- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsCillian MurphyEmily BluntMatt DamonA dramatization of the life story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the physicist who had a large hand in the development of the atomic bombs that brought an end to World War II.My rating - 8/10
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsLeonardo DiCaprioJoseph Gordon-LevittElliot PageA thief who steals corporate secrets through the use of dream-sharing technology is given the inverse task of planting an idea into the mind of a C.E.O., but his tragic past may doom the project and his team to disaster. My rating - 7.5/10
Many movies involve dreams, but they are all the same with pointless plots. But that didn't stop Chris Nolan from the complexity behind this film and the thought it brings to the viewer watching it. It took me until the third time to fully enjoy the film, and enjoy I did. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleMichael CaineKen WatanabeAfter witnessing his parents' death, billionaire Bruce Wayne learns the art of fighting to confront injustice. When he returns to Gotham as Batman, he must stop a secret society that intends to destroy the city.My rating - 7.5/10
The first big market movie directed by Nolan, was also the movie which put him on the map. His vision of Bruce Wayne's past told in film, was done with great care. He helped regenerate the Batman series that was starting to become a joke. The story involving Mr. Wayne and Ra's Al Ghul is an underrated gem in my eyes. The frightening images of Scarecrow, and his mental games with Batman, are too also very compelling as well. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHeath LedgerAaron EckhartWhen a menace known as the Joker wreaks havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham, Batman, James Gordon and Harvey Dent must work together to put an end to the madness. My rating - 7.5/10
(Some day, whenever that day is, I will write - very, very poorly and lacking in sophistication - why this was demoted from the top spot.) - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleHugh JackmanScarlett JohanssonRival 19th-century magicians engage in a bitter battle for trade secrets. My rating - 7/10
Their aren't many movies involving magicians, and when there are, they are typically meant for kids. But Nolan did what seemed like was impossible, and made a serious and intriguing film about two feuding magicians. Very well done, with a pretty clever climax. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsAl PacinoRobin WilliamsHilary SwankA Los Angeles detective chases a murder suspect in a remote Alaskan town.My rating - 7/10
Nolan's successor to his huge indie film, Memento, not as well done, but good nevertheless. The further the movie goes along, the better it gets. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsGuy PearceCarrie-Anne MossJoe PantolianoA former insurance investigator who now suffers from anterograde amnesia uses notes and tattoos to hunt down his wife's murderer. My rating - 6.5/10
As Pulp Fiction was to Quentin Tarantino, the same can be said about Memento to Christopher Nolan. Adapting the short story written by his brother, Jonathan Nolan, Chris wrote and directed this unique thriller. This movie truly gave Nolan his signature mark on cinema, which would be the way he requires the viewer to think if they want to understand his movies. The most impressive part of the movie in my opinion, is how he so successfully has a non-linear and chronological story happening simultaneously throughout the course of the whole film. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsFionn WhiteheadBarry KeoghanMark RylanceAllied soldiers from Belgium, the British Commonwealth and Empire, and France are surrounded by the German Army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II.My rating - 6.5/10
Nolan's first war film triumphs over the majority of other war films set during World War II, though it does have its glares. Arguably the greatest strength of the film is its overall intensity and raw drama delivered scene-by-scene. It doesn't have the strongest plot nor character development, but it makes up for that in tension and suspense. It may not be a pro-war film - as it shows the utter horrors of war - but it has deep sentiments towards British patriotism for the state's imperialist endeavors. Historians have pointed out how the film focuses only on the British soldiers too much, whitewashing the Indian soldiers who fought there with them. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsMatthew McConaugheyAnne HathawayJessica ChastainWhen Earth becomes uninhabitable in the future, a farmer and ex-NASA pilot, Joseph Cooper, is tasked to pilot a spacecraft, along with a team of researchers, to find a new planet for humans. My rating - 6.5/10
As usual, a fantastic score composed by Hans Zimmer, along with some wonderful visuals, but the lack of character development and care for the story holds the movie back. This is due to Nolan's tendency to put more focus towards the construct of the story, rather than the actual story and its characters. In my opinion, this was one of the most overrated movies that was released in 2014. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsChristian BaleTom HardyAnne HathawayBane, an imposing terrorist, attacks Gotham City and disrupts its eight-year-long period of peace. This forces Bruce Wayne to come out of hiding and don the cape and cowl of Batman again. My rating - 6.5/10
The least impressive of Nolan's Batman trilogy, mainly due to a slow start, boring action scenes, and an anti-climactic ending that at first had promise, but fell real short. The Bane character never lived up to the build-up the movie was seeming to convey, and rather is a forgettable antagonist, excluding his often-imitated voice. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsJeremy TheobaldAlex HawLucy RussellA young writer who follows strangers for material meets a thief who takes him under his wing.My rating - 6/10
The first film Nolan wrote and directed, with a very clever story. It could have been executed better, but considering his $6,000 budget, it's good with me. - DirectorChristopher NolanStarsJohn David WashingtonRobert PattinsonElizabeth DebickiArmed with only the word "Tenet," and fighting for the survival of the entire world, CIA operative, The Protagonist, journeys through a twilight world of international espionage on a global mission that unfolds beyond real time.My rating - 4.5/10
