The Simpsons are proud to be the most festively decorated house on the block. But when Lisa is traumatized at Krustyland Horror Night, she feels she cannot handle Halloween anymore.

It's the day before Halloween and Homer and Marge are setting up their house with lots of Halloween decorations and Homer complains about more people skipping the holiday. Bart then comes and says that their skeletons have been melted by the furnace and Homer says they are going to the pop up store. Just outside the Halloween store, Lisa says she is looking forward to going to the krustyland Halloween event. Once inside the store Apu reveals his Halloween name as Aboo and he tells three men to get back to work. Apu complains about them being pop up people. Homer then walks past four musical Mexican skeletons and one of the pop up men tell him that he could buy one for cash and get the other three for free if he doesn't tell Apu. Unfortunately, Homer tells Apu and he throws the men out and they tell Homer that he is going to be sorry for what he did. At krustyland, Lisa runs right in and instantly becomes frightened by the zombies and monsters. Homer tells her that she should stay and hold his hand through the zombies. When they get out, it is revealed that Lisa is holding a zombie's hand and Homer went to get a pretzel. Lisa goes to ask for help, but everyone she goes to is a monster of some kind and Lisa falls to the ground in fear and the event goes on hold. It is now Halloween day and Bart goes to school as a pirate, but Lisa after her scare isn't dressing up. Unfortunately, in the way in, Skinner confiscates most of Barts costume. Meanwhile, Lisa walks down the hallway, but gets scared by the Halloween decorations and runs into a locker, before Marge picks her up. Marge then tells Homer that she thinks he should take down Everscream Terrors as they don't want Lisa to revert back to tailee. They run into the living room and see that tailee is missing from the scrapbook. Upstairs, Lisa is on her bed with tailee and says that it's what makes her feel safe. When Bart arrives back, he is disappointed to see all the decorations being taken down, so Marge tells him she is taking him trick or treating in an awesome town. Homer then puts out a bowl of candy and sits with Lisa to do a puzzle, before the doorbell rings and Homer answers it to see the pop up men again and Homer slams the door in their faces. Unfortunately, they don't give up and spook Homer out. Unfortunately for Bart, outsiders to the street aren't allowed to go in and Marge tries to win the security guard over with a discount on zip lining, but he rejects the offer, much to Barts disappointment. Back at the Simpsons house, Lisa is doing the puzzle and Homer starts whistling to the tune of the "Halloween theme song", while locking up the house and realizes that there is writing on the wall in the kitchen, saying that the pop up men are in the house and Homer tries to phone the police, but the line has been cut. Homer tries to get Lisa over to the Flanders's house and Lisa realizes she forgot tailee and runs back inside. Homer finds she is ok and hugs her before the men reveal themselves from a mist of fog from a fog machine. Homer and Lisa climb up the ladder to the attic and Homer tells Lisa that this really is real. Marge meanwhile, starts to worry about missing trick or treating, so she rushes Bart and Maggie out of the car, but all the doors slam shut. Then a bunch of grown ups dressed up as weird bizarre things start dancing in the street and sing a song to the beat of "Time Warp". Back in the Simpsons household, the men trash their property and tangles up Homers wind chimes. In the attic, Lisa tells Homer that they can get help by hanging up decorations from all holidays. Unfortunately, the Musical skeletons start playing their song, revealing where Homer is and the men climb up the ladder to the attic, just as Homer and Lisa get to the roof. The match wouldn't stay lit to release the fireworks, so Lisa says to burn tailee and use it to light the fireworks. Fortunately, everyone sees the fireworks and come to the rescue. The police arrest the men, but tell them where to work when they get out of prison. When Marge gets back, she sees Everscream Terrors is back up, which really thrills Bart, but Marge claims it will scare Lisa, before it is revealed that Lisa is part of the fun and has gotten over her fear of Halloween. The episode ends with Kang and Kodos saying it wasn't their traditional Halloween experience, before exposing themselves to be Lenny and Carl.
