Based out of the Sarrio industrial park in Berrioplano, a town near Pamplona, Cnpc will provide production services, develop R&d projects and launch industry training programs in a region of Spain that is consolidating as a film-tv hub bulwarked by tax incentives.
Since 2015, Navarre offers a competitive 35% tax credit for Spanish shoots and co-productions.

Disney Princesses get a bad rap, but the truth is, they are uniquely suited to inspire young children - no matter the child's gender. Critics may claim that princesses lack depth and wait passively for a man to sweep them off their feet, but that plot line simply isn't present in Disney's modern films. Instead, these girls and women chase their dreams, show kindness universally, and even challenge the patriarchy.
These girls and women chase their dreams, show kindness universally, and even challenge the patriarchy.
Disney has come a long way since the release of its original princess film, Snow White, in 1937. The star of Moana (2016) saves the Polynesian Islands from complete destruction by being the only one who recognizes that the assumed villain is really the creator goddess transformed by emotional pain. To help restore the goddess to her former, loving self, Moana opens her arms to it with love and healing.

Disney+ is here and it brings with it a ton of classic Disney content spanning the decades. But that also brings with it some potentially problematic content, some of which younger viewers may be discovering for the very first time. This is something Disney is well aware of, as they've included a content warning on many classic titles in the Disney+ library. But is that content warning enough? That's certainly up for debate.
Titles such as the Disney animated classic Dumbo, which was released in 1941, were made available on Disney+ when the service launched in the U.S. earlier this week. At the end of the brief synopsis provided, Disney opted to provide the following warning, given that the movie, as has been pointed out numerous times in the past, contains imagery that is truly troubling when viewed through the modern lens.
"This program is presented as originally created. It may contain outdated cultural depictions.

Kristen Stewart is earning rave reviews for her return to studio tentpoles in Elizabeth Banks’ “Charlie’s Angels” reboot, but cinephiles won’t have to wait long to catch the actress’ return to indies. Stewart is the lead of the Jean Seberg biographical drama “Seberg,” opening in theaters this December from Amazon Studios. The film is the latest psychological drama from “Una” director Benedict Andrews. “Seberg” made its world premiere out of competition at the 2019 Venice Film Festival.
“Seberg” stars Stewart as the French New Wave icon during the 1960s, when she was targeted by the FBI because of her political and romantic involvement with civil rights activist Hakim Jamal. In addition to Stewart, the “Seberg” cast includes Jack O’Connell, Anthony Mackie, Colm Meaney, Margaret Qualley, Vince Vaughn, Zazie Beetz, Stephen Root and Yvan Atta. As Charlize Theron accepted the 33rd American Cinematheque honor at the Beverly Hilton on Friday night, the atmosphere more resembled a roast than a reverential evening celebrating the cinematic achievements of an Oscar winner. Presenters like Seth Rogen, Kristen Stewart and Seth MacFarlane shared bawdy jokes and reveals about what it’s really like working with the star. And, as Theron laughed along and flipped her friends the finger, it seemed as if the actor wouldn’t have wanted the evening to go any other way.
MacFarlane — who directed and starred opposite Theron in “A Million Ways to Die in the West” — hosted and opened the show, joking, “This is also a very meaningful night because Charlize is proof that at long last African Americans are thriving.”
The comedian made cracks like, “[the name] Charlize, it sounds like a brand of champagne popular with rednecks in Florida” and highlighted Theron’s big career risks,...

With “Charlie’s Angels” right around the corner, it appears that actress Kristen Stewart is ready to jump back into the world of franchise filmmaking. But this isn’t the first time Stewart has been in a big-budget action film since her time dating vampires in “Twilight.” Thought it wasn’t a massive hit, the actress did star in the live-action “Snow White and the Huntsman.” But as she described to Howard Stern recently (via DailyMail), experiences in her personal life prevented her from returning to the franchise for the sequel.

Kristen Stewart got brutally honest when speaking to Howard Stern this week (via Yahoo) about being dropped from the “Snow White and the Huntsman” sequel. Stewart starred opposite Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron in the 2012 revisionist fairy tale, which was enough of a box office hit with nearly $400 million worldwide for Universal Pictures to greenlight a sequel. Photographs of Stewart kissing “Snow White” director Rupert Sanders while still in a relationship with then-boyfriend Robert Pattison became the subject of a tabloid scandal, one Stewart tells Stern led to extreme slut-shamming and her being dropped from the “Snow White” sequel.
“We lived in a different time then, you know what I mean? I feel like the slut-shaming that went down was so absurd,” Stewart said. “And they should’ve put me in that movie! It would’ve been better. Not to be a dick, but… They didn’t put me in...

