After a 14 year hiatus, the Final Destination franchise returned this year with Final Destination: Bloodlines – and movie-goers were clearly missing these movies, as Bloodlines has so far pulled in $193 million at the global box office, making it the highest-grossing entry in the franchise. One fan of the series is singer/songwriter Charli xcx, who took to TikTok to share her pitch for the next sequel, one that she envisions starring in alongside several “It Girl” actresses.
Charli xcx said (with thanks to The Hollywood Reporter for the transcription), “I’m rewatching all of the Final Destination movies, in preparation to see Final Destination: Bloodlines, which I’m really excited to see. The reason I love these movies is that they really just are about hot people getting killed. You know, there’s no moral backbone to the story, it really is just, ‘They’re hot, they’re cursed and they deserve to die.

It’s been quite the year for Charli Xcx. Brat has been out almost 12 months and remains in the Billboard Top 40. Her American tour included four sold-out nights at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, and a set of European shows starts next month. And she’s prepping to star in The Moment, a mock-doc about a pop star on tour. How could Charli ever top all of that? Turns out, she’s not too worried about it.

Charli Xcx is coming off the most successful era of career thus far with her 2024 album Brat, creating a uniting cultural moment with some of her sharpest, most indelible tracks yet. Now, in a new interview, Charli is already preparing for her next album to be “a flop.”
“I don’t really feel the pressure to create another record like Brat because when I was making it, even though I really believed in it and totally knew what I wanted to do with it, I had no idea how it would be received,” Charli Xcx told Culted at Cannes Film Festival this week. “I was really doing it for myself and marketing it in the way I wanted to for myself but I had no clue that people would kind of connect to it in the way that they did. Cannes is so brat.
On the heels of an electric Coachella performance and a series of roof-raising concerts in Brooklyn, Charli Xcx touched down last night at the Cannes Film Festival where she extended Brat summer, bringing some green to the Croisette courtesy of Magnum.
The well-known ice cream brand, which has long posted up for high-profile activations during the festival, once again took over Palais Stephanie. This year, Magnum dedicated Thursday to a day of “unapologetic indulgence” as a way to celebrate the brand’s offerings and inspire “a new generation of pleasure seekers to ‘own the moment’ their way,” per official intel.

Exclusive: Arden Cho (Partner Track) and Margaret Cho (Dying for Sex) have signed on to star in Cheap Af, a romantic comedy from first-time feature director Roy Hsu, who also penned the script.
Cheap Af tells the story of a money-saving influencer (Arden Cho) seeking her big break, who risks losing her wedding and relationships when she goes all out to win Wedding Magazine’s “Best Wedding on a Budget” social media competition.
In a statement to Deadline, Hsu observed that “America is a melting pot, and many immigrants share common experiences regardless of race—parents chasing better futures, valuing education, and, yes, saving every penny.” His hope with the film has been “to tell a comedic bridezilla story about two women competing for the cheapest wedding, though at its core, the film is about letting go of the past and discovering what truly matters—all through an Asian-American lens...

Get ready for Takashi Miike summer. Charli xcx is set to star in and produce the next film from the prolific Japanese horror director, Variety understands.
The film marks the second project the multi-hyphenate — whose sixth studio album, “Brat,” continues to be a phenomenon — is producing through her new Studio365 banner, joining upcoming A24 movie “The Moment.” Though plot details are being kept under wraps, Miike is known for his depictions of extreme violence, as seen in his 1999 cult classic “Audition” and 2001’s “Ichi the Killer.” Ross Evans, whose script “How to Save a Marriage” is being developed for Sony with Robert Pattinson attached to produce, is penning the screenplay. Yumiko Aoyagi is co-writing.
Since launching “Brat” in June of last year — which earned the pop star three Grammys and was widely regarded as the best album of 2024 — Charli has turned her attention toward acting and producing, lining up an impressive array of projects.

What’s going to be this year’s “Anora”? As the Cannes Film Festival rapidly approaches, that’s the question for artistic director Thierry Fremaux and movie buffs around the world.
A month before Cannes Film Festival’s press conference, the official selection is still very much a work in progress, with little reliable information filtering through about which movies have already been invited. In fact, as of Friday — despite the volume of splashy prediction stories — it appears that only three films have so far been given a golden ticket to compete in Cannes. Variety can reveal that one of them is Jim Jarmusch’s anticipated “Father Mother Sister Brother“ starring Cate Blanchett, Adam Driver and Tom Waits.
The last edition of the festival, which Fremaux had warned would be slightly weaker due to the impact of the double Hollywood strikes, proved to be anything but. Headlined by Sean Baker’s Palme d’Or-winning “Anora,...

