of the evil wizard Planktonamor. To keep them company, the King sends along Squidward, the court jester (who was recently thrown in the dungeon for not being funny). The first obstacle they encounter is the dreaded Black Knight, an ornery squirrel who fights under the spell of Planktonamor. But Sir SpongeBob bests the Black Knight in a brilliant display of Ka-ra-te, and even breaks Planktonamor's hold on her. The Black Knight pledges herself to the heroes' cause, and the group of four marches on to Lord Plankton's lair where they encounter the giant fire-breathing jelly fish. Fortunately Sir SpongeBob has just the thing that will tame the dangerous beast, a krabby patty that he was saving in his pocket for lunch. The knights finally get through Plankton's defenses, save Princess Pearl, and restore peace to the kingdom.

SpongeBob figures out that this just a scam, and sets out to make all of the wishes come true.

It's not long before the power of the crown goes straight to the starfish's head.