Exclusive: A feature film about Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo, who was named the NBA’s Mvp in June, is in the works for Disney+.
The upcoming streaming service has put Greek Freak (w/t), which will look at Antetokounmpo’s early life and current career, into development from Disney’s live-action film division.
Deadline understands that former Disney and Village Roadshow Pictures exec Bernie Goldman, who produced Zack Snyder’s 300, will produce from a script from Arash Amel, writer of Rosamund Pike and Jamie Dornan’s A Private War.
Antetokounmpo had an interesting early life; he was born in Athens, Greece as the son of Nigerian immigrants. However, due to Greek laws, he did not automatically receive full Greek citizenship and was effectively stateless until he was 18.

Disney is at it again with their live-action remakes, as the company will reportedly begin production on an updated version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in the spring. According to a new report, the project is expected to start filming in Vancouver, Canada in March 2020. Casting is also said to be under way for the project, although no potential names have yet emerged for Snow White, the Prince, Queen Grimhilde, and, of course, the seven dwarfs. Let the fan speculation begin!
News of a Disney live-action adaptation of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs dates back to 2016 when the project was first confirmed by Disney. Whereas the Academy Awards will always have Adele Dazeem, “You like me!” and Sacheen Littlefeather to remember, the Primetime Emmy Award telecasts have delivered memorable TV moments as well. Hulu is no longer developing John Grisham’s “The Rainmaker” and “Rogue Lawyer” for the streaming platform, Variety has learned.
Michael Seitzman, creator of CBS dramas “Code Black” and “Intelligence,” had been tapped to oversee the multi-series so-called “Grisham Universe” alongside “Detroit 1-8-7” creator Jason Richman.
The two Grisham series were envisioned as two separate shows based on separate books, with story lines that would cross over.
It remains to be seen whether the pair of shows, which were initially slated to be produced by ABC Signature, will find a new home elsewhere at one of Disney’s many distribution platforms. Disney took full operational control of Hulu in May after Comcast struck a deal with Disney, relinquishing its control and agreeing to sell its stake in the streaming platform for at least $5.8 billion within five years. Hulu, once jointly owned by several media conglomerates, is now solely under Disney’s purview.

Joel Schumacher doesn't think Batman and Robin were ever gay. He also says he should not have made 1997's Batman & Robin, which makes sense since it was immediately slammed by critics upon landing in theaters. Comic book fans were not into the movie at all and many thought that Schumacher deliberately made the movie campy on purpose and portrayed Bruce Wayne as a closeted gay man. "If I wasn't gay, they would never say those things," says the director.
Along with Bruce Wayne allegedly being a closeted gay man in Batman & Robin, Joel Schumacher was also accused of redesigning the Batmobile to be more phallic. These are all things that the director denies. The director does say that others have said Batman and Robin were gay for years now. He had this to say.

Everybody should subject themselves to Batman & Robin at least once. No matter how bad you’ve been told it is, I assure you that the reality is worse. It’s a neon-soaked nightmare full of terrible acting, embarrassing costumes, horrible CGI, one of the all-time worst scripts (by Oscar winner Akiva Goldsman) and, despite all that, it’s also crushingly boring. But it should be watched, if only to impress on audiences how truly bad a Batman film can be. For all intents and purposes, it killed Joel Schumacher’s career as a major Hollywood director and he’s even gone on record to apologize to fans.
Now, in an interview with Vulture, Schumacher has touched on Batman & Robin and the common reading of it as a homoerotic movie. His response is quite simple: “If I wasn’t gay, they would never say those things.” The interviewer went on to press him on the issue,...

Disney is king when it comes to beautiful animation. Heck, Walt's studio pioneered and practically invented the tried and true techniques used by animators today. Their animated masterpieces are so beloved they've permanently imbedded themselves into our culture. You can't look at movies like Snow White, Cinderella, or The Lion King and not think Disney.

When Walt Disney virtually invented the feature-length animated film with 1937's Snow White, he changed moviemaking forever. What was once called "Walt's Folly" became a box-office winner, elevating animation to the level of serious art. Though the studio has held the majority of the public's interest for going on one-hundred years, there are countless other animation houses who have (and continue to) produce incredible work that goes underseen or underappreciated. Anne Fontaine’s present-day female-sexual-empowerment fable “White as Snow” is not a Snow White story per se, although it’s fun to think of Isabelle Huppert’s character — an aging health-spa diva who becomes diabolically envious of her stepdaughter — as the wicked queen. This, one might argue, was a campy role the icy French star was born to play, and Huppert sinks her teeth into it, much as her scheming villainess hopes the pale-skinned Claire (Lou de Laâge) might a poisoned apple. But the differences between Fontaine’s stunt and the actual Brothers Grimm fairy tale distractingly outweigh the film’s semi-forced similarities, ultimately leaving audiences to wonder how this coy provocation wound up getting confused with Snow White in the first place.
The answer: Fontaine began with a situation more than a story, wherein a “pure” young woman (so perceived by multiple characters) discovers the nubile effect her beauty has over men.