When Chase Sui Wonders hit the SXSW red carpet to promote “The Studio,” she took a moment to tell IndieWire about her role in Gregg Araki’s psychosexual thriller “I Want Your Sex,” which wrapped at the end of last year in Los Angeles. The film follows Cooper Hoffman as the “sexual muse” of a renowned artist, played by Olivia Wilde, “on a journey more profound than he ever could have imagined, into a world of sex, obsession, power, betrayal and murder,” according to the official synopsis.
“‘Nowhere’ is a favorite of mine, ‘Mysterious Skin’ obviously, ‘The Doom Generation,'” Wonders said of her affinity for Araki’s work. “All of his movies are so weird and so offbeat and, yet, point to something so universal about the human psyche and to be able to work with him, an icon like that, he was at the top of my list.

Brat summer is over — Brat winter is coming! It's been a busy old start to the month for pop megastar Charli Xcx, who scooped a mighty four Brit Awards just last weekend before following it up with the announcement of a Glastonbury headline slot just this morning. But while the rest of us would probably be nursing hangovers or taking some time out to chill right about now, that's not the 'Guess' singer's style. Per Deadline's reporting, the budding actor is circling a role in Greta Gerwig's upcoming Netflix Narnia movie.
Who exactly Charli Xcx will hypothetically be playing in Gerwig's fantasy epic adaptation of C.S. Lewis' beloved books isn't 100% confirmed, but while we reckon the Brit star could easily play one of the Good Ones, Deadline's sources say that she could be set to play one of the franchise's Mean Girls instead — namely Jadis, The White Witch.

Charli XCX might be joining the Greta Gerwig cinematic universe.
The “Brat” singer/songwriter is reportedly being considered for a role in Gerwig’s “Narnia” film at Netflix. Deadline first announced the possible casting. Representatives for Gerwig had no comment to IndieWire.
According to the report, Charli XCX is being eyed to play Jadis, The White Witch. Tilda Swinton formerly brought the literary character to life in the original film adaptations. The books were first adapted for the big screen with a film trilogy spanning from 2005 to 2010, starting with “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.”
Gerwig will now be directing at least two Netflix films based on the beloved C.S. Lewis novel series. The first Gerwig-directed “Narnia” film will premiere in IMAX theaters in November 2026 before streaming on Netflix starting Christmas Day 2026.

Charli Xcx may be heading to Narnia. The Grammy winner is reportedly being eyed to join Greta Gerwig's The Chronicles of Narnia movie in a major role.
According to Deadline, Charli Xcx has been in talks to join the Netflix movie for a while now, with the Grammy-winning pop star being eyed for Jadis the White Witch, a role previously played by Tilda Swinton in Walden Media' Narnia trilogy (2005-10). The casting report notes that she hasn't officially signed a deal yet to play the White Witch, but is the top choice for the role. Moviegoers haven't seen much of Charli Xcx on the big screen outside some voice acting, but that's about to change. She has wrapped filming on several upcoming movies, including Cathy Yan’s The Gallerist, Romain Gavras' Sacrifice, and Gregg Araki's I Want Your Sex. However, Gerwig's Narnia reboot would serve as Charli Xcx's most high-profile project yet.

Cooper Hoffman follows the love — quite literally for his upcoming feature “I Want Your Sex.”
Hoffman, who made his acting debut in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Licorice Pizza,” is set to co-lead Gregg Araki‘s upcoming psychosexual thriller “I Want Your Sex.” Amid the trend of older woman, younger man romances, Hoffman plays the “sexual muse” of a renowned artist (Olivia Wilde). “I Want Your Sex” was announced in August 2024 and began production in Los Angeles in October 2024. The feature, which co-stars Charli xcx, is currently in post-production.
According to Hoffman, “I Want Your Sex” is a Bdsm dominatrix drama — one that has a surprising overlap with his latest film, Simon West’s “Old Guy.” While “Old Guy” has Hoffman playing an assassin learning from an elder hitman (Christoph Waltz), “I Want Your Sex” also pits Hoffman alongside an older mentee … but for eroticism, rather than violence.

