Deceitful Love: A Steamy Escape with a Touch of Drama

"Deceitful Love" was exactly what I needed-a well-timed guilty pleasure that let me escape from reality for a while. The story centers on Gabriella, a sophisticated hotel owner, who finds herself unexpectedly falling for Elia, a young and mysterious stranger. The age difference added a layer of complexity and tension to their romance, which I found fun to watch.

Giacomo Gianniotti, who plays Elia, absolutely captivated me. He is not just beautiful, but has this magnetic presence that pulls you into every scene. His chemistry with Monica Guerritore (Gabriella) was electric, and their love story, with all its ups and downs, felt intense, passionate, and sometimes a little dangerous.

Sure, some parts of the show felt over-the-top, but that's what made it such a fun ride. "Deceitful Love" doesn't aim to be perfect-it's here to entertain, and it does so in spades. The beautiful Amalfi Coast setting, the tangled relationships, and the unpredictable twists kept me hooked from start to finish.

If you're looking for a dramatic, sexy escape that doesn't take itself too seriously, "Deceitful Love" is definitely worth a watch.

An entertaining guilty pleasure!

This is definitely a very soap opera-ish mini series but that's what makes it such a fun ride. It's about an older wealthy woman who is the owner of a luxurious hotel and happens to fall quickly in love with a man half her age. His intentions are incredibly questionable. Her grown children, particularly her eldest son, get involved and try to stop the relationship. Throughout the show, so many hidden family secrets are revealed. There are twists and turns everywhere, it is at times so over the top I couldn't help but laugh. Just when I thought I knew where things were going, another surprise would pop up. I binge watched this on a lazy Sunday and was pleasantly entertained!

Interesting mini series worth watching

I read the reviews prior to writing mine. I think i understand why the low reviews but from my behalf I think this is a worth watching mini series. Let's start from the obvious the music and the cinematography- views and overall production is really good. The plot makes you think how easy it is to lose yourself in the "norms" either of society or of the family and its dynamics and while living to conform and satisfy these life passes by and you lose yourself and don't live. By choosing the character a women's in her 60s that gets stronger by the episode the main connotations and concept is well projected in a gradual way that is built up episode by episode. All in all it's worth watching this series.

A bit farfetched, but very entertaining romantic thriller

If you can look past the rather unrealistic premise that a 60-yo successful and intelligent woman would fall, within hardly a day, for a totally unknown thirty-something stud, then you'll sure to have a very good time with this romantic and (soft-) erotic thriller. It's an involving story with some nice twists and turns, and dark secrets that gradually get revealed.

The setting at the beautiful Amalfi coast of Italy is breathtaking, and the atmosphere is sensuous, thanks to the bright light of summer, the song-like flow of the Italian language, and some very titillating love-scenes. Giacomo Gianniotti (Dr. DeLuca in Grey's Anatomy!) is spot-on as the wildly attractive, mysterious and seductive Elia; and Monica Guerritore convincingly plays elderly, lovestruck Gabriella, while all the time maintaining her authoritative dignity. She by the way deserves high praise for her courage to play this sensuous role without any prudish restraint.

For some reasons the writers threw in several side-storylines, that each initially seemed to be important, but ultimately didn't add anything to the main story. Like the gay affair of the oldest son, that simply dead-ended in the last episode; or the vague personal problems of the daughter, that never got any explanation. Even Gabriella's own hidden past seemed, when at last revealed, hardly relevant for the course of the main story. And I also had some trouble with accepting the end, where deceitful, even criminal behavior seemed to be swept under the rug of love.

But for the rest: an involving and very entertaining mini series.

Flat Soap Opera

This is a soap, and not a good one. The plot is thin, there are no likable characters, and the romance is flat.

First off, the writers attempt to be clever by drumming up questionable scenarios/actions to cast doubt on the hero. All it did was make him look suspect and not worthy of the heroine. And made the heroine look stupid and thirsty.

Second, there are no likable characters, well maybe the hero, who is undoubtedly shady but falls for his mark. The heroine is so up and down there is no way in real life a man in his right mind would put up with her violent outbursts, fueled by low self esteem, then crawling back for forgiveness.

Why did they fall in love again?

Third, there isn't any romance. There's tons of steam but we really don't get to see why they fell in love. It's just an annoying loop of them in bed, her kicking him out, followed by her groveling for him to come back.

Does he like youthfulness? Does he admire her for her business acumen?

Does he like it when she cooks for him? Does she like his ability to live in the moment? Does she love the fact he wants to spend time with her?

We don't know because we don't see any of that.

... Denise.. the scenery.. bellissima

... is it possible, sure... is it likely, no ... these kinds of fantasy romance storylines having a limited audience.. reality making him a lot less pretty, and her a less haggard sixty (she's actually mid-sixties)... not they didn't do good work, they did... these choices were not of their doing

... speaking of choices, Denise Capezza was a right one.. a stunner, girl-just-cannot look-not-good (searching her still images, find one she's not the enchanter)... here in her mid-thirties, in her prime... (see 'more' of her in Baby 2018)

... outside of the delusion storyline the production's well put together, all the drone footage of the Italian coastline making up a sizable portion of all the episodes (what did they do filling screentime before drones)... the IMDb audience has the rating correct... a one-time-watch.

