This episode mirrors actual events. NBC initially felt episode 2.11, The Chinese Restaurant (1991), was uninteresting and did not want to air it.
Among the actresses who auditioned for the part of Marla were Jackie Swanson and Dedee Pfeiffer. Dedee Pfeiffer later plays George's girlfriend Victoria in The Opposite (1994).
Jane Leeves, who played the role of "The Virgin" in this episode was part of a group affectionately referred to as "Hill's Angels" as a Benny Hill model regular in the 80's.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Elaine) and Ping Wu (Ping) also worked together on Justice Is Blind (2004), of Arrested Development as Maggie Lizer and Proctor respectively.