Pop superstar Charli Xcx will be starring in another film, this one based on her own original idea, Variety reports. The project, titled The Moment, will be produced by Charli as the first film under her new production company, Studio365. A24 will distribute the picture, which is to be the feature directorial debut of photographer turned filmmaker Aidan Zamiri, who helmed two music videos for Charli, "360" and "Guess" featuring Billie Eilish. Zamiri co-wrote the script with Bertie Brandes. Plot details are under wraps, but producer and longtime collaborator A.G. Cook, who produced Charli's award-winning sixth album Brat, will provide the soundtrack.
The Moment is appropriately titled, given that Charli herself is certainly having her moment. We're still a long way away from the February 2026 release date for Scream 7, but returning star Mason Gooding is already singing the praises of his cast mates, including the returning Neve Campbell. Gooding first appeared in the franchise in 2022's Scream as Chad Meeks-Martin, the dizygotic twin to Jasmin Savoy Brown's character of Mindy. The siblings survived Ghostface's attacks, and returned for the sequel, Scream 6, in 2023.
Gooding recently sat down with Entertainment Tonight to promote the release of his romantic comedy slasher Heart Eyes, when the subject of Scream 7 came up. Asked whether he's managed to touch base with his fictional sister, the star's face lit up at the mere mention of Brown, and said being paired with her in the franchise has been like being blessed with another sister in addition to the one he already has.

Apparently, some fans weren’t thrilled with Thirteen’s relationship with Dr. Eric Foreman on the hit television series, House. According to star Olivia Wilde, who portrayed MD Remy Hadley, a.k.a. Thirteen, alongside co-star Omar Epps (Dr. Foreman), the actress received “insane death threats” because of the interracial love affair. Wilde revealed extra security was even hired in an interview at the Red Sea International Film Festival. Wilde said (per Variety):
"[There were] insane death threats constantly coming into the studios. Seeing what’s on television now, if you watch ‘Euphoria,’ the fact that my character was shocking and groundbreaking, then, it’s like, no, it’s nothing."
Wilde, who portrayed Thirteen from Season 4 through Season 8, was nominated for four Teen Choice Awards (2008-2011) and a Screen Actors Guild Awards nod (Ensemble nomination) during her time on House. Today, Wilde is not only a renowned performer, but an influential filmmaker.

As one of a handful of actresses in Hollywood who have successfully crossed over into directing, Olivia Wilde claims one of the reasons for this small number was the messaging given to children when they express an interest in cinema.
“I think for many young women, when we love movies as little girls, we’re told, ‘Oh, you should be an actress,” she said, speaking at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia. “I think when little boys say they love movies, people say ‘You should be a director.'”

Olivia Wilde appreciates how wild auteur Gregg Araki can get.
Wilde, who leads Araki’s upcoming psychosexual thriller “I Want Your Sex,” told Variety that working with the filmmaker reinvigorated her love of cinema.
“He’s such a force,” Wilde said. “He’s so singular and authentic. I’ve never met someone less Hollywood. He is a filmmaker for all the right reasons. He is a freak in the best possible way. I’m so inspired by him.”
She continued, “I feel in many ways that movie reminded me of why I do this.”
“I Want Your Sex” co-stars Cooper Hoffman as Wilde’s onscreen paramour. Araki co-wrote the script with Karley Sciortino.
The official synopsis reads: “How far is too far? When fresh-faced Elliot (Hoffman) lands an exciting job for renowned artist, icon and provocateur Erika Tracy (Wilde), his fantasies come true as Erika taps him to become her sexual muse.

Olivia Wilde didn’t have any scenes with Charli Xcx in Gregg Araki’s “I Want Your Sex.” However, the “Brat” singer did receive quite the cheeky gift from Wilde.
“I left it on her chair because I knew she was coming in right after me,” Wilde told me Tuesday at the Baby2Baby Holiday Event at Bmo Stadium in Los Angeles. “I got her my favorite mug, a Bella Freud mug that says, ‘Hello, Cunty,’ and then I filled it with her favorite cigarettes and put a little rose in the middle of it. She loved it. She carried it around with her.”
“I Want Your Sex” stars Wilde as a renowned art world firebrand who coerces a young man named Elliot (Cooper Hoffman) into being her sexual muse. What starts as a fantasy for the aspiring artist soon devolves into a spiraling nightmare. Details about Charli’s role have remained under wraps.
