On their way to college, they meet with two young women, Rani Mehra and Kamini. Both young men fall in love with them, with Raja taking the first initiative and getting married to Kamini, even though she of a lower untouchable Caste, but decides not to tell his parents. When he does inform them, they want him to divorce Kamini and get married to a girl of their choice, Raja refuses and returns back to Kamini, only to find her in the arms of her childhood friend, Sunder. Angered and hurt at this betrayal, he decides to marry the girl his parents have chosen for him - and he is due for another surprise - as the girl he is about to wed is none other than Kamini's friend, Rani. Watch what happens when a liberated, tom-boyish Rani finds out that Raja is already married, and the impact this has on everyone concerned.

Widower Ashok lives a wealthy lifestyle in Bombay, India, along with his son, Kishore, his paternal aunt, a maid-servant, Chanda, and three other employees. He makes a living running an export-import business near Flora Fountain. One day unattended Kishore runs away, a frantic Ashok complains to the Police and puts up a reward of a thousand Rupees. A young woman named Asha, who lives a poor lifestyle, all by herself, finds Kishore, brings him to the Police Station, where he is picked up by Ashok and taken home. Asha refuses to take any reward money. Shortly thereafter Ashok advertises for the position of a governess, Asha applies, is hired, and moves in to live with them. Soon she and Ashok fall in love, much to the chagrin of Ashok's aunt, who wants him to marry her niece. Ashok gets married with Asha nevertheless, the family live in harmony, and Asha gives birth to a male child, Munna. Thereafter Ashok is told that Asha is neglecting Kishore; a necklace that was inexpensive, but a good omen for Kishore goes missing, and is subsequently found on Munna's bed; and a cat dies after drinking poisoned milk that was meant for Kishore. An angered Ashok blames Asha and asks her to leave, and she picks up Munna and leaves. The question remains: Did Asha really neglect, steal and then try to kill Kishore merely because she became a mother herself or was there some other unknown reason(s)?

Nisha lives a poor lifestyle in the Portuguese-ruled Malabar region in India along with her widowed dad, Narayan Das. Both father and daughter are opposed to the oppressive rule of the Portuguese General Barborosa, and even shelter a freedom fighter, Ramzan Ali Saudagar. When the Police get wind of this, they arrest both Ramzan and Narayan and torture them. Nisha approaches Raj Mata albeit in vain. Thereafter Nisha and her friend are arrested and jailed after a failed attempt to kill Barborosa. After spending sometime in prison, the two women, along with several other prisoners are hired out to work on a merchant ship. They end up overpowering the ship and it's men and take over it. They use this ship to tackle another Portuguese vessel, sinking it, and taking three captives, an astrologer, a young man, and a woman named Rosita. The young man, who had rescued Nisha from molesters earlier, falls in love with Nisha and together they decide to oppose the Portuguese regime and overthrow them. What Nisha and her associates do not know is that the young man is really Raj Kumar Ravi - who was being sent to Portugal to learn various war-like arts so that he and the Portuguese can continue to rule over Malabar. Watch what happens when Ravi escapes and returns to his castle.

Adil (Premnath) is a dashing, brave young man, full of hope and mindful of the rights of all people, especially the downtrodden. It is this last attribute that ends up putting him in the bad books of the Emperor (Ulhas). The Emperor orders his arrest. But before the soldiers can arrest Adil, he single-handedly rescues the Emperor's bethrothed from a lion. This earns him the gratitude of beautiful Queen-to-be, Juhi (Purnima). The Emperor, pleased with Adil, gives him an important assignment in his army, and promises that Adil's fellow-villagers will not face oppression, taxes or forced labour from his army. Ruhi (Bina Rai) loves Adil, but Adil is unaware of this. Juhi is impressed by Adil and this impression turns to love, and she tells Adil about this. Adil does not think it appropriate for a bethrothed to be his lover and wife, and spurns her. Angered Juhi starts to plot against Adil, by getting the emperor to collect taxes and forced labour from Adil's village. This angers Adil, who goes to confront the emperor and the queen-to-be. Angered, the Emperor dismisses Adil, and orders his arrest. Adil flees to the hills. Numerous attempts by the emperor's armies to apprehend Adil are in vain. Finally, Juhi tells the emperor that she will bring in Adil without spilling a drop of blood. Will Ruhi succeed where so many have failed?

Roma (Meena Shorey) is on her way home after celebrating with her friends at Asha's (Yashodra Katju) place when she is attacked by two robbers who try to steal her purse. She faints as one of them brandishes a knife. Motilal (Motilal) and his friend Hiralal (Majnu) are driving through that place and scare away the robbers. After wondering what to do with the unconscious girl they decide to take her to Moti's house to render treatment. Roma makes a phone call to her father Seth Madanlal (K. N. Dhar) to tell him her whereabouts but he is too angry to know the reason why she is there except to ask her the address. On arriving there and seeing her with two men he gets angry and starts shouting which wakes up Motilal's father Seth Ramlal (Romesh Thakur) and he appears downstairs. The two fathers fight loudly and Roma is taken away by her father. Roma and Motilal fall in love with each other and want to marry. Roma's father finally agrees to the wedding but then Motilal's father is in poor health and dying so the marriage is postponed. Before dying Seth Ramlal calls his son and tells him to avoid three things in life. First, never drink alcohol, second not to associate with women of loose morals and the third never tell a secret to a woman. Having given his sermon the father dies. Motilal goes through the first two and realises what his father meant as he gets into trouble. For the third caveat Motilal stages a drama about murdering his friend with his help and tells Roma about it. Between Roma, who tells her friend Asha, and Asha who tells her husband who is in the police the secret is no longer a secret. Moti is arrested and the friend has disappeared.