It is amazing how bad it is

Should be called "not a single character has any intelligence, principles or integrity"

Plenty of twists and turns but they all lead to disappointment

I would rather listen to breakfast at Tiffany's on repeat for 12 hours than watch anything this bad ever again

Even the soundtrack is dreadful

Honestly beginning to think Netflix is experimenting on us to see just how much drivel we can digest

The scene with the dog and the scooter really sent me, like WTF. You honestly couldn't think of a better way to have Marina meet Gabriella

Do yourself a favour and watch literally anything else. Paint drying, for example.

a tele-novela... from it-lee

Seems to be a remake of roman spring of mrs. Stone, with some very modern updates! Story of a cougar, who has been alone, and is looking for love. Or at least lust. And who could blame her ? Here...a chance meeting when elia's car breaks down near gabriella's house. At first, she doesn't trust him, and he's very naughty. He even makes out with the gabriella's son in a bar, before they know each other. That name elia... as in liar! It's not all that shocking, as gabriella seems to already be separated or divorced. Her kids try to warn her about elia's past, but mom is still dating the hot stud. She lets him move in, and lets him have a say on how the hotel should be run. And... of course, his girlfriend from the past shows up! Claiming to have his baby. Many shots of gabriella's boobs and elia's butt. And such dramatic music during so many scenes! Can the children protect gabriella from elia? Will he run off with marina, his pregnant ex girlfriend? Will gabriella ever get her money back? The series currently shows as directed by pappi corsicato, and written by various people. It's entertaining, if not very clever. Very linear; no surprises.

Roman spring itself had been remade several times.

Love this !

Very charismatic actors.and lots of chemistry between the main actors. Love the storyline elder woman younger man and also the hidden drama in the family. Not just an erodrama but a romantic drama with some suspense. Beautiful locations and decor. Excellent filming. Great to see how an older woman is the main character full of live and lust! Life does not stop for women over 40 and good to see that the film industry portrays older woman who are living their best life! Pity it was a miniseries i d love to have watched more episodes so i could dream away more.

Keep it coming Netflix, we want more of this!

BAAAAAAAAAAAAAD

I knew I wouldn't be watching a great work but I thought, well, let's enjoy beautiful Italian scenery. I couldn't watch more than five minutes !!!! What a catastrophe of story telling, photography, acting, editing and lack of chemistry between the actors. The acting ability of the leading lady is not more than a wooden stick. Does the director think by showing the nude belly of the young guy (he is handsome, I agree) for a fraction of a moment he can create sensuality and/or sexuality? And why critics think by telling us the story of a film/series they are writing a review? P. S. The two characters come in from the rain soaking wet but the dog in the arm of the one of them is dry !!!!!

Simply Awful

Netflix likes to pride themselves on producing quality (Ha!) programming. They shouldn't be proud of INGANNO (aka Deceitful Love). Its popularity is due entirely to a paucity of original programming in the media landscape. If I didn't know better, the dialog, acting, music, and prevalent misogyny made me feel like I was watching a 1980s soft-core porn production. That being said, this is the classic story of rich, single (in this case divorced), older woman who is seduced by a much younger, hot, mysterious younger man. The makers tried to have a couple of surprise twists to keep you guessing the young man's legitimacy, but it's not rescued...because everything else is so bad.

A captivating reconciliation

The locations of the series are magnificent and that alone is a pleasure. Then, there is a superposition of trajectories and human transformations that is really interesting. There are weaknesses in the script at times, some tempo flaws but overall I let myself be carried away. First she, Gabriella, who built herself as best she could around a very strong trauma that is slowly revealed, through this love story. We see her evolve, between panic and confidence, and the actress makes it very well. Then there is of course the fact of seeing a woman's body of her age, their passion, it's rare and it's really well filmed, we just feel happy for them. Elia is magnetic, his transformation is also interesting. Then the children, all the ways in which this improbable love story impacts them, it's interesting and well rendered overall. It's refreshing that there are no murders, no creepy stuff, just people who are very afraid and who manage to find a balance, a form of reconciliation. After all, that's what living together is all about, right?

A silly soap opera

This Italian soap opera is really over the top. There is little to recommend it other than the handsome lead actor and the beauty of the Amalfi coast of Italy. The story is your usual younger man setting out to seduce an older lonely and wealthy woman. As the plot unfolds she sees obvious signs that he is a liar and a cheat, tells him to leave many times, then apologizes an equal number of times. One can only assume that she is demented. There is a ludicrous subplot of her son also falling for the same guy, and that creates the usual dynamic. The makeup used by the characters is industrial strength, heavy and just too much, making the awful painted faces a distraction. Overall, it's a bit of silliness but it does fill empty streaming queues.

Why French music in the background?

Such a low quality show and waste of time... The weakest script, bad acting , terrible directing, just packed with sex scenes and I don't understand why it was all over French music in the background, isn't it an Italian show ? It was too fast that you cannot make sense of the story, in one episode the guy came, they instantly fell in love, they broke up they made up... all in one episode ....Nope

The worst "romantic" show ever seen

How bad can a series be. It was recommended by someone so I thought it was a passionate, beautiful drama... But was I wrong?! It's just 6 episodes and I had to drag myself through them. I thought it would get better but it didn't.

What is so beautiful or romantic about deceitfulness?

For me there was no spark between the main couple. Some probably will like the nudity and sex scenes, but they didn't convince me to feel their chemistry. The ML and FL didn't trust each other until the last 5 minutes of the show.

The stories about the other family members were so dull and incoherent.

I read in a review "why the h*ll French songs?" I didn't get that either. It's not that it suited the episodes better... The only good things about the series: -beautiful Amalfi coast scenery -handsome looks of the ML -very cute dog.

And that was it for me.

The worst "romantic" show ever seen.
