G20, the 2025 action thriller film streaming on Prime Video, is just as shallow and outlandish as action films can be, only bolstered by the acting performance of Viola Davis, who, I feel, stands out only because of the mediocrity around her. The plot follows US President Danielle Sutton as she joins the G20 summit being held at Cape Town, along with the elected heads of the 19 other member states, only to realize that she must play the heroic part of the savior, in line with what you’d expect from an American action film, when the event is taken over by terrorists. Overall, G20 is just a silly entertainer made for casual viewing, or perhaps even to invoke a sense of pride for Americans in search of anything to feel good about themselves, given the current financial and political climate.
