Exclusive: Actress, director and producer Olivia Wilde will receive the Taormina Film Festival’s Creativity Award at the 71st edition of the event which runs June 10-14 in the hilltop Sicilian town.

Wilde, who started out as an assistant casting director and moved into acting on such series as The O.C. and House, made her feature directing debut with 2019’s Booksmart, following it up with 2022’s Don’t Worry Darling.

As an actress, Wilde has thriller I Want Your Sex from Gregg Araki and Black Bear on deck. Cooper Hoffman and pop superstar Charli Xcx also star.

The film marks the second project the multi-hyphenate — whose sixth studio album, “Brat,” continues to be a phenomenon — is producing through her new Studio365 banner, joining upcoming A24 movie “The Moment.” Though plot details are being kept under wraps, Miike is known for his depictions of extreme violence, as seen in his 1999 cult classic “Audition” and 2001’s “Ichi the Killer.” Ross Evans, whose script “How to Save a Marriage” is being developed for Sony with Robert Pattinson attached to produce, is penning the screenplay. Yumiko Aoyagi is co-writing.

Since launching “Brat” in June of last year — which earned the pop star three Grammys and was widely regarded as the best album of 2024 — Charli has turned her attention toward acting and producing, lining up an impressive array of projects.

Olivia Wilde is back in the director’s chair, as the “Booksmart” and “Don’t Worry Darling” filmmaker is currently filming her third directorial outing, “The Invite,” first reported by Variety and confirmed by IndieWire. The film follows two couples, neighbors who do not quite get along, who come together for a dinner date night that inspires some unexpected revelations.

Internet icon Benito Skinner Aka Benny Drama is making his TV debut with semi-autobiographical comedy series “Overcompensating.”

Skinner writes, executive produces, and stars in the college-set Prime Video series that boasts a who’s who of legendary co-stars. Connie Britton and Kyle MacLachlan appear in the show, with Charli Xcx serving as the executive music producer and guest star.
