- Self - Founding Father of Virtual Reality: We've created a world in which online connection has become primary, especially for younger generations. And yet, in that world, any time two people connect, the only way it's financed is through a sneaky third person who's paying to manipulate those two people. So, we've created an entire global generation of people who are raised within a context where the very meaning of communication, the very meaning of culture, is manipulation. We've put deceit and sneakiness at the absolute center of everything we do.
- Self - Founding Father of Virtual Reality: If we go down the current status quo for, let's say, another 20 years, we probably destroy our civilization through willful ignorance. We probably fail to meet the challenge of climate change. We degrade the world's democracies so that they fall into some sort of bizarre autocratic dysfunction. We probably ruin the global economy. We probably don't survive. I really do view it as existential.
