A real disappointment. The Guillotines are a secret team of Imperial enforcers and we see them strut their stuff with their fancy uniforms and flying... swords. These are rather fancy items (and heavily CGIed), each one slightly different from each other but all working like the cutting ring of a flying guillotine, just without the head basket. Unfortunately, after their early appearances they go undercover and on the run and we don't see their uniforms again and the flying... swords only make brief appearances. Basically, after the first couple of dozen minutes the move takes a swerve away from action into the kind of period war/drama story that you see in dozens of recent Chinese movies, most of whom do this kind of thing better. It actually feels like they had a change of director (and cinematographer and scriptwriter) not long after filming started and the producers imposed a completely different story on the film. So, while the flying... swords are a bit of a let-down, the action was shot stylishly enough that I was up for a film about that kind of thing at which point the film switched tracks. - DirectorWai-Lun LoStarCelina JadeWell it should be obvious that I love the flying guillotine and I also a big fan of zombies, so just the name is enough to make me happy. The fact that this short film is awesome is an added bonus. Why hasn't anyone made this into a full-length movie?