As Tim Burton's Dumbo flies into cinemas, we pitch even more live-action remakes of Disney animated classics...

Starting with Tim Burton's 2010 re-imagining of Alice in Wonderland and continuing this month with the same director making Dumbo, Disney's live-action feature division essentially has a license to print money. In theory, all they really have to do is keep making live-action remakes of their already famous animated classics.
Where films like Alice and Maleficent have given a revisionist makeover to these cherished animated features, more recent films have leaned more heavily on the iconography and, crucially, the memorable songbooks of the originals. Still, nostalgia pays, to the tune of almost $5 billion at the global box office to date.

We still get outliers in the form of the majestic Pete's Dragon and the slightly odder Christopher Robin, but you can chart...

Originally based on the book written by Helen Aberson and Harold Pearl, 1941's Dumbo was the fourth animated feature film made by Walt Disney Productions, following up Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937), Pinocchio (1940), and Fantasia (1940). Originally conceived as a short film, Dumbo was reworked as a low-budget feature to help recoup the financial losses of Pinocchio and Fantasia. Made for half the cost of Snow White, the 64-minute film turned a profit, earning $1.6 million during its initial release. In addition to box office success, the film garnered some critical acclaim as well, winning Best Original Score at the 14th Academy Awards. Now, 77 years later, Walt Disney Productions is re-introducing the iconic character to a new generation with a live-action remake directed by Tim Burton. While the original film is told through the eyes of the titular flying elephant, the remake, written by Ehren Kruger, isn't as interested in charming...

The first of three Disney remakes in 2019 will hit theaters this weekend, as Tim Burton’s “Dumbo” will try to take flight despite lukewarm reviews and a relative lack of audience nostalgia weighing it down.
While the other two remakes, “Aladdin” and “The Lion King,” are aiming to gross more than $1 billion worldwide this summer, “Dumbo” will aim for lower heights. Independent trackers are mixed on the film’s prospects. One tracker is projecting a $50 million-plus opening, which is the target Disney is setting. Another tracker, however, is projecting a lower opening at around $40 million.

It's a Britney Spears musical, b*tch!
Before you grab your Catholic schoolgirl uniform or red patent leather jumpsuits, this won't be a musical based on the singer's life. Similar to Broadway classic Mamma Mia!, the musical comedy will incorporate 23 songs from the 37-year-old's iconic musical catalog to fit the story. Titled Once Upon a One More Time, the musical follows several fairy-tale princesses, including Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Sleeping Beauty, who are working through a collection of the Grimms' fairy tales with their fortnightly book club.
A rogue fairy godmother hears their wish for new reading material and brings them the feminist classic The Feminine Mystique, which spurs a "royal revelation." I just had a vision of Snow White cracking a whip at the Seven Dwarves while singing "Work B*tch," and I'm not sure how I feel about it.
The show will kick off performances in Chicago at the James M.

Disney's upcoming streaming platform, called Disney Plus, just landed a major edge over its competitors: the entire Disney vault.
The streaming service doesn't launch until later this year, but Disney CEO Bob Iger has already given movie fans a major reason to look forward to it, since he reportedly said that Disney Plus will contain "the entire Disney motion picture library," effectively making the notion of the iconic "Disney Vault" null and void. That means the studio's 1920s cartoons, as well as early hits like 1937's Snow White and 1941's Dumbo, will be available to stream on top of modern classics like Frozen, Zootopia, and Wreck-It Ralph.
While attending an investor meeting held in St. Louis, Iger explained that once Disney Plus goes online, the marketing trick of releasing certain films for only limited periods of time before they're hauled "back in the vault" will be dead, paving the...

A musical comedy featuring the songs of Britney Spears will fill the slot at the Chicago theater left vacant when producers of the upcoming Michael Jackson bio-musical scotched its own pre-Broadway run in the Windy City.
Once Upon a One More Time, with an original book by Jon Hartmere under the direction of Kristin Hanggi (Rock of Ages) and choreography by Keone & Mari Madrid (Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself” video) will begin previews at Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre on Oct. 29, running through Dec. 1. Opening night is Nov. 13.
The Oct. 29-Dec. 1 engagement is the exact window that had been set aside for Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough before producers of that show, including the Jackson Estate, opted to nix the pre-Broadway Chicago stand last month and head straight to Broadway next year.
The world premiere Chicago engagement of the Spears show was made today by James L.

