Ghost Car movies

The most terrifying ghost car movie in my opinion, a classic menacing horror film. This piece truly stays on top even after thirty-plus years ;) This is the one for atmospheric horror fans :)

Sometimes less is more...The lack of over-editing and great camera angles make this movie my 2nd. The Charger is superbly modified, they managed to give it a truly sinister look. A very well-crafted TV movie, that makes up for the bad acting with very stylish atmospheres and amazing camera work! Yes, it is at times boring, but it has some really good car-crash action that is really raw and realistic. This isn't the one for Fast & Furious fans :)

Considered a cult favourite reasonably so, as it is possibly the most psychologically challenging ghost vehicle film. A very intense and thrilling movie directed by Spielberg that is guaranteed well put-together. The chase throughout the film pictures road rage amazingly well, and the protagonist's increasing fear is very intricate. I recommend this to anyone wanting to watch a challenging TV movie.

A classic obviously, but sadly the cheesyness ruins all scary scenes. Definitely a good watch with company, but not the most subtle piece in the genre if you are looking for movies with just a little bit more depth. This is the one for people who just want have a good time watching a movie :)

A Czechslovakian drama about a particular Skoda 110 Super Sport, a prototype which features as a vampire-car made by a foreign manufacturer, Ferat. Not too mysterious, or comical (even thought it's said to be in the genre) but a quite good melodrama and a special piece for those who can relate to the socialist-era. The storyline is quite simple, not very deep, but the road safety commentary is noteworthy.

As the sub-title also suggests, this is hugely based on Christine. Too bad that it is very low-budget, because it really shows in performances, the cars and the scene set-ups as well. The acting is sadly shallow, but it definitely has some potential for ghost car movie fans. A bit grimey, suspenseful but in overall a boring and not scary movie at all. This one is for the fanciers of this genre :)

I couldn't help but include this abstract comedy, which is widely regarded for its absurd french humour. Being a recent movie it relies very much on HD shoots, so the detailed shots of the desert are beautiful, and the editing is also spot-on. Stylistically amazing, and at times very menacing. A very absurd piece only for those who are sure they can appreaciate its humour.

A fairly good film that might only appeal to oldschool sci-fi fanatics. The weird sounds throughout are certainly interesting but haven't stood the test of time well unlike other sci-fi classics. The acting and editing is on par with Wheels Of Terror, but this is nowhere near as action-packed or scary. Watch this only if you appreciate the oldies :)

Possibly one of the worst movies I have ever seen, I can't seem to understand the beauty of it. It is praised by many, but it is just downright stupid, a lot of plotholes you can't miss, lame ideas and annoying characters, almost as bad as the ones in The Mist. Lacking any subtlety, the plot is atrocious, so are the effects. During the movie I kept thinking "you could have escaped that in a 100 times safer way", so I found it hard to concentrate on the actual events. Not many were there though. This one is...the one you can miss out on :)))

As far as ghost car films go, this doesn't really compete since it's not exactly going for the thrilling or mysterious atmosphere. However, it does have its surprising moments, but finding out who the driver/ghost is, is way too easy. For my taste this was too cheesy, but it has a nice 80s vibe with fitting music and good cars, such as the Daytona or the main attraction, the Dodge M4S concept car.

The cheesiest of all, an uncontroversial horror movie obviously basing its plot on Christine and The Car. Could have been interesting if it was stylistically better, but in reality it's very dull.
Unless you like gore-horror, this movie has nothing worthwhile, car chases at 50 mph and a lot of fake blood, doesn't even come to close to scary. This will be easily forgotten in 10 years unless ghost car movie fans keep it alive...but to be honest it's not really worth it.