Disney+ has wrapped filming on Jon Favreau’s live-action “Star Wars” TV series “The Mandalorian,” the new streaming service announced Wednesday.
Starring Nick Nolte, Werner Herzog, Gina Carano, and Pedro Pascal as the titular character, “The Mandalorian” follows the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic. The cast also includes Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, Carl Weathers and Omid Abtahi.
The series is set in the time period between “Return of the Jedi” and “The Force Awakens.” In “Star Wars” lore, Mandalorians made the iconic armor that bounty hunter Boba Fett and his “father” Jango Fett wore in the films. Boba was technically an unaltered clone of Jango.

Bryce Dallas Howard, Taika Waititi, Rick Famuyiwa and Deborah Chow directed episodes of the series, with Dave Filoni helming the premiere.

Starting with the release of the live-action Alice in Wonderland in 2012, Disney has continued to announce many upcoming live-action remakes. So far, we've seen Cinderella, The Jungle Book, and Beauty and the Beast, all of which have been a huge success amongst both critics and fans. The next movies that have been announced are Dumbo, Aladdin, The Lion King, and Mulan. Those four films have already been cast and they've included huge stars such as Beyonce to play Nala and Will Smith to play the Genie. Even though so many movies have already been brought to life, there's still plenty more that are in production by Disney. Incredibly popular films like The Little Mermaid and The Hunchback of Notre Dame are currently in the works, with no cast yet to be announced. Of course, that leaves plenty of time for us hardcore fans to speculate, obsess, and pick which actors...

Recently impressing with her spiritually poignant drama The Innocents, director Anne Fontaine is back, this time having a bit more fun. Pure as Snow is an erotic comedy that provides a humorous take on the famous Brothers Grimm’s Snow White tale. Most notably starring Huppert as playing Maud, the evil stepmother, the first trailer has now arrived out of France, where it will hit theaters this spring.
The update on the story is set in a hotel. As Maud’s jealousy builds of Claire’s budding romance, she banishes Claire, who then happens upon seven princes. Also starring Lou de Laâge (who led Fontaine’s The Innocents), Benoît Poelvoorde, Vincent Macaigne, Charles Berling, Jonathan Cohen, Damien Bonnard, and Pablo Pauly, see the trailer below and we’ll update if English subtitles become available.
Pure As Snow opens on April 10 in France and is awaiting U.S. distribution.

Big-budget Korean-made animation “Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs” has been set up for a wide international release through a slew of local distributors. The film, a modern English-language retelling of “Snow White,” features the voices of Chloe Grace Moretz, Sam Claflin and Gina Gershon as Snow White, Merlin and the Witch Queen, respectively.
Sales company Finecut has licensed it to Lucky Red for Italy, Kino Swiat for Poland, Soundspace International for India, Gulf Film for the Middle East, Bf Distribution for Latin America, and Golden River Intercine for Vietnam.
Finecut is nearing a deal for North America, which it hopes to solidify after the completed film’s screening this week in the Berlin Film Festival’s European Film Market. Once confirmed, that would allow the other distributors to set release dates.
The film was written and directed on a $20 million budget by Hong Sungho (“Wonderful Days”). Production was handled through Korea’s Locus.

Not as memorable as the classic HBO series it spun off from, Tales from the Cryptkeeper was aimed at the young whippersnappers who had the balls to wake up early enough on Saturday morning to face the horror-themed parables that the mischievous ancient corpse would throw their way. Therefore, no, it wasn’t really that scary. Creepy?...

Chicago – To say that Rupert Sanders’s “Snow White and the Huntsman” is one of the year’s best-looking films would be entirely accurate, but it’s also one of the least involving. The more sumptuous the visuals became, the more infuriating I found the tedious script, which plods along from A to B to C without any real sense of urgency, before making a tired plea for a franchise. How depressing.
And yet, there’s enough technique here worth admiring that it deserves not to drown in the swarm of media-fueled hysteria surrounding the widely publicized fling between director Rupert Sanders and star Kristen Stewart. On a purely technical level, the picture marks a fine feature debut for Sanders, who brings a medieval grit and mystical texture to his darkly entrancing visuals. This is the sort of film that Blu-ray players were made for, and some viewers may feel...
